Two-particle small-angle correlations between negative pions and between protons in carbon-carbon collisions atP=4.2 GeV/c per nucleon have been studied, both for an unbiased sample and for “central” events. A comparison of experimental π− π− andpp correlation functions with theoretical predictions has been made. A possible evidence for the existence of two fireballs in C+C interactions atP=4.2 GeV/c per nucleon is presented.

The total v μ N charged current cross section in the energy interval 10–50 GeV is unfolded from 15' bubble chamber antineutrino data. The method is to isolate the quasielastic events and determine their relative contribution to the overall charged current sample. The scale parameter is found to be (0.29 ± 0.03) × 10 −38 cm 2 GeV −1 . Relevance of the method for neutrino oscillation studies is discussed.

DATA IMPLYING FORMATION OF A MOVING SOURCE IN COLLISIONS OF C-12 NUCLEI WITH VARIOUS TARGET NUCLEI AT 3.6-GEV/NUCLEON

Inclusive spectra of protons emitted in the interaction of 12 C-projectiles at an energy of 3.6 GeV/nucleon and C, Cu, Sn and Pb target nuclei were measured. The analysis of the experimental data suggests that in all these interactions the main contribution to proton cross sections in the investigated kinematic region is due to emission from a moving source with a rapidity which differs greatly from the target nucleus rapidity, y t , as well as from that of the effective fireball. The properties of this source such as the excitation energy depend only slightly on the combination of the colliding nuclei.

The study of neutral strange particle production in antineutrino-induced neutral current interactions is presented. The total multiplicity of neutral strange particles and the K 0 multiplicity in the current fragmentation region ( z >0.3) are used to estimate in two ways the coupling strength of the weak neutral current to the strange quark.
