Production of charmed mesons in γγ-interactions at PETRA energies has been observed in the TASSO detector. Cross sections for inclusiveD*± and\(D^0 \bar D^0 \) production have been measured. Neutral and charged meson pairs are estimated to be produced with comparable cross sections, and their sum seems to account for a sizeable fraction of σtot(γγ→hadrons) near the\(c\bar c\) threshold.

Inspire Record 294910 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.15179

Results on the production cross sections ofW andZ bosons detected in the UA2 experiment are given based on a large sample ofW→eν andZ→e+e− decays. The measured cross sections are σWe = 660±15(stat)±37(syst)pb, σZe = 70.4±5.5(stat)±4.0(syst)pb and their ratioR=9.38−0.72+0.82(stat)±0.25(syst). In the framework of the Standard Model, the measured value ofR is used to determine the total width of theW, Γ(W)=2.30±0.19(stat)±0.06(syst) GeV.

Global Jet Properties at 14-{GeV} to 44-{GeV} Center-of-mass Energy in $e^+ e^-$ Annihilation

The TASSO collaboration Braunschweig, W. ; Gerhards, R. ; Kirschfink, F.J. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 47 (1990) 187-198, 1990.
Inspire Record 294755 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.45170

Jet properties ine+e− annihilation at center of mass energies of 14, 22, 35 and 43.7 GeV were studied with the data collected in the TASSO detector at PETRA, using the same evaluation procedures for all the energies. The total hadronic cross section ratio for the center of mass energy interval 39–47 GeV was determined to be ℛ=4.11±0.05 (stat)±0.18(syst.) at\(\langle \sqrt s \rangle= 43 - 7\) GeV. Corrected distributions of global shape variables are presented as well as the inclusive charged particle distributions for scaled momentum and transverse momentum. The center of mass energy evolution of the average sphericity, thrust, aplanarity and particle momentum is shown.

Study of Hadronic Decays of the $\Z^0$ Boson

Hadronic decays of Z 0 bosons are studied in the Delphi detector. Global event variables and singel particles inclusive distributions are compared with QCD-based predictions. The mean charged multiplicity is found to be 20.6±1.0 (stat+syst). The mean values of the sphericity, aplanarity, thrust, minor value, p in T and p out T are compared with values found at lower energy e + e − colliders.

Measurement of the Total Hadronic Cross-section in $e^+ e^-$ Annihilation at $\sqrt{s}=29$-{GeV}

The MARK-II collaboration Von Zanthier, Christoph ; de Boer, W. ; Grindhammer, Guenter ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 43 (1991) 34-45, 1991.
Inspire Record 295286 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.22852

A precise measurement of the ratio R of the total cross section e+e−→hadrons to the pointlike cross section e+e−→μ+μ− at a center-of-mass energy of 29.0 GeV is presented. The data were taken with the upgraded Mark II detector at the SLAC storage ring PEP. The result is R=3.92±0.05±0.09. The luminosity has been determined with three independent luminosity monitors measuring Bhabha scattering at different angular intervals. Recent calculations of higher-order QED radiative corrections are used to estimate the systematic error due to missing higher-order radiative corrections in the Monte Carlo event generators.

Recoil properties of deep spallation and fragmentation products in the interaction of tantalum with 3.65-A-Gev C-12 ions and protons

Kozma, P. ;
Phys.Scripta 43 (1991) 133-136, 1991.
Inspire Record 299297 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.39412

Thick-target recoil properties of deep spallation and fragmentation products of the interaction of tantalum with 3.65 AGeV 12C-ions and 3.65 GeV protons have been studied. The kinematic parameters such as mean product kinetic energies and velocities of the remnant have been deduced from the data by means of the two-step vector velocity model of high-energy reactions. The results have also been used to test the applicability of the factorization hypothesis to the kinematic properties.

The reaction p p → Λ Σ 0 together with its charge conjugate channel (c.c.) has been measured at LEAR. The incident p momentum was 1.695 GeV/ c , corresponding to an excess energy above threshold of 14.8 MeV. Results are given for the production cross section and the differential cross section as well as for the polarization. Comparisons are made with theoretical calculations and with the reaction p p → Λ Λ .
