Near threshold photoproduction of eta mesons from complex nuclei

Phys.Lett.B 373 (1996) 45-50, 1996.
Inspire Record 429457 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28390

Total and differential cross sections for photoproduction of η mesons from 12 C, 40 Ca, 93 Nb, and nat Pb have been obtained up to 790 MeV incident photon energy at the Mainz Microtron (MAMI) with the TAPS spectrometer. The absorption cross section σ ηN abs = (30 ± 2.5 ± 6)mb of η mesons in nuclear matter and the absorption length λ η = (2.0 ± 0.2 ± 0.4) fm are extracted. No significant depletion of the S 11 (1535) strength in the η photoproduction on nuclei is observed.

We present results on the photoproduction of 10 000 charmed particles from the 108 recorded triggers of Fermilab experiment E691. The total cross section for the photoproduction of D0 and D+ particles (and antiparticles) for xF>0.2 is measured to be 3.88±0.06±0.40 μb/Be nucleus at 〈Eγ〉=145 GeV. We have also measured the relative production of different charmed particles, their pT2 and xF distributions, and the energy dependence of the total charm cross section. The mean pT2 is 1.16±0.04 GeV2/c2 and the ratio of charm cross sections at 200 and 100 GeV is 1.96±0.24. Results of fits to the xF distribution are also reported.

Nuclear Compton scattering from 12C and bound-nucleon polarizabilities

Warkentin, B. J. ; Hornidge, D. L. ; Igarashi, R. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.C 64 (2001) 014603, 2001.
Inspire Record 557785 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.25395

Compton scattering cross sections from 12C have been measured at scattering angles of θγ=35°−150° using tagged photons of Eγ=84−105 MeV. Attempts to extract nucleon polarizabilities from the data were hampered by model ambiguities. These included uncertainties in the strength of the electric quadrupole and quasideuteron total photon absorption channels, and in the parametrizations of meson-exchange effects and nuclear form factors. These ambiguities led to large variations in the extracted values of the effective polarizabilities of the bound nucleon. Inelastic Compton scattering cross sections from the 4.44 MeV first-excited state were also obtained.

Photoproduction of Isolated Photons, Inclusively and with a Jet, at HERA

Phys.Lett.B 730 (2014) 293-301, 2014.
Inspire Record 1267651 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.64777

The photoproduction of isolated photons, both inclusive and together with a jet, has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of $374\, \mathrm{pb}^{-1}$. Differential cross sections are presented in the isolated-photon transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges $6 < E_T^\gamma < 15$ GeV and $-0.7 < \eta^\gamma < 0.9,$ and for jet transverse-energy and pseudorapidity ranges $4 < E_T^{jet} < 35$ GeV and $-1.5 < \eta^{jet} < 1.8,$ for exchanged-photon virtualities $Q^2 < 1$ GeV$^2$. Differential cross sections are also presented for inclusive isolated-photon production as functions of the transverse energy and pseudorapidity of the photon. Higher-order theoretical calculations are compared to the results.

OBSERVATION OF SCALING OF THE PHOTON STRUCTURE FUNCTION F2 (gamma) AT LOW Q**2

The TPC/Two Gamma collaboration Aihara, H. ; Alston-Garnjost, M. ; Avery, R.E. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 58 (1987) 97, 1987.
Inspire Record 233595 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20136

The structure function F2γ for a quasireal photon has been measured in the reaction ee→eeX for Q2 in the range 0.2<Q2<7 GeV2, by use of 9200 multihadron events obtained with the TPC/Two-Gamma detector at the SLAC storage ring PEP. The data have been corrected for detector effects by a regularized unfolding procedure and are presented as F2γ(x,Q2). The structure function shows scaling in the region 0.3<Q2<1.6 GeV2, x<0.3, and rises for higher Q2 and x>0.1. Below Q2=0.3 GeV2, scaling breaks down in accordance with the finite cross-section bound for real photons.

Near threshold photoproduction of $\eta$-mesons from the deuteron

Krusche, B. ; Ahrens, J. ; Annand, J.R.M. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 358 (1995) 40-46, 1995.
Inspire Record 406946 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28490

The first measurement of incoherent η-photoproduction from the deuteron in the threshold region is reported. The experiment was carried out at the MAMI accelerator with the TAPS spectrometer. Total and differential inclusive cross sections have been obtained between 627 and 790 MeV. It is found that the reaction is completely dominated by the incoherent part. An upper limit for coherent η-photoproduction on the deuteron is deduced, which is substantially lower than the result from an earlier measurement. The incoherent cross section is reproduced in a participant-spectator approach under the assumption of an energy-independent ratio between the neutron and proton cross sections. Best agreement is found for the ratio σ n σ p ≈ 2 3 . The implications for the isospin components of the electromagnetic excitation of the S 11 (1535) resonance are discussed.

Angular and polarization dependence of Compton scattering from He-4 in the Delta resonance region

Kraus, A. ; Selke, O. ; Wissmann, F. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 432 (1998) 45-50, 1998.
Inspire Record 487231 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28171

Using linearly polarized tagged photons from coherent bremsstrahlung, differential cross sections and beam asymmetries for Compton scattering by 4 He have been measured at MAMI in the energy interval between 150 MeV and 500 MeV for scattering angles of θ γ lab =37°, 93° and 137°, thus largely increasing the available data base. Improved calculations in terms of the Δ -hole model completely fail to describe the data at large scattering angles. The same proved to be true for a schematic model, even after taking into account properties of nuclear photo-absorption in very detail.

Charged hadronic four-body decays of D 0 mesons have been studied in the E687 photoproduction experiment at Fermilab. Branching ratios relative to the D 0 → K − π + π + π − decay mode for the Cabibbo-suppressed decays D 0 → π − π + π − π + , D 0 → K − K + π − π + have been measured and the first evidence of the D 0 → K − K + K − π + decay mode is reported. An analysis of the D 0 → K − K + π − π + resonance structure is also presented.

Exclusive rho0 and phi muoproduction at large q**2

Inspire Record 380946 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.48319

Exclusive ϱ 0 and φ muoproduction on deuterium, carbon and calcium has been studied in the kinematic range 2< Q 2 < 25 GeV 2 and 40 < ν < 180GeV. We discuss the Q 2 dependence of the cross sections, the transverse momentum distributions for the vector mesons, the decay angular distributions and, in the case of the ϱ 0 , nuclear effects. The data for 0 production are compatible with a diffractive mechanism. The distinct features of φ production are a smaller cross section and less steep p t 2 distributions than those for the 0 mesons.
