We report a measurement of the negative pion electromagnetic form factor in the range of space-like four-momentum transfer 0.014 < q 2 < 0.122 (GeV/ c ) 2 . The measurement was made by the NA7 collaboration at the CERN SPS, by observing the interaction of 300 GeV pions with the electrons of a liquid hydrogen target. The form factor is fitted by a pole form with a pion radius of 〈r 2 〈 1 2 = 0.657 ± 0.012 fm.

Search for a Threshold Enhancement in the $\gamma (p) \to$ Charmed Baryon + Charmed Meson Cross-section

The SLAC Hybrid Facility Photon collaboration Abe, K. ; Bacon, T.C. ; Bingham, H.H. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 30 (1984) 694, 1984.
Inspire Record 200010 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23592

Results of a search for a predicted enhancement of several microbarns in the charm-photoproduction cross section just above threshold are reported. No charm decays were detected, from which an upper limit to the charm cross section of 94 nb (90% C.L.) at Eγ≃10 GeV was obtained. Upper limits in the range 270 to 450 nb were also obtained for the peak cross sections for threshold enhancements in γp→D−Σc++ and similar channels.

Measurement of the Pion Form-factor in the Timelike Region for $q^2$ Values Between .1-{GeV}/$c^2$ and .18-{GeV}/$c^2$

Phys.Lett.B 138 (1984) 454-458, 1984.
Inspire Record 195944 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30572

The EM form factor of the pion has been studied in the time-like region by measuring σ (e + e − → π + π − ) normalized to σ (e + e − → μ + μ − ). Results have been obtained for q 2 down to the physical threshold.

CHARM PHOTOPRODUCTION AT 20-GeV

The SLAC Hybrid Facility Photon collaboration Abe, K. ; Bacon, T.C. ; Ballam, Joseph ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 30 (1984) 1, 1984.
Inspire Record 194546 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23639

Sixty-two charm events have been observed in an exposure of the SLAC Hybrid Facility toa backward sacttered laser beam. Based on 22 neutral and 21 charged decays we have measured the charmed-meson lifetimes to be τD0=(6.8−1.8+2.3)×10−13 sec, τD±=(7.4−2.0+2.3)×10−13 sec and their ratio τD±τD0=1.1−0.3+0.6. The inclusive charm cross section at a photon energy of 20 GeV has been measured to be 56−23+24 nb. Evidence is presented for a non-DD¯ component to charm production, consistent with (35±20)% Λc+ production and some D*± production. We have found no unambiguous F decays.

Search for Singly Produced Supersymmetric Electrons in $e^+ e^-$ Interactions

Phys.Rev.Lett. 52 (1984) 22, 1984.
Inspire Record 192872 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20447

A search for supersymmetric electron production via the reaction e+e−→e±γ̃ẽ∓ followed by the decay ẽ∓→e∓γ̃ has been performed with the MAC detector at the electron-positron storage ring PEP. No candidates were found in a sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.4 pb−1. For a massless γ̃ this corresponds to a lower limit on the ẽ mass of 22.4 GeV/c2 at the 95% confidence level.

Inclusive Photoproduction of Neutral Strange Particles at 20-{GeV}

The SLAC Hybrid Facility Photon collaboration Abe, K. ; Bacon, T.C. ; Ballam, Joseph ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 29 (1984) 1877, 1984.
Inspire Record 190724 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23774

We have studied inclusive production of KS0, Λ, and Λ¯ particles in 20-GeV γp interactions and have found features similar to those observed in both hadronic and leptonic interactions. The production cross sections, charged-particle multiplicities, and average Λ polarization are reported. Inclusive distributions of x and pT are shown and discussed in terms of quark fragmentation models. Production cross sections for K*(890) and Σ*(1385) are also reported.

CHARM PHOTOPRODUCTION CROSS-SECTION AT 20-GeV

Phys.Rev.Lett. 51 (1983) 156, 1983.
Inspire Record 189662 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20508

Forty-seven charm events have been observed in an exposure of the SLAC Hybrid Facility bubble chamber to a 20-GeV backward-scattered laser beam. Thirty-seven events survive all the necessary cuts imposed. Based on this number the total charm cross section is calculated to be 63−28+33 nb.

Fragmentation of Heavy Quarks Produced in $e^+ e^-$ Annihilation

Fernandez, E. ; Ford, William T. ; Read, Alexander L. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 50 (1983) 2054, 1983.
Inspire Record 189417 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20548

Identification of muons in hadronic events from e+e− annihilation observed in the MAC detector at the storage ring PEP provides flavor tagging of heavy primary quarks. A sample enriched in events from bb¯ production is obtained and the b-quark fragmentation function is inferred from the momentum spectrum of the muons. The b quark is found to fragment predominantly with high values of z, with 〈zb〉=0.8±0.1, and to have an over-all semimuonic branching fraction of (15.5−2.9+5.4)%.
