Inclusive Study of Strange Particle Production in p p Interactions at 405-GeV/c

Phys.Rev.D 20 (1979) 37, 1979.
Inspire Record 140031 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.49936

We have studied inclusive KS0, Λ, and Λ¯ production and strange-resonance production in the reactions pp→(KS0, Λ, or Λ¯)+π±+anything at 405 GeV/c. The observed cross sections are 7.43 ± 0.45 mb for KS0, 4.01 ± 0.35 mb for Λ, and 0.63 ± 0.12 mb for Λ¯. From the analyses of the effective-mass distributions for the (KS0π±), (Λπ±), and (Λ¯π±) systems, the resonance production cross sections are determined as 4.1 ± 1.0 mb for K*+(890), 3.6 ± 1.0 mb for K*−(890), 3.4 ± 1.7 mb for K*±(1420), 0.67 ± 0.12 mb for Σ+(1385), 0.45 ± 0.09 mb for Σ−(1385), and 0.25 ± 0.08 mb for Σ¯±(1385). The inclusive total and differential cross sections are discussed in comparison with data at lower energies. The direct production cross sections for pseudoscalar, vector, and tensor K mesons are estimated to be 2.3 ± 1.2, 3.4 ± 1.0, and 1.7 ± 0.8 mb, respectively. Direct pseudoscalar-K-meson production accounts for less than one-third of the total inclusive kaon production. Evidence of vector-meson dominance in inclusive meson production at high energy is indicated.

Elastic and total $\pi^{+}\pi^{-}$ cross-sections from a high statistics measurement of the reaction $\pi^{-}p \to \pi^{+}\pi^{-}n$ at 63 GeV/c

Weilhammer, P. ; Berglund, A. ; Chabaud, V. ; et al.
2 (1979) 628-635, 1979.
Inspire Record 148986 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.75420

A sample of about 230000 events of the reaction pi /sup -/p to pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/n, measured with a magnetic forward spectrometer set up in an unseparated pi /sup -/ beam with a momentum of 63 GeV/c at the SPS has been analysed in terms of one pion exchange. The elastic pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/ cross section has been determined using an extrapolation to the pion pole in the mass range up to m( pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/)=4 GeV. The total pi /sup +/ pi /sup -/ cross section is obtained via the optical theorem. (7 refs).

Inclusive $\rho^0$ Production in $p p$ Collisions at the {CERN} {ISR}

The British-French-Scandinavian collaboration Albrow, M.G. ; Almehed, S. ; Booth, P.S.L. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 155 (1979) 39-51, 1979.
Inspire Record 133360 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.34664

The inclusive production of ϱ 0 mesons in pp collisions has been measured at five c.m. energies from √ s = 23.6 to 63.0 GeV. The cross sections and the production spectra as a function of transverse momentum and rapidity are discussed.

Hadronic Cross-sections Study in $e^+ e^-$ Collisions From 1.350-{GeV} to 2.125-{GeV}

Nucl.Phys.B 152 (1979) 215-231, 1979.
Inspire Record 133311 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.34784

The results of the first experiment performed at DCI in e + e − annihilations in the c.m. energy range 1.350–2.125 GeV region are presented. The cross sections of various multipion channels are extracted. Significant structure appears in some specific channels. A relatively narrow resonance around 1.660 GeV decaying into 3 π 's is found. Charged and neutral multiplicities, and also the ratio R are given.

SPECTROMETER STUDY OF PHI MESON ELECTROPRODUCTION

Dixon, Roger L. ; Galik, R. ; Larson, D. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 19 (1979) 3185, 1979.
Inspire Record 133151 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24302

We report measurements of the electroproduction of φ mesons from hydrogen at Q2 values of 0.23, 0.43, and 0.97 GeV2 with |t| varying from 0.125 to 1.3 GeV2 at each Q2 point. The data show no evidence for a Q2 dependence of the slope of the t distribution, the forward cross section falls with increasing Q2 as the square of the φ propagator, the decay angular distributions agree with the predictions of s-channel helicity conservation, and the ratio of the longitudinal to the transverse component increases linearly with Q2.

Production Characteristics of the F Meson

Inspire Record 132410 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27370

Inclusive cross sections of η production by e + e - annihilation for c.m. energies between 4.0 and 5.0 GeV are presented. The η production is shown to be correlated with the production of a weakly decaying particle, indicating that its main source is F production. At the 4.42 GeV resonance it is correlated with a low energy photon, suggesting F F ∗ or F ∗ F ∗ production. A mass determination of the F is made at 4.42 GeV using the F → ηπ decay channel.

Inclusive Interactions of High-Energy Neutrinos and anti-neutrinos in Iron

de Groot, J.G.H. ; Hansl, T. ; Holder, M. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 1 (1979) 143, 1979.
Inspire Record 133261 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.16826

We present results on charged current inclusive neutrino and antineutrino scattering in the neutrino energy range 30–200 GeV. The results include a) total cross-sections; b)y distributions; c) structure functions; and d) scaling violations observed in the structure functions. The results, as well as their comparison with the results of electron and muon inclusive scattering, are in agreement with the expectations of the quark parton model and QCD.

Measurement of the Energy and X Dependence of the Y Distributions in Anti-neutrino Interactions

Benvenuti, A.C. ; Bobisut, F. ; Cline, D. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 42 (1979) 149, 1979.

Analysis of 5180 ν¯ interactions shows a variation with energy of the inelasticity (y) distributions over the range 10 to 220 GeV and a dependence on the scaling variable x. From these data are obtained the approximate x dependence of the sea quarks and a limit on the strength of right-handed coupling between the u quark and a massive b quark.
