The differential cross section in free n-p forward elastic scattering has been measured for incident neutron energies of 378, 481, 582, 683, 784, 884, and 1085 MeV and for momentum transfer 0.01<‖t‖<0.08 (GeV/c)2. The experiment used a recoil-detector ionization chamber which served at the same time as a gas target. Special care has been taken to obtain a precise absolute normalization.

$P_{\tau}$ and $X_F$ Dependence of the Polarization of $\Sigma^+$ Hyperons Produced by 800-GeV/c Protons

Phys.Rev.D 52 (1995) 3777-3780, 1995.

We utilize the angle and momentum resolution of our apparatus to study the polarization of 375 GeV/c Σ+ hyperons produced by 800 GeV/c protons incident on a Cu target. By examining in detail two of our high statistics data samples, we find evidence for structure in the pt dependence of Σ+ polarization and are able to extract the xF dependence of the Σ+ polarization and compare it with xF behavior in the Λ0 and Ξ− systems.

Differential Cross-sections and Analyzing Powers for Small Angles $N P$ Elastic Scattering Between 376-{MeV} and 1135-{MeV}

Silverman, B.H. ; Lugol, J.C. ; Saudinos, J. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.A 499 (1989) 763-788, 1989.
Inspire Record 264337 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.36902

We have measured absolute differential cross sections and analyzing powers for neutron-proton elastic scattering for momentum transfer 0.01 < | t |< 0.08 (GeV/ c ) 2 at several energies between 378 and 1135 MeV. The ionization chamber IKAR filled with methane was used as both a gas target and recoil detector. For the analyzing-power measurements the scattered neutron was detected in scintillation counters in coincidence with the recoil proton detected in IKAR. Special care was taken to ensure a precise absolute normalization of the cross sections, with overall systematic uncertainties of 4–7%.

Nucl.Phys.B 214 (1983) 1-20, 1983.
Inspire Record 192453 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.33966

Absolute differential cross sections for pp elastic scattering have been measured at kinetic energies of 648, 746, 795, 843, 892, 942 and 992 MeV and for momentum transfer 0.006 < z . sfnctz . sfnc <0.040 (GeV/ c ) 2 . Both scattered and recoil protons were detected in coincidence. The slope parameters of the diffraction cone and the contribution of the spin-spin amplitudes to forward elastic pp scattering were determined.

Measurement of the Branching Ratio for $\Xi^- \to \Sigma^- \gamma$ Radiative Decay

The E761 collaboration Dubbs, T. ; Albuquerque, I.F. ; Bondar, N.F. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 72 (1994) 808-811, 1994.
Inspire Record 358245 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.18430

We have measured the branching ratio for the hyperon radiative decay Ξ−→Σ−γ from a sample of 211±33 events obtained in the polarized 375 GeV/c charged hyperon beam at Fermilab. We find B(Ξ−→Σ−γ/Ξ−→Λ0π−)=(1.22±0.23±0.06)×10−4 where the quoted errors are statistical and systematic, respectively. We have also obtained an indication that the sign of the asymmetry parameter of this decay is positive.

Measurement of the Magnetic Moments of $\Sigma^+$ and $\bar{\Sigma}$ Hyperons

Phys.Rev.Lett. 71 (1993) 3417-3420, 1993.
Inspire Record 359369 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.19719

We have measured the magnetic moments of the Σ+ and Σ¯ − hyperons produced by 800-GeV protons incident on a Cu target. We determine the Σ+ magnetic moment to be (2.4613±0.0034±0.0040)μN where the uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively. In this first measurement we determine the magnetic moment of the Σ¯ − to be -(2.428±0.036±0.007)μN. The magnetic moments of the Σ+ and Σ¯ − are consistent with each other in magnitude but opposite in sign as required by CPT invariance.

We have mesured the polarization of 375-GeV/c Σ+ and Σ¯ − hyperons produced by 800-GeV/c protons incident on a Cu target. We find that the Σ+ polarization rises with increasing pt to a maximum of 16% at pt=1.0 GeV/c and then decreases to 10% at pt=1.8 GeV/c. We compare this Σ+ polarization with data at lower energies. The Σ¯ − polarization has been measured for the first time. It has the same sign as the Σ+ but smaller magnitude in a similar kinematical region.
