Measurements are reported of inclusive production of π0-mesons in the beam fragmentation region in γp, πp andKp collisions. Results include the ratio of π0 production inKp and πp collisions, showing reduced production from fragmentation of theK-meson, and the ratio of π0 production in photon and hadron collisions which shows agreement with modified Vector Meson Dominance at lowPT, and departures at higherPT signalling the onset of direct photon reactions. The pattern of departure from Feynman scaling at highPT points to a contribution of hard parton-parton collisions in both γp and πp collisions.

Absolute differential cross-sections and charge asymmetries for pi+- d elastic scattering at 65-MeV

Kohler, M.D. ; Brack, J.T. ; Clausen, B. ; et al.

Inspire Record 323111 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.26104

Absolute π±d differential cross sections and charge asymmetries have been measured at an incident pion energy of 65 MeV, using an active target of deuterated scintillator plastic to detect recoil deuterons in coincidence with scattered pions. Statistical and systematic uncertainties in the cross sections are each typically ±3%. The charge asymmetry is consistent with theoretical predictions.

Multi-strange baryon and antibaryon production in sulphur tungsten and proton tungsten interactions at 200-GeV/c per nucleon.

Production of multi-strange baryons and antibaryons is expected to be a useful indicator in the search for Quark-Gluon Plasma formation. Production of Ξ − and Ξ − has been observed for the first time in ultra-relativistic heavy ion interactions by the WA85 Experiment. We describe the procedure used to select these cascade candidates and show that Ξ − and Ξ − decays can be identified. Preliminary ratios of Ξ/Ξ production in sulphur-tungsten and proton-tungsten interactions are also presented.

Dimuon production m p-U, O-U and S-U collisions has been studied at 200 GeV/N. It is observed that 〈 p T 〉 and 〈 p 2 T 〉 of the J / Ψ transverse momentum distributions increase with the transverse energy of the ion induced reactions. Such a marked behaviour is not seen for muon pairs of the continuum.

Search for multi - baryonic resonances in the anti-p + d ---> pi- + X reaction

The reaction p + d → π − + X has been studied at Saturne at 1.45, 2.10 and 2.70 GeV, using the spectrometer SPES III. The analysing power and the differential cross sections show no evidence for narrow structures which could be interpreted as a resonance in the three baryon system. At the lowest incident energy, the shapes of the experimental cross sections are well reproduced by phase-space distributions.

K+ elastic scattering from C and Li-6 at 715-MeV/c

Michael, R. ; Barakat, M.B. ; Bart, S. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 382 (1996) 29-34, 1996.
Inspire Record 328538 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28355

Elastic differential cross sections for K + mesons scattered from nat C and 6 Li targets have been measured at an incident momentum of 715 MeV/c and at angles of 7° to 42° in the laboratory frame. The experimental cross sections agree, within errors, with two different parameter-free impulse approximation calculations. To reduce the effects of the systematic errors, the ratio of the experimental cross sections for nat C to 6 Li is compared to the theoretical values, and these ratios do not agree with theory. This discrepancy suggests either a density-dependent alteration of K + -nucleon amplitudes or a failure of the optical potential calculations to describe these nuclides adequately.

Parity violation in proton proton scattering at 13.6-MeV

Eversheim, P.D. ; Schmitt, W. ; Kuhn, S.E. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 256 (1991) 11-14, 1991.
Inspire Record 318678 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.29488

Parity nonconservation in proton-proton scattering has been studied by measuring the angle-integrated longitudinal analyzing power A z . We found A z (13.6 MeV)=(−1.5±0.5)×10 −7 . The error includes uncertainties due to statistics and corrections, as well as upper limits on systematic effects. The experimental result is discussed with respect to recent theoretical calculations.
