High statistics data of the ηππ system in π − p → ηπ + π − n were obtained. A partial wave analysis was performed in the mass region between 1.37 and 1.85 GeV. Resonant structures were observed in the IJ PC = 11 −− wave around 1.6 GeV and in 13 −− around 1.7 GeV. The structure in 11 −− was fitted with a single Breit-Wigner and also fitted with two Breit-Wigner's. The result suggests the possible existence of two vector resonances around 1.6 GeV. The structure in 13 −− is considered to be the π 3 (1690).

Polarization parameters for the π − p → π 0 n charge exchange scattering have been measured at eight beam momenta between 1965 and 4220 MeV/ c using two different experimental set-ups. The angular range covered is −0.90 < cos θ π ∗ < 0.95 at the five momenta of 1965, 2168, 2360, 2566 and 2960 MeV/ c , where θ π ∗ is the emission angle of the π 0 meson in the c.m.s.. For three momenta of 2770, 3490 and 4220 MeV/ c , the measurements cover the forward angles of 0.1 < cos θ π ∗ < 1.0 . The results are compared with the predictions of π N partial wave analyses.

The first data on the production of D ∗ (2010) are presented as observed in π − -proton interactions at √ s = 27 GeV . It is found that D ∗ (2010) dominates the total charm D-meson production, without a significant non-central component.

A study of the properties of charm particles produced in 360 GeV/c π-p interactions is reported. The experiment was performed using the high resolution hydrogen bubble chamber LEBC in association with the European Hybrid Spectrometer at the CERN SPS. Details of the exposure and operation of the spectrometer are given and the methods used to extract the charm data are presented. The essential physics results on the decay properties (lifetime, branching ratios) as well as on the hadroproduction properties (cross sections forD,\(\bar D\),F, Λc,D, correlations between charm particles) are given.
