The CLEO experiment at the CESR collider has used 13.7 fb$^{-1}$ of data to search for the production of the $\Omega_c^0$ (css-ground state) in $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s} \simeq 10.6$ {\rm GeV}. The modes used to study the $\Omega_c^0$ are $\Omega^- \pi^+$, $\Omega^- \pi^+ \pi^0$, $\Xi^- K^- pi^+ \pi^+$, $\Xi^0 K^- pi^+$, and $\Omega^- \pi^+ \pi^- \pi^+$. We observe a signal of 40.4$\pm$9.0(stat) events at a mass of 2694.6$\pm$2.6(stat)$\pm$1.9(syst) {\rm MeV/$c^2$}, for all modes combined.

We report on a search for a supersymmetric $\tilde{B}$ meson with mass between 3.5 and 4.5 GeV/$c^2$ using 4.52 ${\rm fb}^{-1}$ of integrated luminosity produced at $\sqrt{s}=10.52$ GeV, just below the $e^+e^-\to B\bar{B}$ threshold, and collected with the CLEO detector. We find no evidence for a light scalar bottom quark.

A study of charm fragmentation into $D_s^{*+}$ and $D_s^+$ in $e^+e^-$ annihilations at $\sqrt{s}$=10.5 GeV is presented. This study using $4.72 \pm 0.05$ fb$^{-1}$ of CLEO II data reports measurements of the cross-sections $\sigma(D_s^{*+})$ and $\sigma(D_s^+)$ in momentum regions above $x=0.44$, where $x$ is the $D_s$ momentum divided by the maximum kinematically allowed $D_s$ momentum. The $D_s$ vector to vector plus pseudoscalar production ratio is measured to be $P_V(x(D_s^+)>0.44)=0.44\pm0.04$

The /\c->pKpi yield has been measured in a sample of two-jet continuum events containing a both an anticharm tag (Dbar) as well as an antiproton (e+e- -> Dbar pbar X), with the antiproton in the hemisphere opposite the Dbar. Under the hypothesis that such selection criteria tag e+e- -> Dbar pbar (/\c) X events, the /\c->pkpi branching fraction can be determined by measuring the pkpi yield in the same hemisphere as the antiprotons in our Dbar pbar X sample. Combining our results from three independent types of anticharm tags, we obtain B(/\c->pKpi)=(5.0+/-0.5+/-1.2)%

Using a data sample collected with the CLEO II detector at CESR, we have searched for dipion transitions between pairs of $\Upsilon$ resonances at energies near the $\Upsilon(4S)$. We obtain upper limits $B(\Upsilon(4S)\to \Upsilon(2S)\pi^+\pi^-) < 3.9 \times 10^{-4}$ and $B(\Upsilon(4S)\to \Upsilon(1S)\pi^+\pi^-) < 1.2 \times 10^{-4}$. We also observe the transitions $\Upsilon(3S)\to \Upsilon(1S)$, $\Upsilon(3S)\to \Upsilon(2S)$, and $\Upsilon(2S)\to \Upsilon(1S)$, from which we measure the cross-sections for the radiative processes $e^+e^- \to \Upsilon(3S)\gamma$ and $e^+e^- \to \Upsilon(2S)\gamma$.
The cross sections are averaged from the ones obtained for E+ E- --> GAMMA UPSI(nS) < PI+ PI- UPSI(mS) < MU+ MU- > > and E+ E- --> GAMMA UPSI(nS) < PI+ PI-UPSI(mS) < E+ E- > > channels with n=2,3, m=1,2.
Using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, we have made a measurement of R=sigma(e+e- ->hadrons)/sigma(e+e- ->mu+mu-) =3.56+/-0.01+/-0.07 at ECM=10.52 GeV. Using the CLEO detector at the Cornell $e~+e~-$ storage ring, CESR, we study the two-photon production of $\Lambda \overline{\Lambda}$, making the first observation of $\gamma \gamma \to \Lambda \overline{\Lambda}$. We present the cross-section for $ \gamma \gamma \to \Lambda \overline{\Lambda}$ as a function of the $\gamma \gamma$ center of mass energy and compare it to that predicted by the quark-diquark model.

Using the CLEO II detector operating at the e + e − Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR), we present evidence for new decay modes of the Ξ c + into Ξ 0 π + , Ξ 0 π + π 0 , and Ξ 0 π + π − π + . The branching ratios of these decay modes, relative to Ξ c + → Ξ − π + π + , have been measured to be 0.55±0.13±0.09, 2.34±0.57±0.37, and 1.74±0.42±0.27, respectively.
Charge conjugate modes are imlied. P(P=3,C=MAX) is the maximum momentum value and given by P(P=3,C=MAX)**2 = E(P=1)**2 - M(P=3)**2).
We have observed five new decay modes of the charmed baryon Λc+ using data collected with the CLEO II detector. Four decay modes, Λc+→pK¯0η, Ληπ+, Σ+η, and Σ*+η, are first observations of final states with an η meson, while the fifth mode, Λc+→ΛK¯0K+, requires the creation of an ss¯ quark pair. We measure the branching fractions of these modes relative to Λc+→pK−π+ to be 0.25±0.04±0.04, 0.35±0.05±0.06, 0.11±0.03±0.02, 0.17±0.04±0.03, and 0.12±0.02±0.02, respectively.

We report results on inclusive production of the charmed baryon Λc+ from e+e− annihilations at s=10.5 GeV. Measurements are presented of the inclusive cross section times branching fraction for the continuum production of Λc+ as observed in six different decay modes, and of a new, improved value of the Λc+ mass. The inclusive cross section times the branching fraction into pK−π+ is measured to be 10.0±1.5±1.5 pb summed over all xp. The branching fractions of Λc+ into pK¯0, pK¯0π+π−, Λπ+, Λπ+π−π+, and Ξ−K+π+ relative to that into pK−π+ are measured to be 0.44±0.07±0.05, 0.43±0.12±0.04, 0.18±0.03±0.03, 0.65±0.11±0.12, and 0.15±0.04±0.03, respectively. The Λc+ mass is measured to be 2284.7±0.6±0.7 MeV/c2. The measured momentum distributions for continuum production of Λc+ are compared to analytical fragmentation functions and to other measurements.

We present evidence from the CLEO detector for the charmed strange baryon Ξc0. It is seen in nonresonant e+e− annihilations at s of 10.5 GeV through its decay to Ξ−π+. The measured Ξc0 mass is 2471 ± 3 ± 4 MeV/c2.

We report results from two new methods for measuring the total production of charmed particles in nonresonant e+e− annihilations at √s =10.5 GeV. The rate for detection of events containing two reconstructed charmed mesons relative to that for events containing one is used to extract information about total charm production independent of decay branching fractions. The value of ΔRcc¯, the total charm-pair cross section normalized to the pointlike μ-pair cross section, is found to be 1.13−0.13+0.17±0.09, under an assumption of limited particle correlations. In an independent analysis the inclusive cross section for e+e−→qq¯→e±X is measured to be 0.293±0.017±0.017 nb. Using measured relative production rates and semileptonic branching fractions of D0 and D+ mesons and estimates of these quantities for Ds and Λc, this is found to correspond to ΔRcc¯=2.07±0.12±0.26. These two measurements are discussed in the context of measurements made by reconstruction of exclusive hadronic decay modes and of theoretical expectations.

We report results on the differential and total cross sections for inclusive production of the charmed particles D*+, D*0, D0, D+, Ds, and Λc in e+e− annihilations at √s=10.55 GeV. Widely used quark fragmentation models are discussed and compared with the measured charmed-particle momentum distributions. This comparison, as well as that with measurements at other center-of-mass energies, shows the need to take QCD corrections into account and their importance for a correct interpretation of the model parameters. The observed rate of D0 and D+ production is compared to the expected total charm production cross section. We measure the probability of a charmed meson being produced as a vector meson and the D*+ decay branching fraction into D0π+.

We have measured the inclusive branching ratio for B→ψX to be (1.09±0.16±0.21)%, and the exclusive branching ratios for B−→ψK− and B¯ ¯0 *0 to be (0.09±0.05)% and (0.41±0.18)%, respectively. The mass difference between neutral and charged B mesons is 1.1±2.1 MeV, while the difference between the mass of Υ(4S) and twice the mean B-meson mass is 18.5±3.0 MeV. The ψ momentum distribution implies a substantial two-body decay (in agreement with direct measurements), but also some combination of B→ψX with MX>1.5 GeV, and B→ψ’X.

We present evidence for inclusive F-meson production in B-meson decay. The product branching fraction B(B→FX)B(F+→φπ+) is measured to be 0.0038±0.010. The F momentum spectrum indicates the presence of a large component of two-body final states in the decay B→FX.

We have observed Λc baryons in nonresonant e+e− annihilation at energies around s=10.5 GeV through their decay to Λπ+π+π−. We measure the branching fraction to be (2.8 ± 0.7 ± 1.1)%. The momentum spectrum of the Λc is similar to that of charmed mesons, providing a constraint on models of charmed-quark hadronization.

Measurements of the e+e− cross section above BB¯ threshold are reported. Structures are observed which could be the ϒ(5S) and ϒ(6S) resonances. We report measurements of single-particle inclusive spectra and two-particle correlations in decays of the Υ(1S) resonance and in nonresonant annihilations of electrons and positrons at center-of-mass energy 10.49 GeV, just below BB¯ threshold. These data were obtained using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) and provide information on the production of π, K, ρ, K*, φ, p, Λ, and Ξ in quark and gluon jets. The average multiplicity of hadrons per event for upsilon decays (compared with continuum annihilations) is 11.4 (10.5) pions, 2.4 (2.2) kaons, 0.6 (0.5) ρ0, 1.2 (0.8) K*, 0.6 (0.4) protons and antiprotons, 0.15 (0.08) φ, 0.19 (0.07) Λ and Λ¯, and 0.016 (0.005) Ξ− and Ξ¯ +. We have also seen evidence for η and f0 production. The most significant differences between upsilon and continuum final states are (1) the inclusive energy spectra fall off more rapidly with increasing particle energy in upsilon decays, (2) the production of heavier particles, especially baryons, is not as strongly suppressed in upsilon decays, and (3) baryon and antibaryon are more likely to be correlated at long range in upsilon decay than in continuum events.

We report measurements from the CLEO detector of the rate of Ξ and Λ production in e+e− interactions in the upsilon region. Hyperon production from the decay of the ϒ(1s) is compared with continuum e+e− data. The ratio of the production rates of Λ (and Λ―) to K0 (and K―0) on the ϒ(1s) is 0.21 ± 0.03, much larger than in the continuum, 0.07 ± 0.01. The ratios of the production rates of the Ξ and Λ are comparable, 0.10±0.02 [ϒ(1S)] and 0.07 ± 0.02 (continuum). We discuss some implications of the data for gluon and quark fragmentation models.

We report measurements made with the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring (CESR) of the total cross section for e+e−→hadrons at the ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S), and in the nearby nonresonant continuum. We find R=3.77±0.06 (statistical) ± 0.24 (systematic) for the ratio of the nonresonant hadronic cross section to the cross section for muon-pair production at a center-of-mass total energy W=10.4 GeV. For the leptonic decay widths Γee of the ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S) we obtain 1.30±0.05±0.08, 0.52±0.03±0.04, and 0.42±0.04±0.03 keV, respectively.

A measurement is presented of the inclusive production of charged D* and neutral D mesons from nonresonant e+e− annihilation in the energy region near the ϒ(4S) resonance. The momentum distribution shows a large contribution at high momenta as expected for heavy quark production. Comparison of the spectrum with several phenomenological models is made. The relative yields of the D* and D mesons indicate that the charm cross section is dominated by the D* contribution.

Using the CLEO detector at the Cornell Electron Storage Ring, the authors have measured the leptonic branching fractions, Bμμ, of the ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S) to be 2.7±0.3±0.3%, 1.9±1.3±0.5%, and 3.3±1.3±0.7%, respectively. Combining these values of Bμμ with previous measurements of the leptonic widths of these resonances, the authors find the total widths of the ϒ(1S), ϒ(2S), and ϒ(3S) to be 48±4±4, 27±17±6, and 13±4±3 keV.

A measurement is presented of inclusive charged D*(2010) production from nonresonant e+e− annihilation in the center-of-mass energy (W) range 10.2 GeV<W<10.6 GeV. Charged D* mesons are identified by the decays D*+→D0π+→K−π+π+ and the charge conjugate mode.
