π±p elastic differential cross sections in the momentum range 1.72-2.80 GeV/c have been measured at the proton synchrotron "NIMROD" of the Rutherford High Energy Laboratory. The results are tabulated, and analyses of the differential cross sections employing optical models and Legendre polynomial expansions are advanced. A critical discussion of a recent interpretation of differential-cross-section structure in terms of interference between resonant and background amplitudes is presented.

Pi+ p elastic scattering data between 1820- and 2090-mev center-of-mass energy

Kalmus, G.E. ; Michael, W. ; Birge, R.W. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 4 (1971) 676-683, 1971.
Inspire Record 67772 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3686

Total and differential elastic cross-section data are presented at eight incident π+ momenta: 1.28, 1.34, 1.40, 1.43, 1.55, 1.68, 1.77, and 1.84 GeVc. These data were obtained from a hydrogen-bubble-chamber exposure at the Bevatron, and contain more than 65 000 events. This represents more than 1½ times the world's data hitherto available in this energy region.

Observation of three narrow neutral mesons in the vicinity of 950 mev

Cheshire, D.L. ; Jacobel, R.W. ; Lamb, R.C. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 28 (1972) 520-523, 1972.
Inspire Record 75535 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21441

In a scintillation-counter experiment, we have observed two narrow, neutral mesons in addition to the well-established η′ (958) in the reaction π−p→M0n at 2.4 GeVc. We observe a mass of 940.5 ± 1.7 MeV, Γ<10.4 MeV for the M0(940), and a mass of 962.9 ± 1.7 MeV, Γ<5.9 MeV for the δ0.

Dip structures in pi+ p ---> rho+ p at 1.55-1.84 gev/c

Williamson, Y. ; Fung, S.Y. ; Kernan, A. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 29 (1972) 1353-1356, 1972.
Inspire Record 75422 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21440

Results of a high-statistics study of π++p→ρ++p at 1.55-1.84 GeVc are consistent with dominance of π and ω exchange close to threshold. A pronounced dip in ρ00sdσdt at −t≃0.4 GeV2 may be attributed to pion exchange with strong absorption.

Study of pi+ p four prong interactions from 2.95-GeV/c to 4.08-GeV/c

Brown, David ; Gidal, George ; Birge, Robert W. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 1 (1970) 3053, 1970.
Inspire Record 74876 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.25065

In a study of the production mechanism of quasi-two-body final states at the five incident π+ momenta 2.95, 3.2, 3.5, 3.75, and 4.08 GeV/c, approximately 40 000 events with four outgoing charged particles were investigated. The cross sections for the processes π+p→N*++ρ, π+p→N*++ω, π+p→N*++η, and π+p→N*++f have been measured as a function of the pion energy. The differential cross sections and the decay density-matrix elements are discussed in terms of one-meson-exchange models [with absorption (OPEA) and with form factor (OPEW)] and Regge models. For the N*++ρ and the N*++ω reactions, the joint-decay matrix elements are calculated. The formation of N*(2850) in the direct channel is also investigated.
