We observe a resonancelike structure in the total cross section for hadron production by e+e− colliding beams at a mass of 4414 ± 7 MeV having a total width Γ=33±10 MeV. From the area under this resonance, we deduce the partial width to electron pairs to be Γee=440±140 eV. Further structure of comparable width is present near 4.1 GeV.

Coherent Photoproduction of Vector Mesons on Deuterium at 5.5-GeV

Gupta, Virendra Prakash ; Fung, S.Y. ; Oh, Y.T. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 14 (1976) 42-54, 1976.
Inspire Record 115714 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24672

Coherent photoproduction of vector mesons ρ0, ω, φ, and ρ′ on deuterium was studied using the SLAC 82-in. bubble chamber exposed to linearly polarized photons at 5.5 GeV. The reaction channel γd→π+π−d was studied in detail. Nine independent density-matrix parameters have been determined from the ρ0 decay distribution. ρ production in this channel was found to proceed almost completely through natural-parity exchange for |t|≤0.25 GeV2 and conserve s-channel c.m. helicity for |t|≤0.15 GeV2. A measurement of differential cross section for this channel has been made.

Inelastic Muon-Proton Scattering: Multiplicity Distributions, and Prong Cross-Sections

Inspire Record 108053 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24754

In a streamer-chamber experiment at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, we observed hadron production in inelastic collisions of 14-GeV positive muons in a liquid hydrogen target. We report on the experiment, the analysis, and the resulting cross sections for hadronic prongs as well as the charged-hadron multiplicity distributions.

Small Angle p p Elastic Scattering at Energies Between 285-MeV and 572-MeV

Aebischer, D. ; Favier, B. ; Greeniaus, L.G. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 13 (1976) 2478-2498, 1976.
Inspire Record 114031 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24779

Differential cross sections for elastic p−p scattering have been measured at 285, 348, 398, 414, 455, 497, 530, and 572 MeV kinetic energy. The experiment was performed at the CERN synchrocyclotron, using multiwire proportional chambers placed directly in a proton beam. Scattering was observed for 1.5°≲θ≲10° in the laboratory system. The ratio αp of the real and imaginary parts of the non-spin-flip nuclear forward amplitude was derived from the interference between the Coulomb and nuclear amplitudes. The values obtained are model-dependent, but in this energy range αp is positive and decreases with energy. Qualitatively good agreement with dispersion-relation predictions is observed.

A Study of K- n Interactions in the Center-Of-Mass Energy Range from 1.60-GeV to 1.75-GeV

Nucl.Phys.B 115 (1976) 82-113, 1976.

We present results of a K − d experiment performed with the 81 cm Saclay deuterium bubble chamber which was exposed to a K − beam at 4 momenta between 680 and 840 MeV/ c at the CERN PS. Cross sections were measured for inelastic two- and three-body K − n reactions on the basis of 5200 events/mb. Resonance production in the three-body reactions is discussed. In addition, differential cross sections and polarisations are presented for inelastic two-body reactions.

Double Statistical Tensors for the Reaction p p --> Delta++ Delta0 in a Range of 5-GeV/c to 25-GeV/c

The Genoa-World Proton-Proton collaboration Caso, C. ; Girimonte, L. ;
Nuovo Cim.A 33 (1976) 671, 1976.
Inspire Record 3097 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.9285

The joint decay distribution for the reaction pp → Δ++Δ0 is described in terms of double statistical tensors, which were determined in a model-independent way using the World Proton-Proton Data Summary Tape. The statistical tensors were calculated in nontransversal and in transversal reference frames. The results are presented as a function of the proton laboratory momentum, covering the range from 5 to 25 GeV/c. Due to a lack of statistics, the values as a function of the four-momentum transfers were obtained by adding together data from different energies. Results are again given in several reference frames.

Observation of the K* (1780) in the Reaction K+ p --> K0(s) pi+ p at 10-GeV/c

An analysis of the Kπ-system in the mass region of the K ∗ (1780), based on a sample of 46000 K s o π + final states, is presented. Evidence for a relatively narrow width, τ ≈ 100 MeV, and for the spin parity assignment J P = 3 − is found.

Measurement of Proton Proton Elastic Scattering in Pure Initial Spin States at 11.75-GeV/c

Phys.Lett.B 63 (1976) 239-244, 1976.
Inspire Record 114488 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27638

The elastic cross section for proton proton scattering at 11.75 GeV/ c was measured at the Argonne ZGS using a 50% polarized target. In the range p ⊥ 2 =0.6 → 2.2 (GeV/ c ) 2 we obtained precise measurements of d σ d t(ij) for the ⇈ ⇊, and ⇅ initial spin states perpendicular to the scattering plane. We confirmed that the asymmetry parameter, A , decreases with energy in the diffraction peak, but is approximately energy-independent at large p ⊥ 2 . We found that the spin correlation parameter c nn acquires rather dramatic structure, and at large p ⊥ 2 seems to grow with energy.

The Polarized Beam Asymmetry in Photoproduction of eta Mesons from Protons at 2.5-GeV and 3.0-GeV

Bussey, P.J. ; Raine, C. ; Rutherglen, J.G. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 61 (1976) 479-482, 1976.
Inspire Record 108515 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27687

Measurements of the polarised beam asymmetry parameter Σ for eta photoproduction from protons, have been carried out at incident energies of 2.5 GeV and 3.0 GeV, and for various t -values between −0.2 (GeV/c) 2 and −1.2 (GeV/c) 2 . The values of Σ are close to +1 for values of | t | less than 0.7 (GeV/c) 2 , showing that there can be little contribution from unnatural parity exchange in any Regge exchange model of the process, in disagreement with present theories. Differential cross sections for the process werre also measured, and are consistent with those from other experiments.
