At the Cooler Synchrotron COSY/J\ulich spin correlation parameters in elastic proton-proton (pp) scattering have been measured with a 2.11 GeV polarized proton beam and a polarized hydrogen atomic beam target. We report results for A$_{NN}$, A$_{SS}$, and A_${SL}$ for c.m. scattering angles between 30$^o$ and 90$^o$. Our data on A$_{SS}$ -- the first measurement of this observable above 800 MeV -- clearly disagrees with predictions of available of pp scattering phase shift solutions while A$_{NN}$ and A_${SL}$ are reproduced reasonably well. We show that in the direct reconstruction of the scattering amplitudes from the body of available pp elastic scattering data at 2.1 GeV the number of possible solutions is considerably reduced.

As part of a program to determine proton-proton elastic-scattering amplitudes, we have measured the spin-spin correlation parameter CNN at 6 GeV/c. Measurements were made over the |t| range of 0.08 to 1.4 (GeV/c)2 using a polarized beam and a polarized target at the Argonne National Laboratory Zero Gradient Synchrotron.

Proton-antiproton elastic scattering was measured at a centre of mass energy s = 540 GeV . In the four-momentum transfer range 0.21 < − t < 0.50 GeV 2 the t -distribution of about 7000 events is well represented by the exponential shape exp ( bt ) with slope parameter b = 13.7 ± 0.3 GeV −2 . A new measurement of the slope for − t < 0.19 GeV 2 confirms our earlier result, giving evidence for a change of slope of about 4 GeV −2 around − l ̷ ≈ 0.15 GeV 2 .

We report on partial results of the analysis of a p̄p backward elastic scattering experiment, between 175 and 750 MeV/ c . Various evidences are given of the resonant nature of a backward peak at the S-meson mass. Analysis leads to J PC =4 ++ , firmly connected to other experimental data with I G =1 − . All results agree for an assignment to the A 2 trajectory.

Polarization angular distributions of K + p elastic scattering have been measured at 1.22 and 2.48 GeV/ c . Over the measured range of − t the polarization is generally large and positive. The data at 1.22 GeV/ c resolve an ambiguity in a recently published phase-shift analysis, favouring the solution which requires no resonance in the K + p system.

The p p elastic differential cross section at 50 GeV/c has been measured in a two-arm spectrometer experiment at the CERN SPS. The | t | range covered extends from 0.7 to 5 (GeV/c. A pronounced dip-bump structure is observed with a sharp minimum at | t | = 1.5 (GeV/ c ) 2 .

Antiproton-proton elastic scattering data at 6.2 GeV/ c in the range 0.3 (GeV/ c ) 2 ⩽ − t ⩽ 10.0 (GeV/ c ) 2 is presented. The experiment, using spark chambers and proportional chambers, was performed at the CERN Proton Synchroton.

Antiproton-proton elastic scattering has been measured at 3.55 GeV/ c in the c.m. angular range from 20° to 77° and from 109° to 160°. Forward elastic scattering shows a structure near t = −0.5 (GeV/ c ) 2 . In the backward region two events are observed.

The asymmetry ANN for pp elastic scattering has been measured at 800 and 650 MeV in the region of Coulomb-nuclear interference. The data have been analyzed to extract the real part of a spin-spin scattering amplitude. Results are compared with the predictions of forward dispersion relations. They disagree significantly at 650 MeV.

Antiproton-proton elastic scattering has been measured at 5 GeV/c. A total of 30 000 events were observed in the angular range 17° < θ cm < 136°, corresponding to 0.3 < − t < 7.7 (GeV/ c 2 ). In addition to the known dip at − t = 0.5 ( GeV / c ) 2 , we observe a structure at about − t = 2 (GeV/ c ) 2 and a backward peak with a slope4.1 ± 0.6 (GeV/ c ) 2 . The extrapolated differential cross-section at u = 0 is 1.3 ± 0.8 μ b/(GeV/ c ) 2 .
