The pp differential elastic scattering cross section was measured at √s = 1800 GeV, using an improved accelerator luminositydetermination and CDF small angle data in the range of 0.05 ≤ t ≤ 0.2(GeV/c)2. By extrapolating the differential cross sections to t=0 and using the optical theorem we obtain a total cross section of σtot(pp) = 72.0±3.6 mb. This result is preliminary in the sense that we expect to further reduce the systematic error on the optical point.

Inverse Muon Decay, $\nu_\mu e \to \mu^- \nu_e$, at the Fermilab Tevatron

Phys.Lett.B 252 (1990) 170-176, 1990.
Inspire Record 296115 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.15430

We report an improved measurement of the inverse muon decay process, ν μ +e→ μ − + ν e , at the Fermilab Tevatron. The rate of this reaction with respect to the ν μ -N charged current interaction is measured to be (0.1245±0.0057(stat.)±0.0031 (sys.)) × 10 −2 . The measurement confirms the standard model predictions for the Lorentz structure of the weak current, the helicity of the neutrino, and the energy dependence of the cross section.

Jet fragmentation properties of anti-p p collisions at S**(1/2) = 1.8-TeV

Phys.Rev.Lett. 65 (1990) 968-971, 1990.
Inspire Record 297585 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.19919

The charged-particle fractional momentum distribution within jets, D(z), has been measured in dijet events from 1.8-TeV p¯p collisions in the Collider Detector at Fermilab. As expected from scale breaking in quantum chromodynamics, the fragmentation function D(z) falls more steeply as dijet invariant mass increases from 60 to 200 GeV/c2. The average fraction of the jet momentum carried by charged particles is 0.65±0.02(stat)±0.08(syst).

We have measured the strange-quark content of the nucleon, ηs=−0.08+0.012, and the Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element ‖Vcd‖=0.220−0.018+0.015 using a sample of 1797 νμ- and ν¯μ-induced μ−μ+ events with Pμ≥9 GeV/c and 30≤Eν≤600 GeV. The data are consistent with the slow-rescaling hypothesis of charm production in ν-N scattering and within this formalism yield a value of the charm-quark mass parameter mc=1.31−0.48+0.64 GeV/c2. .AE

Precise Comparison of Anti-proton - Proton and Proton Proton Forward Elastic Scattering at $\sqrt{s}=24$.3-{GeV}

Inspire Record 267044 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.29854

We report results from a measurement of antiproton-proton and proton-proton small-angle elastic scattering at √ s = 24.3 GeV in the range 0.001 ⩽ | t | ⩽ 0.06 (GeV/ c ) 2 . The measurement was performed at the CERN p p Collider by using silicon detectors to observe protons recoiling from a hydrogen cluster-jet target intercepting the stored p and p beams. Fits to the measured differential cross sections yield the ratio of the real to the imaginary part of the forward nuclear scattering amplitude ρ and the nuclear slope parameter b for both p p and pp. We find that the difference Δρ = ρ ( p p ) − ρ( pp ) = 0.031 ± 0.010 agrees with conventional fits and disagrees with the “odderon” fit designed to accommodate the recent UA4 measurement of ρ( p p) at 546 GeV.

Neutrino Production of Same Sign Dimuons

Inspire Record 23079 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20157

In a sample of 670 000 charged-current neutrino events, 101 μ−μ− events have been observed, with 30 GeV<Eν<600 GeV and Pμ>9 GeV/c for both muons. After background subtraction, 18.5±13.9 events remain, yielding a prompt rate of (5.5±4.1)×10−5 per charged-current event. A sample of 124 000 antineutrino events yields 15 μ+μ+ events, giving 6.4±4.2 events after background subtraction and a prompt rate of (1.0±0.7)×10−4 per charged-current event. The numbers and kinematic distributions of these events are consistent with standard model sources.

Diffraction Dissociation of Photons on Hydrogen

Phys.Rev.D 31 (1985) 17-30, 1985.
Inspire Record 216071 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.4332

We report results from a measurement of the inclusive diffraction dissociation of photons on hydrogen, γp→Xp, in the range 75<pγ<148 GeV/c, 0.02<‖t‖<0.1 (GeV/c)2, and MX2/s<0.1. Our data show an exponential t dependence and a dominant 1/MX2 behavior for MX2>4 GeV2. We test the finite-mass sum rule and, by comparing γp with π−p data obtained in the same apparatus, we test factorization.

Charged Multiplicities of High Mass Diffractive $\pi^\pm$, $K^\pm$, and $p^\pm$ States

A measurement is reported of charged multiplicity distributions of high-mass diffractive π±, K±, and p± states produced in 100 and 200 GeV/c hadron-proton collisions, h+p→X+p. The distributions are described well by a Gaussian function that depends only on the available mass M=Mx−Mh, has a maximum at n0≅2M12, and a peak-to-width ratio n0D≅2.
