The differential cross sections of the elastic p p reaction have been measured at 1.2, 1.4, 1.8 and 2.6 GeV/ c incident p momentum. The measurements have been performed at the CERN PS using a system of multiwire proportional chambers. The angular region covers scattering angles from 0 to ∼200 mrad. Interference effects between the Coulomb and the nuclear amplitudes are used to derive the ratio of the real to imaginary part of the forward nuclear amplitude. These ratios are compared with theoretical predictions.

Pi- p forward elastic scattering near 1 gev/c

Inspire Record 74955 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.8020

We have measured the differential cross section of the reaction π − p→ π − p in the range 0.92 ⩽ cos θ c.m. ⩽ 0.99 at 15 momenta between 0.875 and 1.580 GeV/ c . The results we report complete the available data; previous measurements of this reaction do not extend beyond cos θ c.m. =0.90. We compare our experimental results with dispersion relation predictions. A comparison of our results for B , the slope of the differential cross section, with earlier results shows many discrepancies.

Measurement of proton-proton elastic scattering and total cross-section at S**(1/2) = 7-TeV

The TOTEM collaboration Antchev, G. ; Aspell, P. ; Atanassov, I. ; et al.
EPL 101 (2013) 21002, 2013.
Inspire Record 1220862 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.66456

At the LHC energy of $\sqrt s = 7\,{\mathrm { TeV}}$ , under various beam and background conditions, luminosities, and Roman Pot positions, TOTEM has measured the differential cross-section for proton-proton elastic scattering as a function of the four-momentum transfer squared t. The results of the different analyses are in excellent agreement demonstrating no sizeable dependence on the beam conditions. Due to the very close approach of the Roman Pot detectors to the beam center (≈5σ(beam)) in a dedicated run with β* = 90 m, |t|-values down to 5·10(−)(3) GeV(2) were reached. The exponential slope of the differential elastic cross-section in this newly explored |t|-region remained unchanged and thus an exponential fit with only one constant B = (19.9 ± 0.3) GeV(−)(2) over the large |t|-range from 0.005 to 0.2 GeV(2) describes the differential distribution well. The high precision of the measurement and the large fit range lead to an error on the slope parameter B which is remarkably small compared to previous experiments. It allows a precise extrapolation over the non-visible cross-section (only 9%) to t = 0. With the luminosity from CMS, the elastic cross-section was determined to be (25.4 ± 1.1) mb, and using in addition the optical theorem, the total pp cross-section was derived to be (98.6 ± 2.2) mb. For model comparisons the t-distributions are tabulated including the large |t|-range of the previous measurement (TOTEM Collaboration (Antchev G. et al), EPL, 95 (2011) 41001).

We have measured the ratio of the real to the imaginary parts of the p¯p forward-scattering amplitude in the incident-momentum range 360 to 650 MeV/c. These results are in good agreement with predictions of the Paris nucleon-antinucleon potential model which include spin-flip effects.

Soft $\pi^- p$ and $p p$ Elastic Scattering in the Energy Range 30-{GeV} to 345-{GeV}

Nucl.Phys.B 217 (1983) 285-335, 1983.
Inspire Record 182455 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.7556

Differential cross sections for π − p and pp elastic scattering have been measured at incident momenta ranging from 30 to 345 GeV and in the t range 0.002 (GeV/ c ) 2 ⩽ | t | ⩽ 0.04 (GeV/ c ) 2 . From the analysis of the data, the ratio ϱ ( t = 0) of the real to the imaginary parts of the forward scattering amplitude was determined together with the logarithmic slope b of the diffraction cone.

A precise measurement of p̄p elastic scattering in the Coulomb-strong interaction interference region was performed at the CERN Sp̄pS Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of 541 GeV. The ratio of the real to the imaginary part of the forward elastic scattering amplitude was found to be ρ = 0.135 ± 0.015. The slope of the exponential fall off of the strong interaction part was also measured to be b = 15.5 ± 0.1 GeV −2 .

Proton - Anti-proton Elastic Scattering at Four Momentum Transfer Up to 0.5-{GeV}**2 at the {CERN} {SPS} Collider

Proton-antiproton elastic scattering was measured at a centre of mass energy s = 540 GeV . In the four-momentum transfer range 0.21 < − t < 0.50 GeV 2 the t -distribution of about 7000 events is well represented by the exponential shape exp ( bt ) with slope parameter b = 13.7 ± 0.3 GeV −2 . A new measurement of the slope for − t < 0.19 GeV 2 confirms our earlier result, giving evidence for a change of slope of about 4 GeV −2 around − l ̷ ≈ 0.15 GeV 2 .

Differential Cross-sections of Proton Compton Scattering at Photon Laboratory Energies Between 1.2-{GeV} and 1.7-{GeV}

Z.Phys.C 17 (1983) 319, 1983.
Inspire Record 182590 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.50210

Differential cross sections of proton Compton scattering have been measured at the Bonn 2.5 GeV synchrotron. The experiment covers photon laboratory energies between 1.2 GeV and 1.7 GeV and the square of the four-momentum transfer ranges fromt=−0.17 GeV2 to −0.98GeV2 corresponding to c.m. scattering angles between 35° and 80°. The cross sections exhibit a forward peak followed by a monotone fall-off up to the largest measured |t|-values. Fits of the formdσ/dt=A·exp(Bt) to the data points with |t|≦0.5 GeV2 yield forward cross sectionsA, which are consistent with the 0° cross sections calculated from the measured total photon-proton cross section. The average slope isB=5.6±0.14 GeV2.

Topological, Total and Elastic Cross-sections for $K^+ p$, $\pi^+ p$ and $p p$ Interactions at 147-{GeV}/$c$

Phys.Rev.D 25 (1982) 2794, 1982.
Inspire Record 11840 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.4111

The Fermilab hybrid 30-in. bubble-chamber spectrometer was exposed to a tagged 147-GeV/c positive beam containing π+, K+, and p. A sample of 3003 K+p, 19410 pp, and 20745 π+p interactions is used to derive σn, 〈n〉, f2cc, and 〈nc〉D for each beam particle. These values are compared to values obtained at other, mostly lower, beam momenta. The overall dependence of 〈n〉 on Ea, the available center-of-mass energy, for these three reactions as well as π−p and pp interactions has been determined.

We have measured the p p differential elastic cross section at 8 momenta from 353 to 578 MeV/ c , determining, for each momentum, the ratio ρ of the real to imaginary parts of the elastic forward amplitude, the slope b of the elastic cross section and the total p p cross section σ.
