Inspire Record 74041 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.3606

The reaction γ+p→π++n has been measured for incident γ-ray energies from 0.7 to 8 GeV and recoil lab angles from 170° to 180° using the Cornell 10-GeV synchrotron. The data presented here cover the transition region between the resonance region and the high-energy region studied at SLAC. The results are compared with various phenomenological Regge-pole analyses and with similar data on π0 photoproduction taken at DESY.

Phys.Rev.Lett. 19 (1967) 1206-1209, 1967.
Inspire Record 52485 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.21755

We report measurements of the photoproduction from hydrogen of single π+ mesons at gamma-ray energies of 3.4 and 5.0 BeV and at laboratory angles of 5.1°, 7.1°, 9.9°, and 15.1°. The s dependence at fixed t is derived for momentum transfers of -0.20, -0.37, and -0.70 BeV2. The pion data are compared with a Reggeized one-pion-exchange model.

Differential cross-sections for photoproduction of positive pions in hydrogen I. — low energies

Nuovo Cim. 4 (1956) 323-356, 1956.
Inspire Record 1185320 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.37599

The cross-sections σ(Eγ,ϑ ) for the reaction pγ→ n+ have been measured near threshold as a function of photon energy and at four angles. See Table I. These results combined with previously known data, have given a fairly complete and accurate description of σ(Eγ,θ) between the limits 30°≤θ≤180° and 170≤ Eγ 270 MeV. See Table II and Pig. 2. Writing σ(Eγ,θ) = W·a0 + a1 cos θ + a2 cos2 θ× withW= ηωl +(μ/Ei)ξ −1·l + (μ/E f )ω×−1 (see formula (5)) the experimental data indicate that (Table III) a0 is constant up to about Eγ ≃ 260 MeV; and that (Table V) the three ai coefficients analyzed in terms ofS andP waves give a very small spin flippingP-amplitudeK. The presumption that theS amplitudeE 1 ismainly due to the gauge invariance requirement is definitely not consistent with the data (see Table IV). A discussion based on the Kroll and Rudermann theorem leads to the conclusion that this inconsistency may be eliminated if allowance is made for the contribution of fairly large nucleon recoils. However, it turns out that only the changing sign part of these recoils is really large and apparently so up to terms of order higher than μM. The amount of the recoil at threshold is estimated and consequently a value for the pspv interaction constant is derived.

Single-positive-pion photoproduction on hydrogen in the energy range (500÷800) MeV

Beneventano, M. ; Paoluzi, L. ; Sebastiani, F. ; et al.
Nuovo Cim. 54 (1968) 468-474, 1968.
Inspire Record 1185328 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.37565

Cross-sections for the photoproduction of positive pions in hydrogen have been measured at the 1.1 GeV Frascati electron synchrotron for photon energiesE γ between 500 and 800 MeV and for π+ c.m. angles of θ=30o, 90o. The cross-sections exhibit a smooth behavior as a function of energy forE γ=(500÷600) MeV. No immediate evidence is found of a contribution of theP 11 resonance.

Photoproduction of charged pions in deuterium

Inspire Record 1184858 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.37846

perimental analysis of the process is presented. Theσ(−)/σ(+) ratio has been measured in the photon energy interval (170÷230) MeV and Lab. angles 45°, 75°, 105°, 150°. The results are interpreted on the base of the impulse approximation with the aim of getting information on the processhv+n →π −+p.

Small-angle photoproduction of single positive pions on hydrogen at energies around the « second resonance »

Beneventano, M. ; Finzi, R. ; Mezzetti, L. ; et al.
Nuovo Cim. 28 (1963) 1464-1483, 1963.
Inspire Record 1185011 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.37694

Cross-sections of single positive pions produced in hydrogen by photons of laboratory energies between 550 and 900 MeV at centre of-mass angle between 0° and 10° have been measured, using a magnetic spectrometer and an appropriate counter arrangement. The experiment is described in detail. Angular distributions at constant y-ray energy and the dependence of the differential cross-section on energy at variousconstant centre-of-mass angles are given and their significance discussed.

Measurements of Exclusive Photoproduction Processes at Large Values of t and u from 4-GeV to 7.5-GeV

Anderson, Robert L. ; Gustavson, D. ; Ritson, D. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 14 (1976) 679, 1976.
Inspire Record 108061 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.4592

Exclusive photoproduction cross sections have been measured for the processes γp→π+n, γp→π0p, γp→π−Δ++, γp→ρ0p, γp→K+Λ, and γp→K+Σ0 at large t and u values at several energies for each process between 4 and 7.5 GeV. These measurements taken together with past data taken at small values of t and u provide complete angular distributions. The data show the usual small t and u peaks and a central region in which the cross section decreases approximately as s−7. The results are discussed within the context of parton or constituent models.

HIGH-ENERGY PHOTOMESON PRODUCTION FROM HYDROGEN VIA THE 'u CHANNEL'

We have investigated the photoproduction process γ+p→π++n over a wide range of energies and u values at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC) accelerator. We also have investigated γ+p→π−+N*++ at one value of u and γ+p→K++Λ0, Σ0 at one u value and three energies. Our results for dσdu for the photoproduction of π+ mesons from hydrogen are roughly α2π of the corresponding cross sections for the elastic scattering of π− mesons from hydrogen. The u dependence of our cross sections is not dominated by nucleon exchange as it is in the case of π+p elastic scattering.
