We have determined the coherent KS regeneration amplitudes on various nuclei, from 20 to 140 GeV/c, using a particularly systematics-free technique. Our results are well represented by |(f−f¯)k|=2.23A0.758p−0.614 mb. This p dependence corresponds to an effective "nuclear" intercept ``αω(0)''=0.386±0.009, whereas the elementary value is αω(0)=0.44±0.01. Comparisons are made with data below 25 GeV/c, and with optical-model predictions. The latter work only if "αω(0)" is postulated to hold for the elementary amplitudes.

A Study of Inclusive $\Lambda$, $\Sigma^0$ and $\Sigma(1385)$ Production in $K^- p$ Interactions at 8.25-{GeV}/$c$

Inclusive Λ production has been studied in K − p interactions at 8.25 GeV/ c using about 69 000 events; the total cross section is found to be 3.35 ± 0.20 mb. A comparison has been made with Σ 0 and Σ(1385) inclusive production. Their influence on the inclusive Λ production is discussed. The inclusive Λ cross section and polarization is interpreted in terms of the triple-Regge model. In the target fragmentation region an effective Regge trajectory is determined which lies closer to the K than to the K ∗ . In the beam fragmentation region the cross-section data indicate an effective Regge trajectory which corresponds to the nucleon, while the polarization data require additional Regge exchanges to be present.

Production of $\psi$ and $\psi^\prime$ Mesons in $\pi^- N$ Scattering at 150-{GeV}/$c$

In a large-acceptance spectrometer, muon pairs and associated hadrons were observed with μμ masses up to 10 GeV/ c 2 and ΔM M = 0.015 resolution. We report here on the production of 4000 J/ ψ and 80 ψ ′ mesons.

Production of High Transverse Momentum Low Mass Electron - Positron Pairs in High-energy $p p$ Collisions

Chilingarov, A. ; Clark, A.G. ; Darriulat, P. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 151 (1979) 29-45, 1979.
Inspire Record 133024 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.34778

The production of electron-positron pairs of masses below 1200 MeV/ c 2 and of transverse momentum above 1.8 GeV/ c has been studied in pp collisions at √ s = 53 and 63 GeV. The cross section for ϱ, ω, and φ production are presented. The continuum below 600 MeV/ c 2 is consistent with origination from Dalitz decays of η and ω mesons and from semileptonic decay of D and D mesons.

Measurement of Shadowing in Photon - Nucleus Total Cross-sections From 20-{GeV} to 185-{GeV}

Phys.Rev.Lett. 42 (1979) 553, 1979.
Inspire Record 132972 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20769

We have measured total hadronic photoproduction cross sections on carbon, copper, and lead. Tagged-photon energies ranged from 20 to 185 GeV for copper and from 45 to 82 GeV for carbon and lead. The energy and A dependence of shadowing were computed by comparing these results to the hydrogen cross section as measured nearly simultaneously with the same apparatus. We observed somewhat more shadowing than did most experiments at lower photon energies.

CROSS-SECTION AND POLARIZATION MEASUREMENTS OF P HE-4 ELASTIC SCATTERING AT GEV ENERGIES

Phys.Rev.C 19 (1979) 104-119, 1979.
Inspire Record 145405 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.26364

We have measured the differential cross-section and the analyzing power (polarization) for p-He4 elastic scattering at incident kinetic energies of 0.56, 0.80, 1.03, 1.24, and 1.73 GeV. The experiment used a polarized proton beam incident on a liquid helium target and a single arm magnetic spectrometer to detect elastic scattering. Both the differential cross sections and the analyzing power show structure near −t=0.25 (GeV/c)2 which decreases in magnitude with increasing energy. Both multiple scattering and optical model interpretations of the data are discussed. NUCLEAR REACTIONS elastic scattering, p-He4; GeV energies; measured differential cross section; measured polarization; comparison with theory.

Coherent $K$(s) Regeneration on Protons From 30-{GeV}/$c$ to 130-{GeV}/$c$

Bock, G.J. ; Aronson, S.H. ; Freudenreich, K. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 42 (1979) 350, 1979.

Precise measurements att=0 of the KLp→KSp amplitude (modulus and phase) were made. Over 50000 Kπ2 decays along with normalizing Kμ3 events were detected behind a 7.2-m-long liquid-hydrogen regenerator. The momentum dependence of the modulus and phase are presented, and the results are combined with those of other experiments to extract the relevant parameters of ω exchange.

Y* K AND Y* K* PRODUCTION IN pi+ p INTERACTIONS AT 10.3-GeV/c

Goddard, M.C. ; Key, A.W. ; Luste, G.J. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 19 (1979) 1350, 1979.
Inspire Record 7416 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24321

The reactions π+p→Σ+(1385)K+ and π+p→Σ+(1385)K*+(890) are examined. The Σ+(1385)K+ differential cross section for −t′<0.5 GeV2 and spin density matrix elements agree with a Regge-pole model incorporating (nondegenerate) vector and tensor K* exchange with dominant M1 coupling. The Σ+(1385)K*+(890) density matrix elements are consistent with the quark-additivity predictions. A Y*+ at a mass of 1700 MeV is also observed in the Λπ+ mass distribution, produced opposite both K+ and K*+(890).

Inclusive Production of $D$ and $K$ Mesons in $e^+ e^-$ Annihilation

Piccolo, M. ; Peruzzi, I. ; Rapidis, P.A. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 86 (1979) 220-224, 1979.
Inspire Record 141018 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27301

We present measurements of the cross section for inclusive D and K meson production in e + e − annihilation in the center of mass energy range 3.6 to 5.8 GeV. D production accounts for most of the increase in the total cross section for hadron production in e + e − annihilation at energies above 4 GeV.
