A measurement of backward photoproduction of charged pion pairs on protons is reported. The pion pair mass spectrum shows strong ϱ ° and f production. Data are presented on the u and s dependence for ϱ O and f, together with the decay polarisation for the ϱ O .

Search for Charmed Particle Production in 15-GeV/c pi+ p Interactions

A search for the production of charmed particles in 15-BeV/c π+p interactions has been carried out. The search was sensitive to charmed particles in the 1.5 to 4.0 BeV mass range, with lifetimes ≲10−11 sec, decaying into a strange particle with up to eight additional pions. No evidence for the production of such particles was found.

A Search for Delta I = 2 Electromagnetic Currents in Pion Photoproduction

Differential cross sections for the reactions γp→π0p, π+n and γn→π−p, π0n were measured in a single experiment using tagged photons in the energy region 240-450 MeV incident on H21 and H22 targets. Results of the measurements of the ratios π0nπ0p and π−pπ+n are presented. The ratio of isotensor to isovector amplitude is found to be 0.00±0.02.

Pi0 and pi+ Production with Polarized Photons in the Energy Range 1-GeV - 2-GeV

The asymmetry of π o and π + photoproduction from hydrogen has been measured. The π o -mesons were detected at 130° cms with E γ ranged from 0.9 to 1.65 GeV, and the π + -mesons at 40° cms with E γ ranged from 0.9 to 1.2 GeV. The results agree with model predictions of single pion photoproduction in the resonance region using fixed- t dispersion relations.
