Experimental details and channel cross sections are presented for five K − deuterium bubble chamber experiments. Utilising the Fermi motion of the neutron the K − n cross sections are extracted over the c.m. energy range 1750–2200 MeV and where possible results are compared to related channels from other experiments.

The s and u variations of the np charge-exchange (np→pn) cross section are measured to be relatively smooth and without structure at intermediate energies—in sharp contast to previous results.

Forward Inclusive Production Spectrum of $K(s$), $\Lambda^0$, $\bar{\Lambda}$0, and $n$ in the Collision of 200-{GeV}/$c \pi^-$, $K^-$, $\bar{p}$ and $p$ on Be

We have measured the forward production spectra of various neutral particles produced by π−, K−, p¯, and p at 200 GeV/c, and by π− at 290 GeV/c incident on a Be target. The salient features of these measurements are (1) copious production of KSo at large Feynman xL for incident π− and K−, (2) production of roughly equal fluxes of Λ0 and Λ¯0 for incident π−, and (3) close similarity of the following spectra: π−→n and K−→Λ0; π−→Λ0, π−→Λ¯0, and p→KS0; π−→KS0 and p→Λ0. The overall features of the various distributions seem to agree with the ideas of dimensional counting presented in the constituent-interchange model of quark collisions. Results are presented in terms of the invariant cross section Ed3σ(xL, PT=0)dp3 per Be nucleus for each inclusive reaction.

A Study of Inclusive $\Lambda$, $\Sigma^0$ and $\Sigma(1385)$ Production in $K^- p$ Interactions at 8.25-{GeV}/$c$

Inclusive Λ production has been studied in K − p interactions at 8.25 GeV/ c using about 69 000 events; the total cross section is found to be 3.35 ± 0.20 mb. A comparison has been made with Σ 0 and Σ(1385) inclusive production. Their influence on the inclusive Λ production is discussed. The inclusive Λ cross section and polarization is interpreted in terms of the triple-Regge model. In the target fragmentation region an effective Regge trajectory is determined which lies closer to the K than to the K ∗ . In the beam fragmentation region the cross-section data indicate an effective Regge trajectory which corresponds to the nucleon, while the polarization data require additional Regge exchanges to be present.

MEASUREMENTS OF THE REACTION K- N ---> PI- LAMBDA IN THE C.M.S. ENERGY RANGE 1750-MEV TO 2000-MeV

The angular distribution and polarization for the reaction K − n→ π − Λ have been measured in the c.m.s. energy range 1750 MeV to 2000 MeV by means of a bubble chamber experiment, producing on average 500 events of this type per 10 MeV energy interval. The data are compared with the predictions of a recent partial-wave analysis of this reaction.

Differential and Channel Cross-sections for the Reactions $K^0_L P \to K^0_S P$ and $K^0_L P \to \Lambda^0 \pi^+$ in the Center-of-mass Energy Range 1605-{MeV} to 1910-{MeV}

The differential and channel cross sections have been measured for the reactions K L 0 p → K S 0 p and K L 0 p → Λ 0 π + in nine energy intervals in the c.m. range 1605 to 1910 MeV. The regeneration reaction is a combination of the KN amplitudes (with I = 0 and 1) and the K N amplitude ( I = 1) and is very sensitive to the various KN phase-shift solutions, some of which show an exotic I = 0, P 1 resonance. Our results have been expressed in terms of frequency distributions and cross sections, normalised by the Λ 0 π + reaction. These results have been compared with the predictions of various partial-wave analyses. Qualitatively we can eliminate the P 1 non-resonant solution, though no solution correctly predicts our results.

Inclusive $\pi^0$ Production Over Large $X_{\perp}$ Transverse and $X_F$ Ranges in 200 GeV/c, 300 GeV/c and 400 GeV/c Proton - Beryllium Interactions

Inspire Record 141769 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.42706

Measurements of recognized π0 production in p-Be collisions for 0.1<X⊥<0.5 and −0.8<XF<0.0 at 200, 300, and 400 GeV/c are presented. These invariant cross sections are fitted by Edσdp3=A(1−XR)MP⊥−N over this range of X⊥ and XF with M=4.88±0.14 and N=8.90±0.10 independent of energy. No significant evidence for breaking of this scaling is observed over this large kinematic region at these energies.

Backward production of ω (1670) is observed in the reactions K − p→ φ + φ − ω 0 Λ 0 and K − p→ φ + φ − φ 0 φ 0 for | U ' Λ |<1.0 GeV 2 . The cross section for the ω (1670) → φ + φ − ω 0 decay mode is 1.90±0.35 μ b for 8.25 GeV/ c incident K − . Evidence is presented for the importance of the sequential decay, ω (1670) → B φ → ωφφ with a branching ratio ω (1670) → B φ /all ω (1670) → ωφφ =1.0± 0.25 0.00 .
