Inelastic and elasticJ/ψ (3097) photoproduction on Li6 are measured at a mean γ energy of 90 GeV in an open spectrometer. TheJ/ψ are identified by their decays intoμ+μ− ore+e−. A signal of ψ′(3685) intoμ+μ− andJ/ψπ+π− is also seen. The inelastic cross-section withZ=Eψ/Eγ<0.9 is compared in shape and magnitude with the colour singlet model of photon-gluon fusion.

Inspire Record 235690 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.15800

We have determined the double inclusive cross-section for opposite-side high-pT photons and away-side jets withθγ≈θjet≈90° produced inpp collisions at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings at\(\sqrt s= 63\) GeV. Under the assumption that these events arise predominantly from the QCD gluon Compton process we have calculated the gluon structure function in the range 0.15≦x≦0.30 at an average square of the four-momentum transfer of 40 GeV2/c2. The data favour a soft gluon distribution in the proton.

Phys.Lett.B 187 (1987) 431-436, 1987.
Inspire Record 235069 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.6522

B B production in π − -uranium interactions has been observed at 320 GeV beam energy looking at events with three muons in the final state. The cross section is found to be σ B B = 4.5±1.4±1.4 nb per nucleon (for a linear A -dependence) or σ B B = 17.6±5.5±5.5 nb per nucleon (assuming A 0.75 dependence). An estimate of x F distribution is given.

Observation of Correlations Between Forward Protons and 90-degree Trigger Protons at S**1/2 = 62-{GeV}

The R608 collaboration Smith, A.M. ; Meritet, L. ; Reyrolle, M. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 184 (1987) 293-298, 1987.
Inspire Record 234498 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30213

We study the production of π + 's and protons at 90° with p t>1.15 GeV and their correlations with forward protons. Fewer forward protons are observed for a 90° proton trigger than for a π + trigger. This is in qualitative agreement with the idea of an effective diquark scattering mechanism. Additionally, we observe that a K + produced at 90° is correlated with an enhanced forward production of λ O .

Observation of Charmed Mesons in Photon-photon Collisions

Phys.Lett.B 184 (1987) 288-292, 1987.
Inspire Record 235696 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30214

The inclusive production of D ∗± mesons in single tagged photon-photon collisions is investigated using the JADE detector at PETRA. D ∗± mesons are reconstructed through their decay into D 0 +π ± where the D 0 decays via D 0 →Kππ 0 . The event rate and topology are compared to the expectations of c quark production in the quark-parton model: γγ→c c .

Phys.Lett.B 183 (1987) 419-424, 1987.
Inspire Record 236982 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30227

Results on hyperon production are reported for data accumulated at 10 GeV centre-of-mass energy with the ARGUS detector. Signals for both the octet states Λ, Σ 0 and Ξ − and the decuplet states Σ ± (1385), Ξ 0 (1530) and Ω − are observed 1 (references to a specific state are to be interpreted as also implying the charge conjugate state), some for the first time in e + e − annihilation. Baryon rates from γ dir (1S) decays are enhanced by a factor of about 3 over the continuum.

Theπ0 andη0 production is studied inπ−p interactions at 360 GeV/c. The cross section forπ0 production in the forward hemisphere (X>0) isσ(π0)=(49.7 ± 1.0 ± 1.1) mb and for η withX>0.1,Nch>2,σ(η0)=(3.1 ± 0.5) mb. The ratio of theπ0 toη0 cross section forX>0.1,Nch>2 isσ(π0)/σ(η0). Results on FeynmanX andpT distributions are presented. The data were obtained using the European Hybrid Spectrometer EHS and the bubble chamber LEBC at CERN.

OBSERVATION OF SCALING OF THE PHOTON STRUCTURE FUNCTION F2 (gamma) AT LOW Q**2

The TPC/Two Gamma collaboration Aihara, H. ; Alston-Garnjost, M. ; Avery, R.E. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 58 (1987) 97, 1987.
Inspire Record 233595 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20136

The structure function F2γ for a quasireal photon has been measured in the reaction ee→eeX for Q2 in the range 0.2<Q2<7 GeV2, by use of 9200 multihadron events obtained with the TPC/Two-Gamma detector at the SLAC storage ring PEP. The data have been corrected for detector effects by a regularized unfolding procedure and are presented as F2γ(x,Q2). The structure function shows scaling in the region 0.3<Q2<1.6 GeV2, x<0.3, and rises for higher Q2 and x>0.1. Below Q2=0.3 GeV2, scaling breaks down in accordance with the finite cross-section bound for real photons.
