We have measured the inclusive production of γ, π0 and η ine+e− annihilation at the center of mass energy of 35 GeV. The differential cross sections, extended to the kinematical limit and measured with high accuracy, are found to be in good agreement with previously reported results. Using the measured spectra we determine the average multiplicity for each of these particle species.

A Study of $K^0_S$, $\Lambda$ and $\bar{\Lambda}$ Production in 60-{GeV} and 200-{GeV} Per Nucleon O Au and $p$ Au Collisions With a Streamer Chamber Detector at the {CERN} {SPS}

The NA35 collaboration Bamberger, A. ; Bartke, J. ; Bialkowska, H. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 43 (1989) 25, 1989.
Inspire Record 276686 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.15456

The production of neutral strange particlesKso, Λ and\(\bar \Lambda \) has been studied in 60 and 200 GeV per nucleon OAu and pAu collisions with the streamer chamber vertex spectrometer of the NA35 experiment at the CERN-SPS accelerator. Ratios of neutral strange particle production to negatively charged particle production in selected regions of phase space were measured to be the same in OAu and pAu reactions. The rates of strange particle production in central OAu collisions are about a factor of 16 higher than in pAu collisions when compared in the same regions of phase space. If an enhancement of strange particle production in OAu collisions relative to pAu collisions is considered to be a signature for quark-gluon plasma formation, no evidence supporting it is observed. The experimental results are compared to the Lund FRITIOF model.

Anti-proton - Helium Annihilation Around 44-{MeV}/$c$

Balestra, F. ; Bossolasco, S. ; Bussa, M.P. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 230 (1989) 36-40, 1989.
Inspire Record 276657 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.49625

The p¯4He annihilation cross section averaged over the interval 40–50 MeV/ c has been measured using a streamer chamber in a magnetic field. The measured value is 1342±250 mb. It agrees with a behaviour like 1/ p of the annihilation cross section. Our result has been obtained at the lowest momentum achieved till now in measurements of antiproton annihilation in flight.

Experimental Study of Muon Pairs Produced by 252-GeV Pions on Tungsten

The E615 collaboration Conway, J.S. ; Adolphsen, C.E. ; Alexander, J.P. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 39 (1989) 92-122, 1989.
Inspire Record 280845 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23151

We present the results of a study of muon pairs with invariant masses greater than 4.05 GeV/c2 produced in high-energy pion-nucleon interactions. The production cross section together with the inferred pion and nucleon structure functions are reported and compared with other experiments and with QCD predictions. The transverse-momentum distributions are also presented. Finally, the full angular distribution in cosθ and φ is given as a function of mass, Feynman x, and transverse momentum. Longitudinal photon polarization is seen in the lower portion of the mass range at high xπ. This result is compared with a higher-twist model.

Lambda0 and anti-Lambda0 Production from Proton - anti-Proton Collisions at s**(1/2) = 1.8-TeV

Phys.Rev.Lett. 62 (1989) 12, 1989.

The transverse-momentum spectra of lambdas (Λ0, Λ¯0) produced in the central region has been measured in p¯p collisions at s=1.8 TeV at the Fermilab Collider. We find that the average transverse momentum of the lambdas increases more rapidly with center-of-mass energy than that of charged particles, and the ratio of lambdas to charged particles increases as a function of center-of-mass energy.

Production Cross-section and Topological Decay Branching Fractions of the $\tau$ Lepton

The HRS collaboration Abachi, S. ; Derrick, M. ; Kooijman, P. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 40 (1989) 902, 1989.
Inspire Record 267739 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.23018

We report new measurements of the production cross section for the reaction e+e−→τ+τ− at s=29 GeV, as well as the topological decay branching fractions of the τ lepton. The data were taken with the High Resolution Spectrometer at the SLAC e+e− colliding-beam facility PEP. The measured cross section yields Rττ=1.044±0.014±0.030 [where the first (second) error is statistical (systematic)], consistent with QED and corresponding to QED cutoff parameters of Λ+>129 GeV and Λ−>284 GeV at the 95% C.L. The fractions of τ decays into one and three charged particles are B1=0.864±0.003±0.003 and B3=0.135±0.003±0.003.

Charged Particle Multiplicity Distributions at 200-GeV and 900-GeV Center-Of-Mass Energy

The UA5 collaboration Ansorge, R.E. ; Åsman, B. ; Burow, L. ; et al.
Z.Phys.C 43 (1989) 357, 1989.
Inspire Record 267179 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.15457

Multiplicity distributions of charged particles produced in non single-diffractive collisions between protons and antiprotons at centre of mass energies of 200 and 900 GeV are presented. The data were recorded in the UA5 streamer chambers at the CERN Collider, which was operated in a pulsed mode between the two energies. A new method to correct for acceptance limitations and inefficiencies based on the principle of maximum entropy has been used. Multiplicity distributions in full phase space and in intervals of pseudorapidity are presented in tabular form. The violation of KNO scaling in full phase space found by the UA5 group at an energy of 546 GeV is confirmed also at 200 and 900 GeV. The shape of the 900 GeV distribution in full phase space is narrower in the peak region than at 200 GeV but exhibits a pronounced high multiplicity tail. The negative binomial distribution fits data at 200 GeV in all pseudorapidity intervals and in small intervals at 900 GeV. In large intervals at 900 GeV, however, the negative binomial distribution. Fits to the partially coherent laser distribution are also presented as well as comparisons with predictions of the Dual Parton, the Fritiof and the Pythia models.

Measurement of the Inclusive Jet Cross-Section in anti-p p Collisions at s**(1/2) = 1.8-TeV

The CDF collaboration Abe, F. ; Amidei, D. ; Apollinari, G. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 62 (1989) 613, 1989.
Inspire Record 267999 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20032

Inclusive jet production at s=1.8 TeV has been measured in the CDF detector at the Fermilab Tevatron p¯p Collider. Jets with transverse energies (Et) up to 250 GeV have been observed. The Et dependence of the inclusive jet cross section is consistent with leading-order quantum-chromodynamic calculations, and comparison with lower-energy data shows deviations from scaling consistent with QCD. A lower limit of 700 GeV (95% confidence level) is placed on the quark compositeness scale parameter Λc associated with an effective contact interaction.

Limiting Fragmentation in Oxygen Induced Emulsion Interactions at 14.6-a/{GeV}, 60-a/{GeV} and 200-a/{GeV}

The EMU01 collaboration Adamovich, M.I. ; Aggarwal, M.M. ; Arora, R. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 62 (1989) 2801, 1989.
Inspire Record 268021 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20041

Pseudorapidity distributions of relativistic singly charged particles in oxygen-induced emulsion interactions at 14.6, 60, and 200 GeV/nucleon are studied. Limiting fragmentation behavior is observed in both the target and projectile fragmentation regions for a central as well as for a minimum-bias sample. Comparisons with the fritiof model reveal that the picture of fragmenting strings successfully describes the observed data.
