The inclusiveKn, ¶,and\(\bar \Lambda\) production has been studied in a\(\bar pp\) experiment performed in the Mirabelle bubble chamber at an incident beam momentum of 32.1 GeV/c. Total, topological and differential cross sections are presented and compared with those obtained at other energies. The invariant structure functions have been parametrised in the fragmentation region by a power law and are consistent with the expectations based on quark counting rules.

Elastic $\pi^{+}p$ scattering at 1.6 GeV/c

The c.m. angular distribution of π+p elastic scattering at 1.6 GeV/c shows a strong forward diffraction peak decreasing exponentially with a slopeA + = (6.9±0.5) GeV−2 comparable to thatA − = (7.2±0.5) GeV−2 observed in a previous experiment for π-p elastic scattering at the same incident momentum. The behaviour of the π+ and the π− angular distributions is quite different beyond the diffraction peak. The π+p total elastic cross-section is found to be Σ01 = (16.70±0.45) mb.

We present the inclusive and semi-inclusive production of protons, π+, π−, for the full range of kinematic variables, from 7850 inelastic interactions obtained in the 4.7 m liquid-hydrogen bubble chamber Mirabelle at the Serpukhov accelerator and with an incident proton beam of 69 GeV/c. We compare the data with those at other energies, and we give the results of different phenomenological fits.

Inclusive and Semiinclusive Two Pion Correlations in p p Collisions at 69-GeV/c

Correlations between pions produced in pp collisions at 69 GeV/c are observed both for π−π+ and π−π−. Short-range correlations in rapidity are present fory1⋍y2 in both cases; an enhancement is seen aroundy1=y2=±1. Correlations between transverse variables are linked to those in rapidity for π−π− combinations, whereas the effect is essentially kinematical for π+π−.

The cross sections of several exclusive reactions in p p interactions are given. In the channels p p → p p π + π − and p p → p p 2π + 2π − which dominate the interactions, the single and double diffractive dissociations are analysed and compared to the results obtained with K ± p interactions at the same energy, pp and p p interactions at other energies. The test of factorization at the p → p π + π − vertex is well verified. The process p p → Δ ++ Δ ++ is studied and the cross sections of Δ ++ , Δ ++ , ϱ 0 and f 0 production are also given.

Diffractive Dissociation of the Beam Particle in anti-p p Interactions at 32.1-GeV/c

We report the results of a study of the reaction p p → p + x at 32.1 GeV c , where the recoiling proton has a small laboratory momentum. The reaction is studied in the 4.5 m Mirabelle bubble chamber at Serpukhov. We compare the diffractive dissociation of the incident antiproton to other incident particles.

For the reaction π + p → ωΔ ++ data on the total cross section ( σ = 61 ± 12 μ b), differential cross sections, spin density matrix elements and statistical tensor elements are given. We observe natural and unnatural parity exchange contributions to the total cross section. We note that the value of ϱ 00 is not zero and in the helicity frame exhibits a dip at t ≈ −0.25 (GeV/ c ) 2 . A qualitative theoretical discussion of our results is presented.

Average charged particle multiplicity and topological cross-sections in 50-GeV/c and 69-GeV/c p p interactions

In an exposure of the chamber Mirabelle at the Serpukhov accelerator, 1 943 interactions at 50 GeV/ c and 8 959 at 69 GeV/ c have been observed. Topological cross sections and charged multiplicity distributions are presented. The average charged multiplicities found are respectively 5.32 ± 0.13 and 5.89 ± 0.07.
