Topological cross sections and characteristics of charged particle multiplicity distributions for¯nn andnn interactions and¯nn annihilations at 6·1 GeV/c are presented. KNO-distributions for¯nn andnn interactions are very similar. Characteristics for¯nn and¯pp annihilations are identical at equal energies.

The ρ0-meson spin alignment is studied in p¯p interactions at 22.4 and 12 GeV/c and in the reaction p¯p→2π++2π−+neutrals at 5.7 GeV/c. An essential ρ0-meson spin alignment is observed. The values of the ρ00T element of the ρ0-meson spin-density matrix in the transversity frame are 0.56 ± 0.07, 0.53 ± 0.05, and 0.54 ± 0.04 for the above-mentioned interactions, respectively. An increase of ρ00T with ρ0 transverse momentum is obtained.

Results of a search for a predicted enhancement of several microbarns in the charm-photoproduction cross section just above threshold are reported. No charm decays were detected, from which an upper limit to the charm cross section of 94 nb (90% C.L.) at Eγ≃10 GeV was obtained. Upper limits in the range 270 to 450 nb were also obtained for the peak cross sections for threshold enhancements in γp→D−Σc++ and similar channels.

We observe production of a Ξ * (2370) in the reactions K − p→ [YK¯π] K, [YK¯π] Kπ and [ΩK] (K or Kπ) at 8.25 GeV/ c in a high statistics bubble chamber experiment. The mass and width are determined to be 2373 ± 8 MeV and 80 ± 25 MeV, respectively. The I = 1/2 assignment is strongly favoured.

We present evidence for a narrow Y ∗ with a mass of 3.17 GeV and a width ⩽ 20 MeV decaying to ΣKK̄ + pions, ΛKK̄ + pions and ΞK + pions. The data come from two high statistics K − p bubble chamber experiments with a sensitivity of ≈100 eV/ μb at 8.25 GeV/ c and ≈ 45 eV/ μb at 6.5 GeV/ c .
