Inspire Record 83716 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21415

Cross sections for inelastic scattering of electrons from hydrogen and deuterium were measured for incident energies from 4.5 to 18 GeV, at scattering angles of 18°, 26°, and 34°, and covering a range of squared four-momentum transfers up to 20 (GeVc)2. Neutron cross sections were extracted from the deuterium data using an impulse approximation. Comparisons with the proton measurements show significant differences between the neutron and proton cross sections.

THE PRODUCTION OF anti-SIGMA+- 's IN e+ e- ANNIHILATION

We find an increase in ∑ ± production between E cm = 4 and 7 GeV which is consistent with charmed baryon production models. A search for the decay ∧ c − → ∑ ± π ± π − yields no significant peaks.

Inclusive electron Production in e+ e- Annihilation at 29-GeV

Phys.Rev.Lett. 50 (1983) 1542, 1983.
Inspire Record 188964 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.38161

The total momentum and transverse momentum spectra of electrons in e+e− annihilation at 29 GeV have been measured. The inclusive cross section is determined to be 14.4±1.6±5.2 pb for momenta greater than 2 GeV/c. The average semielectronic branching ratios of charm and bottom quarks are measured to be (6.3±1.2±2.1)% and (11.6±2.1±1.7)%, respectively. The fragmentation function for bottom quarks is determined to be peaked at high z, with 〈z〉b=0.75±0.05±0.04.

The cross section for the production of π+π− or K+K− pairs in γγ interactions is measured for mππ between 1.7 and 3.5 GeV/c2 and for two intervals of γγ center-of-mass scattering angle. Results are compared with predictions of a QCD model.

Inclusive Charged Particle Distribution in Nearly Threefold Symmetric Three Jet Events at $e$({CM}) = 29-{GeV}

Phys.Rev.Lett. 55 (1985) 1954, 1985.
Inspire Record 216850 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20285

We report a measurement of the inclusive charged-particle distribution for gluon jets derived from nearly threefold-symmetric three-jet events taken at center-of-mass energy of 29 GeV in e+e− annihilation. The charged-particle spectrum for these jets is observed to fall off more rapidly than those of quark jets of the same energy.

The production of Λ hyperons in e+e− annihilation has been measured as a function of their total momenta, transverse momenta, and the event thrust. The total production rate is 0.213±0.012±0.018 Λ or Λ¯ per hadronic event. The observation of correlations in rapidity and angles for events with two detected Λ decays supports fragmentation models with local baryon-number compensation.

Charged Multiplicity of Hadronic Events Containing Heavy Quark Jets

Rowson, P.C. ; Trilling, G. ; Abrams, G.S. ; et al.

Inspire Record 212819 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20380

The charged-particle multiplicities of hadronic events deriving from produced bottom or charm quarks have been measured in the Mark II detector at PEP in e+e− annihilation at 29GeV. For events containing one semileptonic and one hadronic weak decay, we find multiplicities of 15.2±0.5±0.7 for bottom and 13.0±0.5±0.8 for charm. The corresponding multiplicities of charged particles accompanying the pair of heavy hadrons are 5.2±0.5±0.9 for bottom, and 8.1±0.5±0.9 for charm.

A Comparison of the Deep Inelastic Structure Functions of Deuterium and Aluminum Nuclei

Bodek, A. ; Giokaris, N. ; Atwood, W.B. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 51 (1983) 534, 1983.
Inspire Record 189856 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20489

The deep-inelastic electromagnetic structure functions of deuterium and aluminum nuclei have been measured. The kinematic dependence of the ratio of aluminum and deuterium structure functions is similar to the dependence of the ratio of steel and deuterium structure functions, and provides further evidence for the distortion of the quark momentum distributions of nucleons bound in a nucleus.
