The v and v nucleon total cross-sections have been determined as a function of energy using a sample of 2500 v and 950 v event. The results are compared with predictions of scaling and charge symmetry hypotheses.

We have remeasured the total cross section for proton-proton scattering at 2-6 GeV/c in the spin states ↑↑ and ↑↓ perpendicular to the beam direction. With the reduced errors significant differences were found between the two cross sections.

We have measured the production cross section for K s 0 in e + e − annihilation from 3.6 to 5.0 GeV center of mass energy. A substantial increase of the K s 0 yield is observed around 4 GeV in qualitative agreement with the charm hypothesis.

Average total cross sections are given for neutrino charged current interactions at neutrino energies of 2.87 GeV and 9.05 GeV. The ratios 〈σ〉 〈E〉 are 0.69 ± 0.05 and 0.61 ± 0.06 in units of 10 −38 cm 2 /GeV nucleon, respectively The errors include both statistical and systematic uncertainties.

This Letter compares neutral-current and charged-current scaling-variable distributions in neutrino-nucleon interactions induced by a narrow-band beam at Brookhaven National Laboratory; the x distribution of neutral-current events has been reported previously. The first measurement of flux-normalized neutrino cross sections from a narrow-band beam in the energy range Eν=3−9 GeV is also presented.

We present new high statistics data on hadron production in photon-photon reactions. The data are analyzed in terms of an electron-photon scattering formalism. The dependence of the total cross section of Q 2 , the four-momentum transfer squared of the scattered electron, and on the mass W of the hadronic system is investigated. The data are compared to predictions from Vector-Meson Dominance and the quark model.

We have used the momentum spectrum of leptons produced in semileptonic B-meson decays to set a 90%-confidence-level upper limit on Γ(b→ulν)Γ(b→clν) of 4%. We also measure the semileptonic branching fractions of the B meson to be (12.0±0.7±0.5)% for electrons and (10.8±0.6±1.0)% for muons.

The cross-section ratio of neutral-current and charged-current semileptonic interactions of muon-neutrinos on isoscalar nuclei has been measured with the result:Rv=0.3093±0.0031 for hadronic energy larger than 4 GeV. From this ratio we determined the electroweak mixing angle sin2θW, wheremc is the charm-quark mass in GeV/c2. Comparison with direct measurements ofmw andmz determines the radiative shift of the intermediate boson mass Δr=0.077±0.025(exp.)±0.038(syst.), in agreement with the prediction. Assuming the validity of the electroweak standard theory we determined ϱ=0.990−0.013(mc−1.5)±0.009(exp.)±0.003(theor.).

STATISTICAL ERROR IN THE VALUE CITED IS REDUCING, WHEN CUT IS MORE STRINGENT?.
A double-scattering experiment of antiprotons on carbon has been carried out at the Low-Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR) at CERN, to measure the polarization parameter A p C in antiproton-carbon elastic scattering at small angles. The polarization parameter has been inferred from the azimuthal distribution of the antiprotons after the second scattering. Data have also been collected with a liquid-hydrogen target as the second scatterer, thus allowing the sign of A p C to be determined. The experiment has been performed at two momenta of the extracted antiproton beam, 800 and 1100 MeV/c. A small positive value of the polarization has been observed, compatible with energy independence and a linear increase with the momentum transfer q . Parametrizing A p C as a c q , we get a c = +0.72 0.10 +0.09 ( GeV / c ) −1 . This result is compared with potential model predictions for N̄N amplitudes through a Glauber theory calculation.

The two-jet differential cross section d3σ(p¯p→jet 1+jet 2+X)/dEtdη1dη2, averaged over -0.6≤η1≤0.6, at √s =1.8 TeV, has been measured in the Collider Detector at Fermilab. The predictions of leading-order quantum chromodynamics for most choices of structure functions show agreement with the data.
