Observation of small angle proton proton elastic scattering at 30 gev and 45 gev center-of-mass energies

Holder, M. ; Radermacher, E. ; Staude, A. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 35 (1971) 355-360, 1971.
Inspire Record 69228 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.5781

Small angle elastic scattering events have been observed at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings. Directions of both particles as well as the collision vertex are reconstructed with the help of four sets of spark chambers, two for each of the two arms. The elastic nature of the events is demonstrated by a collinearity requirement. We find values for the (diffraction) slope parameter in disagreement with the simple linear extrapolation of lower energy (Surpukov) data.

MEASUREMENT OF THE CHARGED PARTICLE MULTIPLICITY IN P P COLLISIONS AT 102-GEV/C.

Chapman, J.W. ; Green, N. ; Roe, B.P. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 29 (1972) 1686-1688, 1972.
Inspire Record 73777 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21427

We present preliminary results from a sample of ∼ 1200 events obtained from an exposure of the 30-in. Argonne National Laboratory—National Accelerator Laboratory liquid-hydrogen bubble chamber to 102-GeVc protons. The elastic and total inelastic cross sections are respectively 6.9 ± 1.0 and 32.8 ± 1.1 mb. The parameters of the multiplicity distribution for negative tracks are 〈n−〉=2.17±0.07, D−2=〈n−2〉−〈n−〉2=2.56±0.12, and f2−=D−2−〈n−〉=0.39±0.10.

Phys.Lett.B 42 (1972) 519-521, 1972.
Inspire Record 74383 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28174

In an exposure of the chamber Mirabelle at the Serpukhov accelerator, 1 943 interactions at 50 GeV/ c and 8 959 at 69 GeV/ c have been observed. Topological cross sections and charged multiplicity distributions are presented. The average charged multiplicities found are respectively 5.32 ± 0.13 and 5.89 ± 0.07.

Phys.Rev.D 9 (1974) 2689, 1974.
Inspire Record 609 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21974

The charged-particle multiplicity distribution in 205−GeVc proton-proton interactions is presented. In addition, the total diffractive contributions to each charged multiplicity are estimated assuming a factorizable Pomeron.

Measurement of the Transverse Spin Dependence of the p p Total Cross-Section in the 1-GeV/c-3-GeV/c Region

Biegert, E.K. ; Buchanan, J.A. ; Clement, J.M. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 73 (1978) 235-238, 1978.
Inspire Record 134224 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27471

The pp total cross section difference between pure transverse spin states was measured in the laboratory momentum range 1–3 GeV/ c . Significant differences were found and these differences show striking energy dependence. This structure is in disagreement with the predictions of simple exchange models.

Correlations Between Neutral and Charged Pions Produced in 300-{GeV}/$c p p$ Collisions

Kafka, T. ; LoPinto, F. ; Brody, A. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 19 (1979) 76, 1979.
Inspire Record 6901 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24255

Neutral-pion production in pp interactions has been studied using 8000 photon conversions in the Fermilab 15-ft bubble chamber. Inclusive π0 multiplicity moments and ππ correlation integrals are presented; f200 is determined to be + 3.0±0.8. For the semi-inclusive π0 multiplicity distributions we find 〈n(π0)〉n− to increase with n−, while the dispersions are n− independent. Results on f2−0, f200, and f2,n−00 are compared to predictions of simple cluster models.

The Effective Energy Dependence of the Charged Particle's Multiplicity in $P / \pi^+ / K^+$ Interactions on Protons at 147-{GeV}/c

Brick, D. ; Rudnicka, H. ; Shapiro, A.M. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 103 (1981) 241-246, 1981.
Inspire Record 170358 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.6707

The energy dependence of the average of the charged multiplicity and its dispersion in π + /K + /p interaction on protons at 147 GeV/ c is found to be the same as in e + e − annihilations if an “effective energy” variable is used instead of the total energy. The effective energy S eff is defined as the invariant mass of all secondaries left after the two leading particles have been removed. Fitting the expression aS eff b to the average charge multiplicity 〈 n ch 〉, we find the power b to be in good agreement with the value of 0.25 predicted by Fermi's statistical model and by Landau's hydrodynamical model.

Measurement of $\Delta - \sigma_L$ in Proton Proton Scattering Between 300-{MeV} and 800-{MeV}

Auer, I.P. ; Ditzler, W.R. ; Hill, D. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 24 (1981) 2008, 1981.
Inspire Record 10751 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.51322

We have measured the difference between proton-proton total cross sections for parallel and antiparallel longitudinal spin states [ΔσL=σtot(⇄)−σtot(⇄)] at 13 incident energies between 300 and 800 MeV, which cover the region of possible D21 and F33 diproton resonances. The present experiment has strongly confirmed the structure previously observed at the Argonne Zero Gradient Synchrotron. No additional narrow structure has been found.
