Differential cross sections for the reactions e−+p→e−+p+π0 and e−+p→e−+n+π+ have been measured near the Δ(1236) resonance at four-momentum transfers of 0.05, 0.13, 0.25, and 0.4 (GeV/c)2. A few measurements of the π+ angular distribution have been obtained at a four-momentum transfer of 0.6 (GeV/c)2. Cross sections for the π0 reaction are compared with dispersion-theory predictions at several pion-nucleon c.m. energies for each four-momentum transfer. A phenomenological analysis of the π0 results leads to the determination of the magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole partial-wave amplitudes and the γNΔ transition form factor. Evidence is found for the existence of a significant scaler-transverse interference term in the cross section, which is tentatively associated with the resonant scaler quadrupole interaction. Cross sections for π+ electroproduction are compared with dispersion theories using the pion form factor as a free parameter. The results suggest a form factor similar to that of the proton. A fit to the form-factor results, using the ρ-dominance model, requires mρ=560±80 MeV. The rms pion charge radius is estimated to be 〈r2〉12=0.86±0.14 F.

Electron-proton elastic scattering cross sections have been measured to determine the proton electromagnetic form factors at squared four-momentum transfers q 2 between 10 and 50 fm −2 . At these values of q 2 we measured angular distributions between 25° and 110° and in addition at 25° and 35° cross sections for q 2 from 2 to 20 fm −2 using the external electron beam of the Bonn 2.5 GeV electron synchrotron. Our results confirm deviations from the scaling law.

Inelastic electron-Proton Scattering at Large Momentum Transfers

Miller, Guthrie ; Bloom, Elliott D. ; Buschhorn, G. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 5 (1972) 528, 1972.
Inspire Record 67123 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.22355

Differential cross sections for electrons scattered inelastically from hydrogen have been measured at 18°, 26°, and 34°. The range of incident energy was 4.5 to 18 GeV, and the range of four-momentum transfer squared was 1.5 to 21 (GeVc)2. With the use of these data in conjunction with previously measured data at 6° and 10°, the contributions from the longitudinal and transverse components of the exchanged photon have been separately determined. The values of the ratio of the photoabsorption cross sections σSσT are found to lie in the range 0 to 0.5. The question of scaling of 2MpW1 and νW2 as a function of ω is discussed, and scaling is verified for a large kinematic range. Also, a new scaling variable which reduces to ω in the Bjorken limit is introduced which extends the scaling region. The behavior of σT and σS is also discussed as a function of ν and q2. Various weighted sum rules of νW2 are evaluated.

Elastic electron - Proton Scattering at Large Four Momentum Transfer

Inspire Record 73424 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21999

Electron-proton elastic-scattering cross sections have been measured at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center for four-momentum transfers squared q 2 from 1.0 to 25.0 (GeVc)2. The electric (GEp) and magnetic (GMp) form factors of the proton were not separated, since angular distributions were not measured at each q 2. However, values for GMp were derived assuming various relations between GEp and GMp. Several theoretical models for the behavior of the proton magnetic form factor at high values of q 2 are compared with the data.

Evidence for decays of the d- and e-mesons into delta pi in anti-p p annihilation at 700 mev/c

Nucl.Phys.B 44 (1972) 125-141, 1972.
Inspire Record 75085 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32849

A study is made of η 0 production in p p → 3π + 3π − π 0 (7500 events) at an incident momentum of 720 MeV/ c . The reaction is dominated by production of ω 0 (≈68 o/o). The η o production has been studied by means of two independent methods: the first, a study of correlations between the (4 π ) ± and (5 π ) 0 and the (3 π ) 0 systems, circumvents the problem of ω 0 reflections. The second attempts to isolate the η 0 4π channel by means of rigorous selections using the decay properties of η 0 and ω 0 . The results of the two methods are consistent and confirnm the production of σ +- , D 0 and E 0 with the decays ifD 0 → σ ± π ± → η 0 π + π ( su −), E 0 → σ ± π ∓ → η ( su 0) π + π − , E 0 → η 0 π + π − .

The reactions k- p ---> 0- 1/2+ at an incoming momentum of 4.25 gev/c

Inspire Record 84291 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32705

A bubble-chamber study is presented of a 10 events/μb experiment using K − mesons of 4.25 GeV/ c incident momentum. Differential and total cross sections are determined for 7 different reactions: K − p → K 0 n ( la ), → π 0 Λ ( lb ), → ηΛ ( lc ), → η′Λ ( ld ), → π − Σ ( le ), → π + Σ − ( lf ), K + Ξ − ( lg ) . The experimental characteristics in d σ /d t of each reaction are described: (la) shows a levelling off at t = 0 (GeV/ c ) 2 , a break at t = −0.6 (GeV/ c ) 2 and no backward events, (lb) d σ /d t has a smooth behaviour and a measurable backward component with an indication of a dip at u = −0.2 (GeV/ c ) 2 , (1c) d σ /d t shows a dip in the region between t ≈ −0.2 and −0.4 (GeV/ c ) 2 , (ld) d σ /d t has a smooth behaviour; neither this reaction nor the preceding one shows a clear evidence for backward events, (le) d σ /d t has a break at t = −0.5 (GeV/ c ) 2 ; there is a significant cross section in the backward region; (lf) and (lg) show mainly backward production. The polarization of the hyperon is measured in the reactions (lb), (lc), (ld) and (le) in the forward production peak. The statistics do not allow the detection of a definite structure in the polarization but the sign and magnitude are determined. An interpretation of the results is given in terms of a dual Regge model, including the effects of absorption as elaborated recently by several authors.

Nucl.Phys.B 76 (1974) 1-14, 1974.
Inspire Record 94609 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.32274

The reaction e − + p → e − + p + π 0 has been studied in the region of the Δ (1236) resonance at a four-momentum transfer of the virtual photon of 0.3 (GeV/ c ) 2 . Angles and momenta of the secondary electron and of the outgoing proton were measured in coincidence to obtain the angular dependence of the differential cross section. The angular distribution for s- and p-waves of the pion in the πN cm-system was fitted to the cross section for three W -bins around the maximum of the resonance. The contribution of the resonant multipoles M 1+ , E 1+ and S 1+ to the cross section as well as the contribution of the background amplitudes M 1− , E 0+ and S 0+ are given.

The reaction e − + p → e − + p + η has been studied in the region of the S 11 (1535)-resonance by detecting the recoil proton in coincidence with the scattered electron. The reaction has been observed at three four-momentum transfers of the virtual photon: q 2 = 0.2, 0.28 and 0.4 (GeV/ c ). First results of the differential cross section measurements are given and compared with quark model calculations.
