We have found 431 events of the reaction K+d→K0pps at 3.8−GeVc K+ beam momentum in a 295 000-frame exposure of the Argonne National Laboratory 30-in. deuterium-filled bubble chamber. The event sample consists of one- and two-prong events with a visible K0 decaying to π+π− The total and differential cross sections are found after correction for unseen K0's and for efficiencies in the scanning-measuring-fitting chain. Comparisons of the data are made to an SU(3) sum rule, a Regge model, and data for K−p→K¯0n.

GLAUBER SCREENING AND PAULI EXCLUSION PRINCIPLE CORRECTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO YIELD THE K+ N CHARGE EXCHANGE CROSS SECTION. THE GLAUBER CORRECTION IMPLIES AN INCREASE IN THE CROSS SECTIONS BY THE FACTOR 1.016. THE PAULI CORRECTION IS SLIGHT EXCEPT AT LOW -T (<0.2 GEV**2) WHERE IT IS LARGE AND UNCERTAIN.

Coherent pi0 photoproduction on deuterium in the first resonance region

Von Holtey, G. ; Knop, G. ; Stein, H. ; et al.
Z.Phys. 259 (1973) 51-59, 1973.
Inspire Record 76582 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.16658

Differential cross sections for coherent π0-photoproduction from deuterium have been measured in the photon energy range from 240 to 400 MeV and for pion c.m. angles between 70 ° and 160 °. The recoil deuterons were analysed in angle and momentum by a magnetic spectrometer. The cross sections obtained were higher by a factor of about 2 compared with the results from Stanford [7], the only data available up to now in the first resonance region. Below the resonance the measured cross sections give a smooth extension to the low energy data from Glasgow [5] and Orsay [6].

Photoproduction of pi- mesons on deuteron monochromatic photons in the first resonance region

Boucrot, J. ; Blum, D. ; Grossetete, B. ; et al.
Nuovo Cim.A 18 (1973) 635-653, 1973.
Inspire Record 87162 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.37783

Photoproduction of π−-mesons on deuteron has been studied in the first resonance region with an annihilation photon beam with adjustable peak energy (from 250 MeV to 400 MeV). A coincidence detection of both outgoing π−-meson and forward proton has been performed with a set of 9 multiwire proportional chambers (1700 wires) inside the gap of a spectrometer. The momentum of the second proton is computed from three-body kinematics; their distribution is found in excellent agreement with the spectator model, even at the top of the resonance. The differential cross-sections of π− have been measured from 100° to 180° (center of mass); they are in reasonable agreement with conventional multipole calculations and do not indicate an appreciable isotensor term.

Target asymmetry for neutral pi meson photoproduction on polarized protons at 4 GeV in the forward direction

Bienlein, H. ; Braunschweig, W. ; Dinter, H. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 46 (1973) 131-134, 1973.
Inspire Record 84690 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28065

The asymmetry A = (σ + −σ − ) (σ + +σ − ) of the reaction γ p↑↓ → π 0 p was measured at the Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron DESY, Hamburg at a mean photon energy of 4.0 GeV in the four-momentum transfer range 0.2 (GeV/ c ) 2 ⩽ −t ⩽ 1.1 (GeV/ c ) 2 in steps of approximately 0.08 (GeV/ c ) 2 . The π 0 -meson and the proton were detected in coincidence. The asymmetry is compatible with zero in the t -range 0.2 (GeV/ c ) 2 ⩽ − t ⩽ 0.4 (GeV/ c ) 2 and negative in the t -range ⩾ 0.5 (GeV/ c ) 2 .

Measurement of the spin rotation parameter r in proton proton elastic scattering at 6 and 16 gev/c

Deregel, J. ; Bystricky, J. ; Cozzika, G. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 43 (1973) 338-340, 1973.
Inspire Record 84912 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28132

The spin rotation parameter R in elastic proton-proton scattering has been determined at incident momenta 6 and 16 GeV/ c in the interval from t = −0.18 (GeV/ c ) 2 to −0.54 (GeV/ c ) 2 . R pp at 16 GeV/ c is close to the val obtained for R in π − p elastic scattering at the same incident momentum. Equality of R pp ( s , t ) and R π p ( s , t ) is expected if Pomeron exchange dominates and if factorization holds. The t -dependence of R at 16 GeV/ c is consistent with weak helicity flip.

We have determined the pion charge exchange cross section on hydrogen for π ° mesons emitted at 180° by measuring neutron time-of-flight. Using known values of the p-wave phase shifts we have deduced the contribution of the s-wave. We obtain a value for the quantity a 1 − a 3 (in h = c = m =1 units where m is the pion mass) =0.270±0.014 in agreement within the errors with recent theoretical calculations. We also find a value of 114±55 μb / sr for the cross section in the center of mass system for radiative pion capture at 22.6 MeV (gamma ray emitted at 180°).

Carney, J.N. ; Colley, D.C. ; Jobes, M. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 42 (1972) 124-128, 1972.
Inspire Record 85042 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28222

Results are presented on an analysis of the reaction K + p → K ∗+ (890) p at 16 GeV/ c and compared with data at lower incident momenta and with corresponding results for the reaction K − p → K ∗− (890) p. It is found for both reactions that the energy dependence of the cross section exhibits a simple ( p − n lab behaviour.

Charged particle productions at 90 degrees in the center-of-mass in very high energy proton proton collisions

Banner, M. ; Hamel, J.L. ; Pansart, J.P. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 41 (1972) 547-551, 1972.
Inspire Record 85071 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28219

The transverse momentum distribution at 90° of pions, protons and antiprotons have been measured at the CERN intersecting storage rings for C.M. energies between 23.2 and 52.7 GeV. In this energy range, the pion and proton distributions are almost energy independent. The antiproton production rises by a factor of two between 23.2 and 52.7 GeV.
