The couplings of the Z 0 to charged leptons are studied using measurements of the lepton pair cross sections and forward-backward asymmetries at centre of mass energies near to the mass of the Z 0 . The data are consistent with lepton universality. Using a parametrisation of the lepton pair differential cross section which assumes that the Z 0 has only vector and axial couplings to leptons, the charged leptonic partial decay width of the Z 0 is determined to be Г ol+ol− = 83.1±1.9 MeV and the square of the product of the effective axial vector and vector coupling constants of the Z 0 to charged leptons to be a ̌ 2 ol v ̌ 2 ol = 0.0039± 0.0083 , in agreement with the standard model. A parametrisation in the form of the improved Born approximation gives effective leptonic axial vector and vector coupling constants a ̌ 2 ol = 0.998±0.024 and v ̌ 2 ol = 0.0044±0.0083 . In the framework of the standard model, the values of the parameters ϱ z and sin 2 θ w are found to be 0.998±0.024 and 0.233 +0.045 −0.012 respectively. Using the relationship in the minimal standard model between ϱ z and sin 2 θ w , the results sin 2 θ SM w = 0.233 +0.007 −0.006 is obtained. Our previously published measurement of the ratio of the hadronic to the leptonic partial width of the Z 0 is update: R z = 21.72 +0.71 −0.65 .

Comparison of the Line Reversed Channels anti-p p --> pi- pi+ and pi+ p --> p pi+ at 6-GeV/c

Phys.Rev.Lett. 39 (1977) 378-381, 1977.
Inspire Record 124936 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20964

Differential cross sections have been measured for p¯p→π−π+ (1) and its line-reversed partner π+p→pπ+ (2) in the range tmin>t>−1.5 (GeV/c)2 at 6 GeV/c. Clear structure is seen in the differential cross section for Reaction (1) at t∼−0.4 (GeV/c)2. However, this feature is quite different from the striking dip seen in (2) at t∼−0.15 (GeV/c)2, indicating a failure of line reversal and disagreement with simple Regge models.

Electroweak Effects in $e^+ e^- \to e^+ e^-$ at $\sqrt{s}=29$-{GeV}

Inspire Record 230164 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3835

A high-precision measurement of the differential cross section for Bhabha scattering (e+e−→e+e−) is presented. The measurement was performed with the MAC detector at the PEP storage ring of the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, at a center-of-mass energy of 29 GeV. Effects due to electroweak interference are observed and agree well with the predictions of the Glashow-Salam-Weinberg model. The agreement between the data and the electroweak prediction rules out substructure of the electron up to mass scales of 1 TeV.

The differential cross sections for γp→γp and γp→π0p have been measured for incident photon energies in the range of 2 to 6 GeV and for |t| ranging from 0.7 to 4.3 GeV2. This corresponds to a center-of-mass angle range of 45° to 128°. The energy dependence of the data is compared to that predicted by several parton models.

Large Angle Neutron-Proton Elastic Scattering from 5-GeV/c to 12-GeV/c

Phys.Rev.Lett. 38 (1977) 1315, 1977.
Inspire Record 5159 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3372

Neutron-proton differential cross sections have been measured with good statistics for four-momentum transfers 0.14<−t≲19.0 (GeV/c)2 at laboratory momenta ranging from 4.5 to 12.5 GeV/c. The experiment was carried out in a neutron beam at the Argonne National Laboratory zero-gradient synchrotron. These results in conjunction with previous n−p charge-exchange data provide almost complete elastic-scattering angular distributions in this momentum range.

Proton proton elastic scattering analyzing power in the 2.16-GeV to 2.28-GeV energy region.

Z.Phys.C 76 (1997) 465-468, 1997.
Inspire Record 451186 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.13537

The angular dependence of the pp elastic scattering analyzing power was measured at SATURNE II with an unpolarized proton beam and the Saclay polarized proton target. The energy region in the vicinity of the accelerator depolarizing resonance Gγ = 6 at Tkin = 2.202 GeV was studied. Measurements were carried out at seven energies between 2.16 and 2.28 GeV from 17° to 55°CM. No significant anomaly was observed in the angular and energy dependence of the results presented, whereas the existing data sets differ in this energy range.

Studies of $\bar{p} p \to \bar{n} n$ and $\bar{n} p$ Annihilation at Incident Momenta of 700-{MeV}/$c$ and 760-{MeV}/$c$

Inspire Record 217418 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.1974

Results are presented on the charge exchange reaction\(\bar pp \to \bar nn\) and\(\bar np\) annihilations from bubble chamber exposures to antiproton beam of momenta 700 and 760 MeV/c. The differential cross section of\(\bar pp \to \bar nn\) shows a forward spike followed by a clear dip bump structure. Total annihilation cross section of\(\bar np\) for average\(\bar n\) momentum of 700 MeV/c has been evaluated to be 55.4±2.2 mb. The multiplicity, Feynmanx andpT2 distributions for inclusive charged pions in\(\bar pp\) and\(\bar np\) annihilations are found to be similar. The emission of charged pions from\(\bar np\) annihilations are found to be consistent with thermodynamic models with temperature ∼110 MeV.

Phys.Lett.B 387 (1996) 432-442, 1996.
Inspire Record 421997 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.47754

The differential cross-sections for e + e − → e + e − , e + e − → μ + μ − and e + e − → τ + τ − , and the total cross-section for e + e − → qq̄ at centre-of-mass energies of 130–140 GeV were studied using about 5 pb −1 of data collected with the OPAL detector at LEP in October and November 1995. The results are in agreement with the Standard Model predictions. Four-fermion contact interaction models were fitted to the data and lower limits were obtained on the energy scale Λ at the 95% confidence level.
