At the 500 MeV electron synchrotron in Bonn differential cross sections of the reaction γ + d → π 0 + d were measured in forward pion c.m. angles and photon energies between 340 and 420 MeV.

The reaction γ d→d ππ , γ p→p ππ and γ n→n ππ were studied in the SLAC 82″ deuterium filled bubble chamber, exposed to a linearly polarized photon beam of 7.5 GeV. All three reactions are dominated by ϱ 0 production. The differential cross section has a slope of ∼6.5 GeV −2 for nucleon reactions and a slope of ∼27 GeV −2 for coherent deuteron reactions. The behaviour of the density matrix elements shows that ϱ production conserves s -channel c.m.s. helicity and is dominated by natural parity exchange.

Total and partial γd, γp and γn reactions were studied in the SLAC 82 inch deuterium-filled bubble chamber, which was exposed to a linearly polarized photon beam at an energy of 7.5 GeV. We report total, topological and channel cross sections for these reactions. The γn average charge multiplicity was found to be one unit of charge less than the γp average charge multiplicity. The isoscolar-isovector interference term as calculated by comparing the γp charge symmetric reactions is found to be small.

The v and v nucleon total cross-sections have been determined as a function of energy using a sample of 2500 v and 950 v event. The results are compared with predictions of scaling and charge symmetry hypotheses.

Results from the study of reactions (1) K−d→K−π−π+d and (2) K−d→K−π−π+nps at 7.3 GeV/c are presented. The interactions are dominated by the production of K*(890), ρ(765), Q(1200−1450), and D*(2200) in (1) and Δ−(1236) in (2). Observation of ρ(765) and its possible source as a misidentified K*(890) is discussed. Evidence is observed of splitting of the Q into two resonances with masses and widths (in MeV) M1=1228±21, Γ1=111±33, M2=1414±15, and Γ2=89±24, L(1775) is observed in (1). An off-shell one-pion-exchange-model calculation is compared to (2). Cross sections and branching ratios of the Q resonances are estimated on the basis of the model.

Invariant cross-sections are presented for the inclusive reaction p + p → π o + anything, Measurements of large transverse momentum π o 's (2.5 GeV/ c < p ⊥ <9 GeV/ c ) were made near 90° at the CERN ISR at five centre-of-mass energies (√ s = 23.5, 30.6, 44.8, 52.7 and 62.4 GeV. At large p ⊥ , the invariant cross-sections are seem to vary with s and p ⊥ , in good agreement with a fit of the form Ap ⊥ − n F ( p ⊥ /√ s ), with n ≈8 and F ( p ⊥ /√ s )≈ exp (−26 p ⊥ /√ s ).

The result of a search for magnetic charged particles at 70 GeV IPHE proton synchrotron is presented. Using the ferromagnetic trap method the upper limit of the magnetic monopole production cross-section in proton-nucleon collisions was found to be α (95%) ⩾ × 10 −43 cm 2 .

From a bubble chamber exposure in an antiproton beam at 5.7 GeV/ c yielding 13 events/μb, the final states p ̄ p → Y 1 ∗+ (1385)Λ, Y 1 ∗+ (1385)Σ + , Y 1 ∗+ (1385) Y 1 ∗+ (1385) have been isolated. We have measured the total cross section, d σ /d t , and the complete density matrix of the Y ∗ for these processes. Upper limits have been set to the forbidden reactions p ̄ p → Y 1 ∗− (1385)Σ − , Y 1 ∗− (1385) Y 1 ∗− (1385) .
