New results of the neutron-proton spin-dependent total cross section difference$\Delta\sigma_L(np)$at the neutron beam kinetic energies 1.59, 1.79 and 2.20 GeV ar
Final results from the np data.
Values of the cross section difference at I=0 deduced by combining these npdata with pure pp (I=1) data from other experiments.
The production of eta pi - system at low mass by the pi- beam in the Coulomb field of Be nuclei was studied. The cross section of the reaction pi- Be --> eta pi- Be was compared to the experimental data on the decay eta --> pi+ pi- gamma and to the theoretical predictions.

The preliminary results of an investigation of a system of two K S mesons in the mass interval 1600–1950 MeV are reported. The events were obtained on a 6-m magnetic spark spectrometer at ITEP in π − p interactions at 40 GeV, using a neutral trigger which suppressed both charged particles and γ rays. A peak of width ≃30 MeV with statistical significance not lower than six standard deviations is observed with momentum transfer selection |tu|0.23 GeV2 near the mass 1775 MeV of the K S K S system. The observed phenomena can be interpreted as the existence of one resonance with the indicated parameters, or two narrower resonances. In the latter case, their masses are 1768±1.5 and 1787±1.5 MeV. The widths of these states are comparable to the mass resolution of the spectrometer (∼5 MeV). Estimates of the product σ ⋅BR(K S K S ) give ∼1.5 and 2.5 nb, respectively, for the first and second states.
One or two resonances solutions are used.
Single-spin asymmetries for hadrons have been measured in collisions of transversely-polarized 40 GeV/c proton beam with an unpolarized liquid hydrogen target. The asymmetries were measured for pi+-, K+-, protons and antiprotons, produced in the central region (0.02 < Xf < 0.10 and 0.7 < Pt < 3.4 GeV/c). Asymmetries for pi+-, K+- and antiprotons show within measurement errors the linear dependence on Xt and change a sign near 0.37. For protons negative asymmetry, independent of Xt has been found. The results are compared with those of other experiments and SU(6) model predictions.

The reaction π − N→π − ηηN off a carbon nucleus at P π =36 GeV/ c has been studied with the help of the wide aperture magnetic spectrometer VES. In the π − ηη system a resonance with M =1814±10 (stat.)±23 (syst.) MeV, Γ =205±18 (stat.)±32 (syst.) MeV has been observed. Its most probable quantum numbers are I G =1 + or 2 − .
