A search is presented for heavy bosons decaying to Z($\nu\bar{\nu}$)V(qq'), where V can be a W or a Z boson. A sample of proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt{s} =$ 13 TeV was collected by the CMS experiment during 2016-2018. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 137 fb$^{-1}$. The event categorization is based on the presence of high-momentum jets in the forward region to identify production through weak vector boson fusion. Additional categorization uses jet substructure techniques and the presence of large missing transverse momentum to identify W and Z bosons decaying to quarks and neutrinos, respectively. The dominant standard model backgrounds are estimated using data taken from control regions. The results are interpreted in terms of radion, W' boson, and graviton models, under the assumption that these bosons are produced via gluon-gluon fusion, Drell-Yan, or weak vector boson fusion processes. No evidence is found for physics beyond the standard model. Upper limits are set at 95% confidence level on various types of hypothetical new bosons. Observed (expected) exclusion limits on the masses of these bosons range from 1.2 to 4.0 (1.1 to 3.7) TeV.

Measurement of the anti-p p ---> anti-lambda Lambda and anti-p p ---> Antisigma0 Lambda + c.c. reactions at 1.726-GeV/c and 1.771-GeV/c

Interest in the production of hyperon-antihyperon pairs following antiproton-proton annihilation stems largely from attempts to understand the nature of flavor production. To date the major focus of both the experimental and the theoretical effort has been on the p¯p→Λ¯Λ reaction. In this paper, we present data on the complementary channels p¯p→Σ¯0Λ and p¯p→Λ¯Σ0. Events from the kinematically similar p¯p→Λ¯Λ reaction were obtained in parallel. The procedure to distinguish these three separate reactions is described and results for all channels are presented. These include the total and differential cross sections, hyperon polarizations, and spin correlation coefficients. Data were obtained at incident antiproton lab momenta of 1.726 and 1.771 GeV/c which correspond to excess kinetic energies in the p¯p→Λ¯Σ0+c.c. reaction of 26 and 40 MeV, respectively, above threshold. Comparisons are made to earlier work at similar excess energies in the p¯p→Λ¯Λ channel. The low-energy regime has been highlighted in this experiment to reduce the complexity in the theoretical analysis. © 1996 The American Physical Society.

Measurement of the Helicity Asymmetry $E$ for the reaction $ \gamma p\to \pi^0 p$

Eur.Phys.J.A 57 (2021) 40, 2021.
Inspire Record 1731795 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.100433

A measurement of the double-polarization observable $E$ for the reaction $\gamma p\to \pi^0 p$ is reported. The data were taken with the CBELSA/TAPS experiment at the ELSA facility in Bonn using the Bonn frozen-spin butanol (C$_4$H$_9$OH) target, which provided longitudinally-polarized protons. Circularly-polarized photons were produced via bremsstrahlung of longitudinally-polarized electrons. The data cover the photon energy range from $E_\gamma =600$~MeV to $E_\gamma =2310$~MeV and nearly the complete angular range. The results are compared to and have been included in recent partial wave analyses.

The γp→π0p reaction was studied at laboratory photon energies from 425 to 1445 MeV with a transversely polarized target and a longitudinally polarized beam. The beam-target asymmetry F was measured for the first time and new high precision data for the target asymmetry T were obtained. The experiment was performed at the photon tagging facility of the Mainz Microtron (MAMI) using the Crystal Ball and TAPS photon spectrometers. The polarized cross sections were expanded in terms of associated Legendre functions and compared to recent predictions from several partial-wave analyses. The impact of the new data on our understanding of the underlying partial-wave amplitudes and baryon resonance contributions is discussed.

Helicity-dependent cross sections and double-polarization observable E in eta photoproduction from quasi-free protons and neutrons

Precise helicity-dependent cross sections and the double-polarization observable $E$ were measured for $\eta$ photoproduction from quasi-free protons and neutrons bound in the deuteron. The $\eta\rightarrow 2\gamma$ and $\eta\rightarrow 3\pi^0\rightarrow 6\gamma$ decay modes were used to optimize the statistical quality of the data and to estimate systematic uncertainties. The measurement used the A2 detector setup at the tagged photon beam of the electron accelerator MAMI in Mainz. A longitudinally polarized deuterated butanol target was used in combination with a circularly polarized photon beam from bremsstrahlung of a longitudinally polarized electron beam. The reaction products were detected with the electromagnetic calorimeters Crystal Ball and TAPS, which covered 98\% of the full solid angle. The results show that the narrow structure observed earlier in the unpolarized excitation function of $\eta$ photoproduction off the neutron appears only in reactions with antiparallel photon and nucleon spin ($\sigma_{1/2}$). It is absent for reactions with parallel spin orientation ($\sigma_{3/2}$) and thus very probably related to partial waves with total spin 1/2. The behavior of the angular distributions of the helicity-dependent cross sections was analyzed by fitting them with Legendre polynomials. The results are in good agreement with a model from the Bonn-Gatchina group, which uses an interference of $P_{11}$ and $S_{11}$ partial waves to explain the narrow structure.

Measurement of the transverse target and beam-target asymmetries in $\eta$ meson photoproduction at MAMI

Phys.Rev.Lett. 113 (2014) 102001, 2014.
Inspire Record 1310837 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.116552

We present new data for the transverse target asymmetry T and the very first data for the beam-target asymmetry F in the $\vec \gamma \vec p\to\eta p$ reaction up to a center-of-mass energy of W=1.9 GeV. The data were obtained with the Crystal-Ball/TAPS detector setup at the Glasgow tagged photon facility of the Mainz Microtron MAMI. All existing model predictions fail to reproduce the new data indicating a significant impact on our understanding of the underlying dynamics of $\eta$ meson photoproduction. The peculiar nodal structure observed in existing T data close to threshold is not confirmed.

The spin-transfer parameter K n 00 n of the p p↑ → n ↑n charge exchange reaction has been measured for the first time at the CERN Low Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR), at 875 MeV/ c p momentum, in the centre-of-mass scattering-angle range from 45° to 78°. To measure the transverse polarisation of the n 's, a thick scintillator counter hodoscope was used as live target, and the elastic n p scattering on the hydrogen of the scintillator was used as analysing reaction of the n transverse polarisation. Its so far unmeasured analysing power is taken as linear in momentum transfer, A n p = α·q , and results are given for α · K n 00 n . The values one obtains for K n 00 n , estimating α from N N potential models, are less than 0.25, in agreement with the predictions.
