The polarization parameter has been measured for K − p elastic scattering at nine incident beam momenta between 0.955 and 1.272 GeV/ c covering the c.m. angular range −0.9 < cos θ ∗ < + 0.9 . Experimental results and coefficients of Legendre polynomial fits to the data are presented and compared with other measurements and a partial-wave analysis.

LEGENDRE POLYNOMIAL COEFFICIENTS FOR POLARIZATION DERIVED USING INTERPOLATED DIFFERENTIAL CROSS SECTION DATA OF B. CONFORTO ET AL., NP B105, 189 (1976).
In order to determine the ηNN coupling constant we have measured the two reactions K − p→ Λη and K − p→ Λπ 0 with a magnetic wire chamber spectrometer which contained a gamma counter for the γγ decays of π 0 and η. The Λ polarization and the differential cross sections are given. The latter have quite different u dependences. Their ratio is interpreted, in terms of a nucleon-Regge exchange model, as the effect of a small ηNN coupling constant for which we obtain G η NN 2 = G π NN 2 · (0.26 ± 0.10) as allowed by SU(3). The large value given by Heisenberg's non-linear field theory, G η NN 2 = G π NN 2 · 0.9, is excluded by this measurement if the characteristic u dependence of the Λπ 0 channel is attributed to N α Regge exchange.

The asymmetries in forward π−N, π−Δ, and K+−(Λ+Σ) photoproduction have been measured with a 16-GeV linearly polarized beam. The experimental method and the procedures for extracting cross sections and asymmetries from the data are discussed in detail. Information on the energy and momentum-transfer dependence of cross sections for natural- and unnatural-parity exchange, interference between exchanges of opposite G parity, and vector-meson dominance is obtained and discussed.
ASYMMETRIES AND DIFFERENTIAL CROSS SECTIONS FOR PION-NUCLEON PHOTOPRODUCTION WERE FIRST PUBLISHED IN D. J. SHERDEN ET AL., PRL 30, 1230 (1973) AND PRL 31, 667 (1973) (ERRATUM). THESE SLIGHTLY REVISED NUMBERS ARE INCLUDED IN THE RECORD OF THE 1973 PAPER.

Toward the goal of experimentally determining pp elastic scattering amplitudes at 6 GeV/c, we have measured a linear combination of triple-spin correlation parameters and also a linear combination of spintransfer parameters over the |t| range between 0.2 and 1.0 (GeV/c)2. A horizontally polarized beam (S direction) was obtained by precessing the spin of the polarized beam from the Argonne Zero Gradient Synchrotron using a superconducting solenoid. The target protons were polarized vertically (N direction) and the polarization of the recoil protons was measured with a carbon polarimeter. The results are consistent with the amplitude corresponding to π exchange being almost real and positive.
KSS = (S00S) AND HSNS = (SN0S) MEASURED HERE CONTAIN SMALL ADMIXTURES OF THE OTHER SPIN-TRANSFER AND TRIPLE-SPIN CORRELATION PARAMETERS RESPECTIVELY DUE TO THE POLARIZED TARGET MAGNETIC FIELD - SEE TEXT. MEAN VALUE OF HSNS OVER THIS T-RANGE IS 0.098 +- 0.085. PARITY CONSERVATION REQUIRES THE VANISHING OF THE PARAMETERS KSN, HSNN, (000S) AND DNS, WHILE (000N) MUST AGREE WITH THE SINGLE SCATTERING POLARIZATION PARAMETER (0N00).
Inclusive Λ production has been studied in K − p interactions at 8.25 GeV/ c using about 69 000 events; the total cross section is found to be 3.35 ± 0.20 mb. A comparison has been made with Σ 0 and Σ(1385) inclusive production. Their influence on the inclusive Λ production is discussed. The inclusive Λ cross section and polarization is interpreted in terms of the triple-Regge model. In the target fragmentation region an effective Regge trajectory is determined which lies closer to the K than to the K ∗ . In the beam fragmentation region the cross-section data indicate an effective Regge trajectory which corresponds to the nucleon, while the polarization data require additional Regge exchanges to be present.

We have measured the spin-spin correlation parameter CLL=(L, L;0, 0) in p−p elastic scattering around θc.m.=90° from plab=1.0 to 3.0 GeV/c. We observe a rapid energy dependence in CLL and describe our interpretation of the results.

We present measurements of the differential and polarization cross sections for the reactions KL0p→Ks0p, Λπ+, Σ0π+, and Λπ+π0 made in a hydrogen bubble chamber exposed to a beam of KL0 with incident momentum 550±35 MeV/c. The quasielastic data imposes additional constraints on the partial-wave analyses of the KN and K¯N systems. Our data show no strong energy-dependent effects in the region of the reported Σ(1580), JP=32− state. The phase of the forward regeneration amplitude was found to be about - 160° independent of KL0 momentum.

The target asymmetry for the reaction γ p → K + Λ 0 was measured at the Bonn 2.5 GeV synchroton. Data were taken at a fixed kaon c.m. angle of 90° and at photon energies between 1.1 and 1.3 GeV. The kaons were detected in a large aperture magnetic spectrometer.
