This Letter compares neutral-current and charged-current scaling-variable distributions in neutrino-nucleon interactions induced by a narrow-band beam at Brookhaven National Laboratory; the x distribution of neutral-current events has been reported previously. The first measurement of flux-normalized neutrino cross sections from a narrow-band beam in the energy range Eν=3−9 GeV is also presented.
Measured charged current total cross section.
We have measured the spin-correlation parameters A00kk, A00ks, and A00ss in p−p scattering between 400 and 600 MeV using a longitudinally polarized beam and a butanol target polarized in the horizontal plane. Owing to the restrictive geometrical acceptance of the target, the polarization axis of the target was oriented at an angle α with respect to beam direction. The parameters A00kk and A00ks were therefore measured as a linear combination at 577, 536, 514, 494, and 445 MeV. These experiments were extended to the measurement of A00ks and A00ss by using a transversely polarized beam. We present the results, which are compared with phase-shift predictions.

Relative cross sections have been measured for p¯p annihilation by a new technique in the invariant-mass range 1920-1960 MeV. The 90%-confidence upper limit on simple Breit-Wigner enhancements in the S region (between 1930 and 1942 MeV) of width 4 MeV or narrower is 12 mb MeV, assuming a simple dependence with momentum of the nonresonant cross section.

Inclusive K0K¯0, Λ0, and Λ¯0 cross sections have been determined using a 292-event/mb exposure of the hydrogen-filled 15-foot bubble chamber at Fermilab. From the invariant-mass distributions of V0π± pairs we find that σ(K*±(890))=4.4±1.4 mb, σ(Σ*±(1385))=0.54±0.40 mb, and σ(Σ¯*±(1385))=0.45±0.34 mb. It is estimated that 0.32 ± 0.11 of K0K¯0's, 0.21 ± 0.16 of Λ's, and 0.96 ± 0.75 of Λ¯'s originate from decays of K*(890) and Σ*(1385), respectively.

The Wolfenstein parameters D, R, and A and the polarization parameter P have been measured for p−p elastic scattering at 312, 392, 493, and 575 MeV kinetic energy. The center-of-mass angular range observed was from 3° to 33°. The experiment was performed at SIN, using a polarized proton beam. These data significantly improve the determination of I=1 phase shifts.

The production of Ks0, Λ0, and Λ¯0 has been measured in deep-inelastic muon scattering at 225 GeV; decays into two charged hadrons were detected. Momentum distributions are compared to the inclusive charged-hadron distributions measured in the same experiment. The range of virtual-photon parameters covered is 0.4<Q2<50 GeV2 and 20<ν<210 GeV.

Absolute differential cross sections for elastic electron-proton scattering have been measured in a four-momentum transfer range up to 1.4 fm −2 . Using a high pressure gas target system, we have obtained highly accurate data with a small normalization error of 0.5%. The electromagnetic form factors G E and G M have been extracted and the rms charge radius has been determined to be 〈r 2 E 〉 p 1 2 = 0.862±0.012 fm . The shape of the isovector spectral function near threshold shows a significant non-resonant contribution of the two-pion state. This enhancement is so strong that the derivative at q 2 = 0 differs considerably from the usual vector meson dominance model value. This result is in good agreement with theoretical predictions.

Results are presented from a study of inclusive neutral strange particle production by a 147 GeV/ c tagged π + /K + /p beam in the Fermilab 30-inch hydrogen bubble chamber. The experiment made use of the proportional hybrid spectrometer system. Results are based on 995 K S 0 , 485 Λ, and 83 Λ found in a sample of 132 000 pictures. Cross sections are given for inclusive production of these particles by each of the three beam particles, and comparisons are made with measurements at other energies. Topological cross sections are also calculated, and KNO multiplicity scaling is investigated. Distributions are presented of invariant cross sections as functions of the Feynman scaling variable x and c.m. rapidity y . The transverse momentum-squared distributions with their fitted slopes are also given. Comparisons are made of the production characteristics for the three beam types.

We present measurements of two-particle angular correlations in hadron jets produced in e + e − annihilation between 7.7 and 31.6 GeV c.m. energy. The data are compared to predictions of high order perturbative QCD calculations.
