We present data on K − p reactions leading to the final states K 0 n , π 0 Λ, ηΛ, η'Λ, π − Σ + , K 0 Δ 0 (1230), and π − Σ + (1385) from a bubble chamber experiment at 14.3 GeV/ c K − lab momentum. Total and differential cross sections, Λ and Σ ∓ polarisations in π 0 Λ and π − Σ + final states as well as the Σ + (1385) density matrix elements are given.
NORMALIZED TO A TOTAL CROSS SECTION OF 21.5 +- 0.2 MB (GALBRAITH ET AL, PR 138B, 913 (1965)).

The reaction π − p↑→ π − π + π − p has been measured at 17 GeV/ c using a polarized target. The data sample contains about 60 000 interactions on polarized protons. The nucleon polarization as a function of momentum transfer is very similar to elastic π − p scattering and is nearly independent of the π mass, except for a possible structure around 1.2 GeV.

Measurements of the differential cross section for the reactions π+p→K+Σ+ and π+p→K+Y*+(1385) are reported at 3.5, 3.75, 4.0, 4.25, 4.5, 4.75, 5.0, 6.0, 10.0, and 14.0 GeV/c. Polarization in π+p→K+Σ+ is also reported at 6.0, 10.0, and 14.0 GeV/c. At small |t|, the cross section for π+p→K+Σ+ is well described by an exponential Aebt with slopes in the range b≈8−10 (GeV/c)−2; for |t|>0.5 (GeV/c)2 this slope decreases considerably. The cross section for π+p→K+Y*+(1385) is well described for |t|>0.2 (GeV/c)2 by a single exponential of slope about half that for π+p→K+Σ+; there is no break near |t|>0.5 (GeV/c)2. We observe a dip in this cross section near t=0. The polarization in π+p→K+Σ+ is consistent with zero for |t|<0.4 (GeV/c)2 and becomes large and positive for larger |t|.

The polarization parameter P has been measured for elastic π + p, K + p and pp scattering at 45 GeV/c. Four-momentum transfer ranges from −0.08 to −1.1 (GeV/) 2 for pp, and from −0.08 to −0.9 (GeV/) 2 for π + p and K + p. The energy dependence of the polarization P ( t ) in π + p and in K + p above 6 GeV/c incident momentum is compatible with interference between pomeron and Regge poles. On the other hand, the polarization in p p elastic scattering decreases faster than ordinary Regge model predictions. This result can be explained by interference between non flip and flip amplitudes of the pomeron, leading to negative values for the polarization.

We present a measurement of the polarization of Antilambda hyperons produced in nu_mu charged current interactions. The full data sample from the NOMAD experiment has been analyzed using the same V0 identification procedure and analysis method reported in a previous paper for the case of Lambda hyperons. The Antilambda polarization has been measured for the first time in a neutrino experiment. The polarization vector is found to be compatible with zero.

Results are presented on the inclusive photoproduction of λ and λ for incident photon energies between 25 and 70 GeV. The slope parameter of the p T 2 distribution is found to be 2.83±0.1 GeV −2 for λ and 3.28±0.25 GeV −2 for λ . The x F distributions, measured in the range −0.2 to 0.7, show that while λ are produced centrally, λ production extends to more negative values of x F ; the shapes show no energy dependence and are similar to those in pion-induced reactions. The polarization of the produced λ is less than 10%. The results are discussed in terms of vector dominance and quark fusion models.
