Elastic cross-section measurements are presented for π ± −p at 20 GeV/ c and π − −p at 30 GeV/ c incident momenta in the large angle region (50° to 90° in the c.m. system). The data are compared with published lower energy elastic cross sections. A test is made of the dimensional counting rules for π ± −p elastic scattering and some indication of a deviation from this rule is observed in the π − −p case. A comparison is also made with the predictions of the constituent interchange model. Although the broad features of the predictions are confirmed, there are some important discrepancies. Finally, the predictions of the model due to Preparata and Soffer are also compared with the new data.

InclusiveKs0, Λ and\(\bar \Lambda\)-production has been investigated in\(\bar p\)p-interactions at 22.4 GeV/c. Total and topological cross sections and multiplicity characteristics of neutral strange particles have been determined. DifferentialKs0 and Λ-cross sections and also characteristics of annihilation processes with neutral kaon production have been studied. It is shown that the difference of the shapes of the invariantx-distributions forK-mesons in the fragmentation region for annihilation and non-annihilation processes can be described in the framework of the “dual” valon model, but not by considering the current (undressed) quark recombination mechanisms only. The polarization of Λ and\(\bar \Lambda\)-hyperons has been measured.

The inclusive production of γ's and πp0's inK−p-interactions at 32 GeV/c is studied. About 30.000 γ's coming from a Mirabelle bubble chamber experiment with a sensitivity of 6.5 ev/μb have been used for the analysis. Inclusive and topological cross sections of γ's are measured. The γ invariant differential distributions and their scaling properties are investigated. The inclusive cross section of πp0-production is determined and the πp0 invariant differential distributions are evaluated and compared to those of πp±.

We report measurements of the invariant cross section in the forward hemisphere for inclusive photoproduction of π±, K±, p, and p¯ from hydrogen and deuterium with an incident photon energy of 18 GeV. A small amount of data was also taken at incident energies of 9 and 13 GeV. The measurements were made using the SLAC 20-GeV/c spectrometer, and a bremsstrahlung-subtraction technique was used to obtain the cross sections at the specified incident energy. The data are compared with those from lower-energy experiments and interpreted within the context of the Mueller-Regge model and the constituent-interchange model.
