ω photoproduction off hydrogen and deuterium has been studied with the tagged photon beam of the ELSA accelerator in Bonn for photon energies up to 2.0 GeV. The ω meson has been identified via the ω → π$^{0}$ γ → γγγ decay mode, using the combined setup of the Crystal Barrel/TAPS detector systems. Both inclusive and exclusive analyses have been carried out. Differential and total cross-sections have been derived for ω mesons produced off free protons and off protons and neutrons bound in deuterium. The cross-section for the production off the bound neutron is found to be a factor of ≈ 1.3 larger than the one off the bound proton in the incident beam energy region 1.2 GeV < E$_{γ}$ < 1.6 GeV. For higher incident beam energies this factor goes down to ≈ 1.1 at 2.0 GeV. The cross-sections of this work have been used as normalization for transparency ratio measurements.

Cross sections for pi+-p elastic scattering have been measured to high precision, for beam momenta between 800 and 1240 MeV/c, by the EPECUR Collaboration, using the ITEP proton synchrotron. The data precision allows comparisons of the existing partial-wave analyses (PWA) on a level not possible previously. These comparisons imply that updated PWA are required.

The PHENIX experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider has measured low mass vector meson, $\omega$, $\rho$, and $\phi$, production through the dimuon decay channel at forward rapidity ($1.2<|y|<2.2$) in $p$$+$$p$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=200$ GeV. The differential cross sections for these mesons are measured as a function of both $p_T$ and rapidity. We also report the integrated differential cross sections over $1<p_T<7$ GeV/$c$ and $1.2<|y|<2.2$: $d\sigma/dy(\omega+\rho\rightarrow\mu\mu) = 80 \pm 6 \mbox{(stat)} \pm 12 \mbox{(syst)}$ nb and $d\sigma/dy(\phi\rightarrow\mu\mu) = 27 \pm 3 \mbox{(stat)} \pm 4 \mbox{(syst)}$ nb. These results are compared with midrapidity measurements and calculations.

We present measurements of the differential cross section dsigma/dpT_gamma for the inclusive production of a photon in association with a b-quark jet for photons with rapidities |y_gamma|< 1.0 and 30<pT_gamma <300 GeV, as well as for photons with 1.5<|y_gamma|< 2.5 and 30< pT_gamma <200 GeV, where pT_gamma is the photon transverse momentum. The b-quark jets are required to have pT>15 GeV and rapidity |y_jet| < 1.5. The results are based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 8.7 fb^-1, recorded with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron $p\bar{p}$ Collider at sqrt(s)=1.96 TeV. The measured cross sections are compared with next-to-leading order perturbative QCD calculations using different sets of parton distribution functions as well as to predictions based on the kT-factorization QCD approach, and those from the Sherpa and Pythia Monte Carlo event generators.

Dependence of the $t\bar{t}$ production cross section on the transverse momentum of the top quark

We present a measurement of the differential cross section for $t\bar{t}$ events produced in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}=1.96$ TeV as a function of the transverse momentum ($p_T$) of the top quark. The selected events contain a high-$p_T$ lepton ($\ell$), four or more jets, and a large imbalance in $p_T$, and correspond to 1 fb${}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity recorded with the D0 detector. Each event must have at least one candidate for a $b$ jet. Objects in the event are associated through a constrained kinematic fit to the $t\bar{t}\to WbW\bar{b} \to \ell\nu b q\bar{q}'\bar{b}$ process. Results from next-to-leading-order perturbative QCD calculations agree with the measured differential cross section. Comparisons are also provided to predictions from Monte Carlo event generators using QCD calculations at different levels of precision.

Photoproduction of $\eta$ mesons off $^{12}$C, $^{40}$Ca, $^{93}$Nb, and $^{nat}$Pb nuclei has been measured with a tagged photon beam with energies between 0.6 and 2.2 GeV. The experiment was performed at the Bonn ELSA accelerator with the combined setup of the Crystal Barrel and TAPS calorimeters. It aimed at the in-medium properties of the S$_{11}$(1535) nucleon resonance and the study of the absorption properties of nuclear matter for $\eta$ mesons. Careful consideration was given to contributions from $\eta\pi$ final states and secondary production mechanisms of $\eta$-mesons e.g. from inelastic $\pi N$ reactions of intermediate pions. The analysis of the mass number scaling shows that the nuclear absorption cross section $\sigma_{N\eta}$ for $\eta$ mesons is constant over a wide range of the $\eta$ momentum. The comparison of the excitation functions to data off the deuteron and to calculations in the framework of a BUU-model show no unexplained in-medium modifications of the S$_{11}$(1535).

K^0 pi^0 Sigma^+ and K^*0 Sigma^+ photoproduction off the proton

The exclusive reactions $\gamma p \to K^{*0} \Sigma^+(1189)$ and $\gamma p \to K^{0} \pi^{0}\Sigma^+(1189)$, leading to the p 4$\pi^{0}$ final state, have been measured with a tagged photon beam for incident energies from threshold up to 2.5 GeV. The experiment has been performed at the tagged photon facility of the ELSA accelerator (Bonn). The Crystal Barrel and TAPS detectors were combined to a photon detector system of almost 4$\pi$ geometrical acceptance. Differential and total cross sections are reported. At energies close to the threshold, a flat angular distribution has been observed for the reaction $\gamma p\to K^{0} \pi^{0}\Sigma^+$ suggesting dominant s-channel production. $\Sigma^*(1385)$ and higher lying hyperon states have been observed. An enhancement in the forward direction in the angular distributions of the reaction $\gamma p \to K^{*0}\Sigma^+$ indicates a $t$-channel exchange contribution to the reaction mechanism. The experimental data are in reasonable agreement with recent theoretical predictions.

Quasiexclusive neutral meson production in pN-interactions is studied in experiments with the SPHINX facility operating in a proton beam from the IHEP accelerator (Ep=70 GeV). The cross sections and the parameters of the differential distributions for πo, ω, η and Ko production in the deep fragmentation region (xF > 0.79 ÷ 0.86) are presented. The results show that such proton quasiexclusive reactions with baryon exchange may be promising in searches for exotic mesons.

Analysing powers and differential cross sections for p p → π − π + and p p → K − K + have been measured over the full angular range using a polarised target at LEAR at 20 beam momenta from 360 to 1550 MeV/ c . Discrepancies in the normalisation of earlier d σ/ d Ω data at low momenta are clarified. Above 1000 MeV/ c , A 0N results confirm values close to +1 over most of the angular range for both reactions, in excellent agreement with earlier data of lower statistics. Below 1000 MeV/ c , where the analysing power is measured for the first time, large variations of A 0N with energy and angle are present.

Measurements have been made of the differential cross section and asymmetry A on for p p elastic scattering at 15 incident momenta between 497 MeV/ c and 1550 MeV/ c . The angular range where both particles have enough energy to traverse target and setup has been covered. The results are compared with predictions of various N N potential models. None of these models fully explains the present results, although the general trend of the data is predicted correctly.
