Using the CLEO-c detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have measured inclusive and exclusive cross sections for the production of D+, D0 and Ds+ mesons in e+e- annihilations at thirteen center-of-mass energies between 3.97 and 4.26 GeV. Exclusive cross sections are presented for final states consisting of two charm mesons (DD, D*D, D*D*, Ds+Ds-, Ds*+Ds-, and Ds*+Ds*-) and for processes in which the charm-meson pair is accompanied by a pion. No enhancement in any final state is observed at the energy of the Y(4260).

Using a sample of 3.3 million Upsilon(4S) -> BBbar events collected with the CLEO II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR), we measure the branching fraction for B -> rho l nu, |V_ub|, and the partial rate (Delta Gamma) in three bins of q^2 = (p_B-p_rho)^2. We find B(B^0 -> rho^- l^+ nu)=(2.69 +- 0.41^+0.35_-0.40 +- 0.50) 10^-4, |V_ub|=(3.23 +- 0.24^+0.23_-0.26 +- 0.58) 10^-3, Delta Gamma (0 < q^2 < 7 GeV^2/c^4) =(7.6 +- 3.0 ^+0.9_-1.2 +- 3.0) 10^-2 ns^-1, Delta Gamma (7 < q^2 < 14 GeV^2/c^4) =(4.8 +- 2.9 ^+0.7_-0.8 +- 0.7) 10^-2 ns^-1, and Delta Gamma (14 < q^2 < 21 GeV^2/c^4) = (7.1 +- 2.1^+0.9_-1.1 +- 0.6)10^-2 ns^-1. The quoted errors are statistical, systematic, and theoretical. The method is sensitive primarily to B -> rho l nu decays with leptons in the energy range above 2.3 GeV. Averaging with the previously published CLEO results, we obtain B(B^0 -> rho^- l^+ nu) = (2.57 +- 0.29^+0.33_-0.46 +- 0.41) 10^-4 and |V_{ub}| = (3.25 +- 0.14 ^+0.21_-0.29 +- 0.55) 10^-3.

Using the CLEO detector at the Cornell $e~+e~-$ storage ring, CESR, we study the two-photon production of $\Lambda \overline{\Lambda}$, making the first observation of $\gamma \gamma \to \Lambda \overline{\Lambda}$. We present the cross-section for $ \gamma \gamma \to \Lambda \overline{\Lambda}$ as a function of the $\gamma \gamma$ center of mass energy and compare it to that predicted by the quark-diquark model.

Using the CLEO~II detector, we have measured the differential cross sections for exclusive two-photon production of light pseudoscalar mesons $\pi^0$, $\eta$, and $\eta^{\prime}$. From our measurements we have obtained the form factors associated with the electromagnetic transitions $\gamma^*\gamma$ $\to$ meson. We have measured these form factors in the momentum transfer ranges from 1.5 to 9, 20, and 30 GeV$^2$ for $\pi^0$, $\eta$, and $\eta^{\prime}$, respectively, and have made comparisons to various theoretical predictions.

We report results on inclusive production of the charmed baryon Λc+ from e+e− annihilations at s=10.5 GeV. Measurements are presented of the inclusive cross section times branching fraction for the continuum production of Λc+ as observed in six different decay modes, and of a new, improved value of the Λc+ mass. The inclusive cross section times the branching fraction into pK−π+ is measured to be 10.0±1.5±1.5 pb summed over all xp. The branching fractions of Λc+ into pK¯0, pK¯0π+π−, Λπ+, Λπ+π−π+, and Ξ−K+π+ relative to that into pK−π+ are measured to be 0.44±0.07±0.05, 0.43±0.12±0.04, 0.18±0.03±0.03, 0.65±0.11±0.12, and 0.15±0.04±0.03, respectively. The Λc+ mass is measured to be 2284.7±0.6±0.7 MeV/c2. The measured momentum distributions for continuum production of Λc+ are compared to analytical fragmentation functions and to other measurements.

We study the process $e^+e^-\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-\gamma$, with a hard photon radiated from the initial state. About 60,000 fully reconstructed events have been selected from 89 $fb^{-1}$ of BaBar data. The invariant mass of the hadronic final state defines the effective \epem center-of-mass energy, so that these data can be compared with the corresponding direct $e^+e^-$ measurements. From the $4\pi$-mass spectrum, the cross section for the process $e^+e^-\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^+\pi^-$ is measured for center-of-mass energies from 0.6 to 4.5 $GeV/c^2$. The uncertainty in the cross section measurement is typically 5%. We also measure the cross sections for the final states $K^+ K^- \pi^+\pi^-$ and $K^+ K^- K^+ K^-$. We observe the $J/\psi$ in all three final states and measure the corresponding branching fractions. We search for X(3872) in $J/\psi (\to\mu^+\mu^-) \pi^+\pi^-$ and obtain an upper limit on the product of the $e^+e^-$ width of the X(3872) and the branching fraction for $X(3872) \to J/\psi\pi^+\pi^-$.

Production of the F meson by e + e − annihilation at high energies has been obsrved in the ϕπ final state with a mass of 1.975 ± 0.009 ± 0.010 GeV and a width consistent with the mass resolution. The inclusive production of D*+- mesons in photon-photon collisions has been measured using the OPAL detector at LEP at e+e- centre-of-mass energies of 183 and 189GeV. The D* mesons are reconstructed in their decay to D0pi+ with the D0 observed in the two decay modes Kpi+ and Kpi+pi-pi+. After background subtraction, 100.4+-12.6(stat) D*+- mesons have been selected in events without observed scattered beam electron ("anti-tagged") and 29.8+-5.9 (stat) D*+- mesons in events where one beam electron is scattered into the detector ("single-tagged"). Direct and single-resolved events are studied separately. Differential cross-sections as functions of the D* transverse momentum p_t and pseudorapidity \eta are presented in the kinematic region 2<p_t<12GeV and \eta<1.5. They are compared to next-to-leading order (NLO) perturbative QCD calculations. The total cross-section for the process (e+e- to e+e-ccbar), where the charm quarks are produced in the collision of two quasi-real photons, is measured to be 842+-97(stat)+-75(syst)+-196(extrapolation)pb. A first measurement of the charm structure function F2 of the photon is performed in the kinematic range 0.0014<x<0.87 and 5<Q^2<100 GeV^2, and the result is compared to a NLO perturbative QCD calculation.

Exclusive production of proton-antiproton pairs by two photon scattering at CM energies between 2.0 GeV and 3.1 GeV has been measured with the TASSO detector at the e + e − storage ring PETRA. The angular distribution is flat within the accepted CM angular range | cos Θ ∗ |⩽0.7 . The integrated cross section (| cos Θ ∗ |⩽0.6) drops from about 4 nb at 2 GeV to less than 0.5 nb above 3 GeV. For the two-photon production of the η c (2984) and its subsequent decay into proton-antiproton the upper limit Γ(η c →γγ)· B (η c → p p )<0.32 keV (95% CL) is found.
