Multiple particle production in electron-positron interactions has been observed in an experiment performed at Adone, the Frascati 2×1.5 GeV e+e− storage ring. A total number of 239 events collected at several energies of the incident electron and positron beams between 0.8 and 1.0 GeV were analysed. The distribution of the multiplicity of charged particles produced in the final state is discussed and some upper limits on these multiplicities are reported. The observed lower limit to the total cross-section for multiple particle production in e+e− interactions, averaged over the energy range explored, is 3·10−32 cm2 with a statistical error of ±10% and a systematic uncertainty of ±25%.

We have measured the e + e − → ø reaction by its K + K − decay mode. Using our previous results on K O K O and the 3π decay mode of the ø mesons, we compute Γ ø → e + e − and then compare the whole Orsay results to theoretical predictions.

The charge excharge reaction K − p → K 0 n has been studied in a event/μb exposure of the CERN 2m hydrogen bubble chamber to a 3.95 GeV/ c K − beam. The differential cross section d σ /d t exhibits a change of slope at −1 ≈ 0.8 GeV 2 .

Approximately 700 events of the reaction K − d → K − π − pp s produced by 5.5 GeV/ c kaons were used to measure the cross section for Kπ elastic scattering in the T = 3 2 state by a Chew-Low extrapolation. The cross section does not exceed 2.1 mb and has no structure for Kπ masses from threshold up to 2.0 GeV.
Chew-Low extrapolation is used for evaluation of the K- P elastic cross section.
The differential cross-section of the reaction γ p→ η p has been measured at the Deutsches Elektronen Synchrotron (DESY) at mean photon energies of 4 and 6 GeV in the momentum transfer range between zero and 1.4 GeV 2 . The data show a slight maximum around t =−0.15 GeV 2 and fall off smoothly till t =−1.4 GeV 2 . There is no indication of a dip around t =−0.5 GeV 2 .

The polarization and the differential cross section in π−p elastic scattering have been measured at incident pion laboratory momenta of 1.70, 1.88, 2.07, 2.27, and 2.50 GeV/c. The experiment was carried out at the Argonne zero-gradient synchrotron with a polarized proton target. Details of the apparatus and data analysis are presented here together with the final results. A partial-wave analysis of the data has verified the JP=72+ assignment for the Δ(1950) and established a JP=72− assignment for the N(2190). It does not support a JP=112+ assignment for the Δ(2460), nor does it give support for some of the possible resonances found in the CERN phase-shift analysis. Apart from the resonance behavior, the partial-wave analysis reveals several new features. We find a striking correlation among the various partial-wave amplitudes at the highest energy, which is different for J=l+12 and J=l−12. In addition, several fixed-(−t) features of high-energy scattering emerge in the energy region of this analysis.

Experimental results are presented for the polarization parameter P 0 in π ± p , K ± p , pp, and p ̄ p elastic scattering at 6 GeV/ c , and in the range of the invariant four-momentum transfer squared − t from 0.05 to ∼ 2.0 (GeV/ c ) 2 .

A missing mass spectrometer search was made for several two-body, double charge exchange reactions, including backward K −p and p̄p elastic scattering at 8 and 16 GeV/ c and small momentum transfer. No examples of any of these processes were observed.

We have measured the asymmetry of the cross section for γp→π+n from a polarized target at 5 and 16 GeV. The range of four-momentum transfer was 0.02<~−t<~1.0 GeV2. The π+ mesons were produced in a polarized butanol target and detected with the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center 20−GeVc spectrometer. A sizable asymmetry was found at both 5 and 16 GeV, a typical value being -0.6 near −t=0.3 GeV2. A small amount of data on the asymmetry of other photoproduction processes was also obtained.
