In an experiment on K--proton interactions in a hydrogen bubble chamber, the cross sections and angular distributions have been studied for elastic and charge-exchange scattering, and charged sigma hyperon production in the momentum range 90-300 MeV/c. Good agreement is found with previous cross sections except for the charge-exchange channel where the new values are 60% larger. The production distributions of the charged sigma hyperons and the polarisation of the Sigma + hyperon clearly indicate that P waves are present down to about 150 MeV/c, much lower than previously reported.

DIFFERENTIAL CROSS-SECTIONS FOR K+ p ELASTIC SCATTERING FROM 0.865-GeV/c TO 2.125-GeV/c: DATA LISTING

Phys.Rev.D 11 (1975) 1719-1732, 1975.
Inspire Record 81409 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.4763

We report on an experiment to obtain differential cross sections for K+p elastic scattering in the vicinity of the possible exotic baryon, the Z1*(1900). The differential cross sections are based on typically 70 000 selected events in the angular region −0.9≤cosθc.m.≤0.9 at each of 22 momenta from 0.865 to 2.125 GeV/c. The data are intended for use in partial-wave analysis to search for the Z1*.

Precision Measurement of Electroweak Effects in $e^+ e^- \to \mu^+ \mu^-$ at $\sqrt{s}=29$-{GeV}

Phys.Rev.Lett. 55 (1985) 1831, 1985.
Inspire Record 216031 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3246

A high-statistics measurement has been made of the process e+e−→μ+μ− at s=29 GeV with the MAC detector at the SLAC storage ring PEP. The electroweak forward-backward charge asymmetry for a sample of approximately 16 000 events was measured to be Aμμ=−0.063±0.008±0.002. The ratio of the cross section to the lowest-order QED cross section was measured to be Rμμ=1.01±0.01±0.03. From these results the weak neutral axial-vector and vector couplings are determined to be gAegAμ=0.25±0.03±0.01 and gVegVμ=−0.02±0.03±0.09.

Data are fully corrected, including radiative effects.

Asymmetry determined from a two parameter fit to the angular distribution proportional to R*(1 + cos(theta)**2 + (8/3)*A*cos(theta)). R is then the total ratio relative to the lowest order QED cross section and A is the forward-backward asymmetry.

LIMITS ON CHARM PRODUCTION IN HADRONIC INTERACTIONS NEAR THRESHOLD

Phys.Rev.Lett. 55 (1985) 154, 1985.
Inspire Record 16192 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3274

We present the results of an experiment to search for associated charm production near threshold in 13-GeV/c π−p interactions. A large aperture PWC spectrometer was sensitive to the decay fragments of the forward-produced D*−’s expected from the two-body reactions π−+p→D*−+Λc+,Σc +,. . . . The missing baryon mass was determined from the vector momenta of the incident pion and the candidate D*−. No evidence for these reactions was found, which resulted in a 7-nb upper limit (95% confidence level) for each of the cross sections σ(π−p→D*−Λc+) and σ(π−p→D*−Σc+).

A high-statistics measurement is presented of the cross section for the process e+e−→τ+τ− at s=29 GeV from the MAC detector at PEP. A fit to the angular distribution of our sample of 10 153 events with |cosθ|<0.9 gives an asymmetry Aττ=−0.055±0.012±0.005 from which we find the product of electron and tau axial-vector weak neutral couplings gAegAτ=0.22±0.05.

New experimental limits for the electron stability

Phys.Lett.B 353 (1995) 168-172, 1995.

A set of two natural abundance Ge detectors of 1.1 kg each, located in the Homestake mine, and one small, 0.253 kg, Ge detector operating in the Canfranc railway tunnel in Spain, have been used to obtain bounds on the stability of the electron against the decay modes e − → γν e and e − → ν e ν e ν e . The bounds on the mean lifes are τ ( γν e ) > 3.7(2.1) × 10 25 yr , 68%(90%) CL and τ(ν e ν e ν e > 4.3(2.6) × 10 23 yr , 68%(90%) CL, which are at present the most stringent laboratory limits for these decays.
