The differential cross section for π − p → n π o has been measured in detail from 150 to 600 MeV. The backward cross section has a previously unobserved dramatic dip at 425 MeV. We interpret this dip in terms of interference between the P 33 (1236) and the P 11 (1470) resonances. These data provide strong evidence for the adequacy of the phase shift solutions in this energy range.

Investigation of the phi-meson resonance by electron-positron colliding beams

Phys.Lett.B 34 (1971) 328-332, 1971.
Inspire Record 69313 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28704

Using the colliding beam machine, VEPP-2, the excitation curve of the ø-meson resonance was investigated in the three main decay modes. The resonance parameters obtained are the width, the total cross-section and the branching ratios. Namely: Γ = (4.67 ± 0.42) Mev B ( K + K − ) = (54.0 ± 3,4) % σ o = (3.96 ± 0.35) μB B ( K o s K O L ) = (25.7 ±3,0) % B ( e + e − = (2,81 ± 0.25) × 10 −4 B ( π + π − π o ) = (20.3 ± 4,2) %

Pi+ p elastic scattering at 3.6 gev/c

Macnaughton, J. ; Butler, W.R. ; Coyne, D.G. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 33 (1971) 101-108, 1971.
Inspire Record 68509 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33221

The elastic scattering of 3.6 GeV/ c π + mesons by protons has been studied in a hydrogen bubble chamber experiment. The elastic cross section has a measured value of 7.07 ± 0.20 mb. The forward diffraction peak has been fitted in the region 0.05 ≦ − t ≦ 0.6 (GeV/ c ) 2 by a form (d σ /d t ) = Ae Bt , where A = 46.5 ± 1.8 mb/(GeV/ c ) 2 and B = 6.85 ± 0.20 (GeV/ c ) −2 . From this fit and the optical theorem, the magnitude of the ratio of real to imaginary forward amplitude is 0.39 ± 0.06, in reasonable agreement with dispersion relation calculations and simple Regge model predictions.

A study of k pi pi states produced in 10 gev/c k+ p interactions

Nucl.Phys.B 25 (1970) 49-74, 1971.
Inspire Record 68842 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33832

We present an analysis of the K ππ system produced in 10 GeV/ c K + p interactions. We show that the low-mass enchancement between 1.2 and 1.4 GeV/ c 2 on the K ππ mass spectrum is predominantly 1 + throughout, give the relative amplitudes for the decay of this system into K ∗ (890) π and K ρ , and offer new evidence for the presence of two 1 + resonances in this mass region.

We have measured large-angle electron-positron pairs from the reaction γ +Be → Be+e + +e − in the e + e − invariant-mass region of 610 < m < 850 MeV/ c 2 . The phase of the photoproduction amplitude of the ϱ-meson at 4.1 – 6.1 GeV was found to deviate from pure imaginary by 11.8° ± 4.4° which corresponds to a ratio of the real to imaginary ϱ-nucleon amplitude of β = −0.2 ± 0.1.

Total hadronic cross-section of gamma rays in hydrogen in the energy range 0.265-GeV to 4.215-GeV

Armstrong, T.A. ; Hogg, W.R. ; Lewis, G.M. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 5 (1972) 1640-1652, 1972.
Inspire Record 67298 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.22462

The total cross section of γ rays in hydrogen resulting in hadron production, σT, has been measured over the energy range 265-4215 MeV. A tagging system with narrow energy bins was employed. Structure in the resonance region followed by a steady fall with energy has been observed and the results are analyzed. The forward amplitude of γ-proton scattering is evaluated, and its behavior in the Argand diagram studied as a function of energy. The relationships of the measurements to Regge-pole theory and the vector-dominance model are detailed.

The total photon deuteron hadronic cross-section in the energy range 0.265-4.215 gev

Nucl.Phys.B 41 (1972) 445-473, 1972.
Inspire Record 75161 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32884

The total cross section for photoproduction of hadrons on the deutron, σ T d , has been measured for photon energies in the range 0.265–40215 GeV. From this, using results for the photon total cross section, obtained previously with the same apparatus, the neutron total cross section has been determined in the resonance region. The resonant structure is found to be quite different from that for the proton. Thereafter the neutron cross section falls off steadily with energy, and the values obtained are consistently lower than those for the proton. Forward scattering amplitudes have been evaluated for the deuteron.

Nucl.Phys.B 45 (1972) 41-46, 1972.

The total electromagnetic cross sections of g-rays in hydrogen and deuterium have been measured over the energy range 265–4215 MeV using a photon tagging system. From these measurements, the total pair production cross sections are obtained, and the results are found to be in good agreement with the predictions of Jost, Luttinger and Slotnick.

Experimental verification of the Kramers-Kronig relation at high energy

Alvensleben, H. ; Becker, U. ; Biggs, P.J. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 30 (1973) 328-332, 1973.
Inspire Record 84536 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21393

The real part of the forward amplitude for Compton scattering on protons was measured through the interference between the Compton and Bethe-Heithler amplitudes by detecting the zero-degree electron pairs asymmetrically. The measurement was made at an average photon energy of 〈k〉=2.2 GeV, and an average momentum transfer to the recoil proton 〈t〉=−0.027 (GeV/c)2. The result confirms the prediction of the Kramers-Kronig relation.
