We report on the measurement of the reaction e+e−→e+e− with a large—solid-angle electromagnetic shower detector at center-of-mass energies s=13 and 17 GeV. Comparison of our results with predictions of quantum electrodynamics shows excellent agreement in both the angular distribution and energy dependence. Values of cutoff parameters are also given.

We present measurements from a counter-optical spark chamber experiment of the differential cross sections for p̄p → π 0 π 0 , π 0 η 0 at 25 momenta in the range 1.1 − 2.0 GeV/ c (c.m. energy 2.12 to 2.43 GeV). Approximately 750 000 pictures were taken in the experiment.

We present results on charged multiplicity nch=2 and nch>2 muon events produced in e+e− collisions with 〈s12〉=7.3 GeV at 90° to the beams. The background-subtracted inclusive cross section for the nch=2 events is 10.2±5.4 pb/sr, in agreement with the expected contribution from the heavy lepton τ. The cross section for the nch>2 events is 19.0±6.5 pb/sr whereas we expect only 2.9 pb/sr from the τ, indicating that we may be seeing the weak decays of charmed mesons.

p-He4 elastic scattering has been measured at 1.05-GeV incident proton energy, close to 180° in the center of mass. The steep backward peak observed at lower energies is still present, but its slope appears to decrease.

The angular distribution of the inclusive reaction 4 He + p → 3 He + X was measured with 6.85 GeV/ c incident alphas. At large angles, the observed kinematics corresponds to the elastic scattering on the target proton of an 3 He present in the incoming 4 He, the remaining neutron being a spectator. This shows the presence of an important component of 3 He in 4 He. The integrated cross section for 3 He production is σ 3He = 24.1 ± 1.9 mb.

Pion production on a CD2 target has been measured using the high-resolution magnetic spectrometer SPES I. Differential cross sections for the reaction D(p, π+)T have been determed at Tp=410, 605, and 809 MeV. The present data, together with previous results establish a complete angular distribution of the reaction D(p, π+)T at ∼ 600 MeV and the energy dependence of the differential cross section for this reaction at several constant momentum transfers.

Elastik K − n ( I = 1) differential cross sections have been measured at 14 momenta between 610 and 940 MeV/ c , over the c.m. angular range −0.7 < cos θ ∗ < 0.8 . The results, which cover the c.m. energy range 1610–1765 MeV, have been fitted with Legendre polynomials and compared with some existing predictions from a partial-wave analysis.
