The production of enutral kaons in e + e − annihilation has been measured for c.m. energies between 3.4 GeV and 7.6 GeV. Near 4 GeV the inclusive K S cross section shows an increase and structure similar to total hadron production. Roughly 40–45% of all hadronic final states contain kaons, except at 4.028 GeV and 4.415 GeV, where a significantly larger kaon fraction is observed.

THIS IS TWICE THE MEASURED KS CROSS SECTION. THE ERRORS ARE STATISTICAL ONLY. THERE IS 15 PCT ABSOLUTE NORMALIZATION ERROR, PLUS POSSIBLY SOME ENERGY DEPENDENT ERROR. THE DATA ARE NOT EQUALLY SPACED IN THE ENERGY INTERVALS.
The reactions K − d→ Σ − p, K − d→ Σ − (1385)p, K − d→ Λ (1405)n and K − d→ Λ (1520)n have been studied at K − momenta between 686 and 844 MeV/ c in an experiment with the 81 cm Saclay bubble chamber at CERN. About 630 000 pictures have been analyzed. Partial and differential cross sections are presented. A one-nucleon-exchange model is used to extract the kaon-nucleon-hyperon coupling constants from these results. For g( K N Σ(1197)), g( K N Σ(1385)) and g( K N Λ(1405)) we find values which are compatible with the SU(3) predictions. The coupling constant g( K N Λ(1520)) obtained by our method agrees with that determined from the partial decay width for Λ(1520)→ K N .

Results are presented on the inclusive reactions p p → K 0 X , p p → Λ X and p p → Λ X at an incident antiproton momentum of 12 GeV/ c in BEBC. The cross sections are studied as functions of the Feynman scaling variable x , the rapidity, the transverse momentum of the V 0 and the missing mass squared. The dependence of the Λ and Λ polarization on x are also studied. Comparisons with proton-proton data at 12 GeV/ c are also made. Finally, events with two detected V 0 are analyzed in order to study correlations arising from the production of two strange neutral particles.

We have measured the inclusive production of massive dimuons (7<~Mμμ<~11 GeV/c2) by 200-, 300-, and 400-GeV protons incident on Cu in order to check whether the dimensionless cross section Mμμ3[dσdMμμdy]y=0 is a function of Mμμ2s alone, where s is the square of the c.m. energy. The results support the scaling hypothesis.

This paper reports measurements of the inclusive pion electroproduction reaction e+N→e+π±+ anything with both proton and neutron targets for pions produced along and near the direction of the virtual photon. Two independent purposes of these measurements were to provide data at low ε and at high Q2. Data are reported for the (W,Q2,ε) points (2.2 GeV, 1.2 GeV2, 0.45), (2.7, 2.0, 0.35), (2.7, 3.3, 0.40), (2.7, 6.2, 0.40), and (2.7, 9.5, 0.40). The data are used to test Feynman scaling and to compare the ratio of the cross sections for charged-pion production to the quark-model predictions. The data are also used in conjunction with the data from earlier experiments to separate the scalar and transverse components of the cross section.

We observe a resonance in the total cross section for hadron production in e+e− annihilation at a mass of 3772±6 MeV/c2 having a total width of 28±5 MeV/c2 and a partial width to electron pairs of 370±90 eV/c2.

We have measured the difference between the pp total cross-sections for parallel and anti-parallel longitudinal spin states at beam momenta of 3 and 6 GeV/ c . These results, combined with our previous measurements, at lower momenta, are useful in clarifying a striking structure appearing at around 1.5 GeV/ c . We have also measured for the first time, the spin-spin correlation parameter C LL ( t ) in pp elastic scattering at 6 GeV/ c . We observe evidence for an exchange with A 1 -like quantum-numbers.
THE NEW DATA ON THE LONGITUDINAL CROSS SECTION DIFFERENCE, SIG(NAME=CLL) AT 3 AND 6 GEV ARE INCLUDED IN THE RECORD OF I. P. AUER ET AL., PL 67B, 113 (1977).
NOTE: HIGHER -T DATA ARE BEING ANALYSED. PUBLISHED GRAPH HAS LARGER ERRORS.
THESE NUMBERS APPEAR TO UPDATE THOSE REPORTED IN I. P. AUER ET AL., PRL 37, 1727 (76). NOTE: DATA MAY HAVE SMALLER ERROR BARS IN THE FINAL ANALYSIS.
An analysis of a data sample of 1296 events of the reaction p p → K + K − π + π − at 2.32 GeV/ c is presented. The reaction cross section is 300 ± 20 μb . A number of tests of C conservation were made with careful attention to possible systematic errors, yielding no clear evidence of C violation. Various quasi two-body and quasi three-body final states contributing to this reaction were studied. The final state φπ + π − appears to be produced via a Zweig's rule violating mechanism. An analysis of the quasi three-body final state, K ∗0 K − π + (with K ∗0 → K + π − ) plus charge conjugate, whose cross section is 84 ± 12 μ b, is given. The properties of this final state are compared with expectations based on a simple baryon exchange model, and poor agreement is found. A quark model allows a successful qualitative interpretation of the properties of this three-body final state.

Measurements of the target asymmetry T = ( σ ↑ − σ ↓)/( σ ↑ + σ ↓) for the reactions γ p → π + n and γ n → π − p at a fixed photon energy of 850 MeV and pion c.m. angles between 70° and 150° are reported. The data are compared to the previously measured angular distribution at 700 MeV.

Results are presented concerning K − d and K − n elastic scattering at an incident momentum of 4.5 GeV/ c . The high-energy Glauber formalism has been used in analyzing the data in which the nucleon scattering amplitudes are parameterized and employing the spherical and quadrupole deuteron form factors. An impulse approximation analysis of the K − n differential scattering cross section fitted to a single exponential of the form d σ /d t ) 0 e Bt , leads to the result (d σ /d t ) 0 = 21.3 + mn ; 5.5 mb/(GeV/ c ) 2 and B = 6.9 + mn ; 0.5 (GeV/ c ) −2 . A global fit has been made to existing K + mn; N two-body scattering data at this energy in order to determine the scattering amplitudes. It was found that the K − n and K − p elastic amplitudes are dominantly imaginary with a relatively small contribution from spin-flip amplitudes. The slopes of the differential elastic cross sections for K − n and K − p are nearly equal, as are those for K + n and K + p. However, the value of the slope for K + is smaller than that for K − at this energy.
