Data on inclusive and semi-inclusive production of nonstrange meson resonances from a bubble chamber study of pn interactions at 19 GeV/c are presented. Most of the results concern ρ0 production. The inclusive cross-sectionσ(pn → ρ0+x)=(2.4±0.4) mb agrees well with pp data. The ρ0 cross-sections are equal in the protonlike and neutron-like hemispheres. The differential cross-sections are in general agreement with earlier observation in pp interactions. In the fragmentation region the approximate structure function can be described byEdσ/dx= =a(1−|x|)n withn=3.0±0.8 in agreement with recent predictions from quark counting rules. The production of ω(780) is observed in the reaction pn→pp+ω+X with a cross-section σ=(0.13±0.03) mb. There is indication of f0(1270) and g(1680) production.

Inspire Record 320088 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.36782

New data are reported on antiproton annihilations at rest with production of Λ and K s 0 , using a streamer chamber with 3 He, 4 He and 20 Ne as gas targets. The data include Λ, K s 0 , ΛK s 0 and K s 0 K S 0 production rates and momentum distributions, π − momentum spectra, mean numbers of charged particles generally and of negatively charged particles separately for different reaction channels. The yields are compared to simple combinatorial calculations based on the extreme assumptions of Λ production via B = 1 or via B = 0 ( K ̄ rescattering) annihilations. Λ and K s 0 momentum spectra are compared to simple model calculations where B = 0 and B = 1 annihilations with and without final-state interactions are considered. A review of existing data on Λ and K s 0 production is presented, showing the dependence on the p ̄ momentum and on the mass number of the target.

One, Two and Three Pion Production in p d Collisions at 19-GeV/c

The Scandinavian Bubble Chamber collaboration Bakken, V. ; Gennow, H. ; Jacobsen, T. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 124 (1977) 229-254, 1977.
Inspire Record 111511 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35429

We present cross sections for coherent and non-coherent production of one, two and three pions in pd reactions at 19 GeV/ c . The mass distributions of the two pion non-coherent channels are studied. Strong single Δ(1236) and also some double Δ production is observed. Clear evidence for ϱ production is seen.

Observation of subthreshold double strangeness production in anti-p annihilations on Xe nuclei: Search for stable H dibaryon

The Diana collaboration Barmin, V.V. ; Barylov, V.G. ; Chernukha, S.F. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.A 558 (1993) 361C-368C, 1993.
Inspire Record 358877 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20612

The double strangeness production has been observed in two final states of annihilation of antiprotons at momentum less than 0.9 GeV/ c on Xe nuclei: K + K + X (8 events) and K + K 0 ΛX (6 events). The probabilities of the reaction p Xe → K + K + X vary from 2 · 10 −5 (at rest) up to 7 · 10 −5 (in flight). The reaction p Xe → K + K 0 ΛX is observed only in flight with probability 3 · 10 −4 . The properties of the observed reactions are similar to those resulting from the cascade process with production of Ξ hyperon: p N → K ∗ −K ∗ , K ∗ → Kπ, −K ∗ N → ΞK, ΞN → ΛΛ . The new upper limit on the production probability of the stable H ( S = −2) dibaryon in the reaction Xe → K + K + H(H → Σ − p)X was obtained to be < 2 · 10 − (90% C . L .).

Anti-proton - Neon Annihilation at Rest and at 607-{MeV}/$c$

Balestra, F. ; Bossolasco, S. ; Bussa, M.P. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.A 491 (1989) 541-571, 1989.
Inspire Record 263202 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.37004

The analysis is based upon p̄Ne annihilation events at rest and at 607 MeV/c detected with a self-shunted streamer chamber exposed to the LEAR beams. The main measured quantities are the following: charged-prong multiplicity, negative pion multiplicity; momentum, angular and rapidity distributions. General distributions are given as well as distributions as functions of charged prong multiplicity. A correlation is found between high multiplicity and depth of the annihilation point. The data are compared with recent theoretical analyses.

Evidence of Isospin Effects in Anti-proton - Nucleus Annihilation

Balestra, F. ; Bossolasco, S. ; Bussa, M.P. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.A 491 (1989) 572-586, 1989.
Inspire Record 264049 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.37013

Antiproton- 3 He annihilation events at rest have been detected using a self-shunted streamer chamber. The ratio of the cross section for annihilation on neutrons and on protons has been measured (0.467 ± 0.035). It is compared with other results from annihilation on free nucleons, deuterium, 3 He and 4 He. The low value of the ratio seems to indicate a strong isospin dependence of the antinucleon-nucleon P-wave amplitude.

New upper limits for H particle production in anti-p Xe annihilation at low-energy

Barmin, V.V. ; Barylov, V.G. ; Chernukha, S.F. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 370 (1996) 233-238, 1996.
Inspire Record 429472 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.28391

A study of the reactions p Xe → K + K + X , p Xe → K + H(H → Σ − p)X and p Xe → K + K + H(H → Σ − p)X was performed using the 700-litre xenon bubble chamber DIANA, exposed to the 1 GeV/ c antiproton beam of ITEP (Moscow). From a sample of 7.8 · 10 5 antiproton annihilations at low energy in xenon nuclei 4 events were observed for the reaction p Xe | → K + K + X at rest ( P p ≤ 400 MeV /c ) and 8 for the same reaction in flight ( 400 ≤ P p ≤ 900 MeV /c ). The corresponding probabilities turned out to be 3.1 · 10 −5 and 3.4 · 10 −5 , respectively. No H -event was found in the two semi-inclusive reactions p Xe → K + HX and p Xe → K + K + HX . This lead to the upper limits 6 · 10 −6 and 8 · 10 −6 (90% C.L.), respectively. The corresponding upper limit for the fully inclusive reaction p Xe → HX turned out to be 1.2 · 10 −5 (90% C.L.), which is about one order of magnitude lower than the actual value reported in the literature.
