Neutrino and antineutrino total charged current cross sections on iron were measured in the 100, 160, and 200 GeV narrow band beams at the CERN SPS in the energy range 10 to 200 GeV. Assuming σ/E to be constant, the values corrected for non-isoscalarity are σv/E = (0.686 ± 0.019) * 10−38 cm2/ (GeV · nucleon) and σv/E = (0.339 ± 0.010) * 10−38 cm2/ (GeV·nucleon). Between 50 and 150 GeV no energy dependence of σ/E was observed within ±3% for neutrino and ±4% for antineutrino interactions.

Observation of Octet and Decuplet Hyperons in $e^+ e^-$ Annihilation at 10-{GeV} Center-of-mass Energy

The ARGUS collaboration Albrecht, H. ; Binder, U. ; Bockmann, P. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 183 (1987) 419-424, 1987.
Inspire Record 236982 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30227

Results on hyperon production are reported for data accumulated at 10 GeV centre-of-mass energy with the ARGUS detector. Signals for both the octet states Λ, Σ 0 and Ξ − and the decuplet states Σ ± (1385), Ξ 0 (1530) and Ω − are observed 1 (references to a specific state are to be interpreted as also implying the charge conjugate state), some for the first time in e + e − annihilation. Baryon rates from γ dir (1S) decays are enhanced by a factor of about 3 over the continuum.

Observation of a 1750-{MeV} Narrow Meson Decaying Into $\eta \eta$

Phys.Lett.B 182 (1986) 105, 1986.

A narrow meson which decays into ηη is observed in 38 GeV/ c π − p collisions at large momentum transfer. The experiment has been performed at the Serpukhov accelerator with the GAMS-2000 spectrometer. The mass of this new meson is (1755 ± 8) MeV, its width is less than 50 MeV. Its spin-parity is J PC =0 ++ or less probably 2 ++ .

Charm Production in Deep Inelastic Muon - Iron Interactions at 200-{GeV}/$c$

The European Muon collaboration Arneodo, M. ; Aubert, J.J. ; Bassompierre, G. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 35 (1987) 1, 1987.
Inspire Record 230629 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.15765

Dimuon and trimuon events have been studied in deep inelastic muon scattering on an iron target at an incident muon energy of 200 GeV. The events are shown to originate mainly from charm production. Comparison of the measured cross sections with data taken at higher muon energies shows that charm production originates predominantly from transverse virtual photons. Within the framework of the photon gluon fusion model this indicates that the parity of the gluon is odd.

Phys.Rev.D 35 (1987) 2265, 1987.

Using the CUSB-II detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have measured Bμμ, the branching fraction into muons, of the Υ’’ meson. We find Bμμ(Υ’’)=(1.53±0.33±0.21)%, from which the Υ’’ total decay width is 25.5±5.0 keV. From this result we obtain αs=0.170−0.012+0.015, ΛMS¯=148−39+56 MeV. (MS¯ denotes the modified minimal-subtraction scheme).

2.22-{GeV} $\eta \eta^\prime$ Structure Observed in 38-{GeV}/$c$ and 100-{GeV}/$c \pi^- p$ Collisions

Phys.Lett.B 177 (1986) 120, 1986.

A structure has been observed at 2220 MeV in the mass spectrum of ηη ′ systems produced by 38GeV/ c and 100 GeV/ c ′ negative pions on protons. The angular distribution of the decay products shows that this structure is presumably a spin J ⩾ 2 meson.

Measurement of Total Cross-sections for Neutrino and Anti-neutrino Charged Current Interactions in Hydrogen and Neon

The BEBC WA21 & BEBC WA59 collaborations Aderholz, M. ; Corrigan, G. ; Hoffmann, E. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 173 (1986) 211, 1986.
Inspire Record 227412 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30261

BEBC filled in turn with hydrogen, and with a neon-hydrogen mixture, was exposed to the CERN SPS wide band neutrino and antineutrino beams. The ratios of the charged-current cross sections per nucleon, σ(νH 2 ) σ(ν Ne ) and σ( ν H 2 ) σ( ν Ne ) , between 20 and 300 GeV were found to be 0.656 ± 0.020 and 1.425 ± 0.052, respectively. Multiplying these ratios by the revised cross sections in neon, σ(ν Ne ) E = (0.723 ± 0.038) × 10 −38 cm 2 / GeV per nucleon and σ( ν Ne ) E = (0.351 ± 0.019) × 10 −38 cm 2 / GeV per nucleon, and their ratio, σ( ν Ne ) σ(ν Ne ) = 0.485 ± 0.020 ,, yields values for the total charged-current cross sections on protons, σ(νp)/ E and σ( ν p ) E , of (0.474 ± 0.029) × 10 −38 cm 2 /GeV and (0.500 ± 0.032) × 10 −38 cm 2 /GeV. respectively, and a value for the ratio σ( ν p ) σ(ν p ) of 1.053 ± 0.066.

Phys.Rev.Lett. 56 (1986) 1222, 1986.

We have observed decays of the ϒ(1S) into hadronic final states containing high-energy photons. These are interpreted as coming from the decay ϒ(1S)→γ+gluon+gluon. We compare the shape of the observed photon energy spectrum with several theoretical predictions and deduce the value of the strong-coupling constant αs and the QCD scale parameter ΛMS― (MS― denotes the modified minimal-subtraction scheme) associated with each prediction.
