This paper presents the results of a study of the dominant neutral final states from π−p interactions. The data were obtained in an experiment performed at the Brookhaven National Laboratory Alternating Gradient Synchrotron, using a set of steel-plate optical spark chambers surrounding a liquid-hydrogen target. We present differential and total cross sections for the reactions (1) π−p→n+π0 and (2) π−p→n+η0(η0→2γ) and total cross sections for the reactions (3) π−p→n+kπ0 (k=2, 3, 4, and 5) and (4) π−p→all neutrals for eighteen values of beam momentum in the interval 1.3 to 4.0 GeV/c. The angular distributions for (1) and (2) have been analyzed in terms of expansions in Legendre polynomials, the coefficients for which are also given.

EVIDENCE AGAINST THE NARROW S (1936) IN A MEASUREMENT OF ANTI-P P TOTAL CROSS-SECTION

Kamae, T. ; Aihara, H. ; Chiba, J. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 44 (1980) 1439-1442, 1980.
Inspire Record 157934 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20724

The total p¯p cross section has been measured in the S region by the transmission method with use of a beam-monitoring spectrometer. The result is inconsistent with the existence of the narrow resonance S(1936) with cross sections reported by previous experiments.

We present the analysis of 64 000 K−p→Σ−π+ and 89 000 K−p→Σ+π− events obtained with the Berkeley 25-in. hydrogen bubble chamber. Total cross sections and Legendre-polynomial expansion coefficients describing the differential cross sections and polarizations are presented in 10-MeV/c momentum intervals extending from 220 to 470 MeV/c. This paper completes the series devoted to all K−p final states in this momentum range.

MEASUREMENT OF POLARIZATION IN K- p ELASTIC SCATTERING BETWEEN 0.955-GeV/c AND 1.272-GeV/c

Bryant, H.C. ; Carter, A.A. ; Coupland, M. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 168 (1980) 207-221, 1980.
Inspire Record 143628 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.34502

The polarization parameter has been measured for K − p elastic scattering at nine incident beam momenta between 0.955 and 1.272 GeV/ c covering the c.m. angular range −0.9 < cos θ ∗ < + 0.9 . Experimental results and coefficients of Legendre polynomial fits to the data are presented and compared with other measurements and a partial-wave analysis.

Measurement of $p \bar{p}$ Backward Elastic Scattering Cross-section From 406-{MeV}/$c$ to 922-{MeV}/$c$

Phys.Rev.Lett. 43 (1979) 1901, 1979.
Inspire Record 143684 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20757

The cross section for 180° elastic scattering of antiprotons by protons between 406 and 922 MeV/c has been measured. A single-arm spectrometer detected recoil protons corresponding to events with 〈cosθc.m.〉=−0.994. The regions of the reported resonances at 1936 and 2020 MeV were scanned in 10-MeV/c steps with a typical statistical error of ≈ 7% and an rms mass resolution of ±3 MeV. No narrow enhancements (Γ<10 MeV) were observed.

We present the first data on photon-photon annihilation into hadrons for CM energies > 1 GeV obtained with the detector PLUTO at the e + e − storage ring PETRA. Cross sections are extracted using an inelastic eγ scattering formalism. The results are compared to expectations from Regge-like models.

We present a measurement of the cross section for hadron production by e+e− annihilation in the vicinity of the previously observed resonance near 3.77 GeV. The data are used to determine the parameters of the ψ(3770) resonance. The values found are: mass, 3764±5 MeV/c2, total width, 23.5±5 MeV, and partial width to electron pairs, 276±50 eV.

Nucl.Phys.B 165 (1980) 189-208, 1980.
Inspire Record 142130 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.34584

Differential cross sections of proton Compton scattering have been measured in the energy range between 375 MeV and 1150 MeV in steps of 25 MeV at c.m. angles of 130°, 100° and 70°. The recoil proton was detected with a magnetic spectrometer. In coincidence with the proton, the scattered photon was detected with a lead-glass Čerenkov counter of the total absorption type.
