The polarization parameter in pn elastic scattering has been measured at 24 GeV/ c over the range of four-momentum transfer squared 0.1 < | t | < 1.25 (GeV/ c ) 2 , and found to be negative except for a zero at | t | = 0.65 (GeV/ c ) 2 .

Using the Primakoff formalism, we have extracted the radiative decay width of the A + 2 (1310) produced in coherent interactions of 200 GeV/ c π + mesons in nuclear targets. The width obtained is 295 ± 60 keV, a value consistent with quark-model predictions.

A measurement of the nucleon structure function F 2 on iron is presented. The data cover a kinematic range of 3.25 ⪕ Q 2 ⪕ 200 GeV 2 and 0.05 ⪕ x ⪕ 0.65 . The data clearly show scaling violation. Fits in leading-order QCD have been made and values for the scale breaking parameter λ are given.

A-dependence of Muon Pair Production in $\pi^-$ Nucleus Interactions at 280-{GeV}/$c$

Phys.Lett.B 104 (1981) 416-420, 1981.
Inspire Record 166161 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.31061

We have measured the relative cross sections for muon pair production by 280 GeV/ c negative pions on three different targets: carbon, copper, and tungsten. The value of α obtained from the parametrization σ = constant × A α is 0.94 ± 0.02 ± 0.02, whereas the parametrization σ≈σ 0 ( Z A ) A α′ , where σ 0 ( Z A ) is given by the Drell-Yan model, leads to α ′ = 0.97 ±0.02±0.02. This last result is in agreement with the quark additivity rule which is inherent in the Drell-Yan model, no dependence is observed on the transverse momentum of the muon pair.

Test of Nuclear Effects in Hadronic Dimuon Production

Phys.Lett.B 104 (1981) 335, 1981.
Inspire Record 166153 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.31167

We present the final analysis of the nuclear effects on the cross section of dimuon production, using simultaneously a hydrogen and a platinum target in a 150, 200 and 280 GeV pion beam. For the dimuon mass interval 4.1 to 8.5 GeV, the ratio of the cross sections is in agreement with the Drell-Yan model within a 10% error, mainly due to systematics. The variation of this ratio with the dimuon mass, x 1 and x 2 is also in good agreement, and no variation with the transverse momentum is observed.

Production of $\pi^0$ at Large Transverse Momentum in $\alpha \alpha$ and $\alpha p$ Collisions at the {CERN} Intersecting Storage Rings

Phys.Lett.B 104 (1981) 75-78, 1981.
Inspire Record 165249 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.31047

Inclusive π 0 production has been measured at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings in αα and α p collisions near 90°, for p T between 2 and 5 GeV/c. The differential cross sections show a slower exponential fall-off with p T than has been observed in pp collisions at the corresponding nucleon-nucleon centre-of-mass energies at large p T . The ratio of the π 0 production cross sections for αα collisions to those for pp collisions is observed to be larger than 16.

Differential Cross-sections of Proton Compton Scattering at Photon Laboratory Energies Between 700-{MeV} and 1000-{MeV}

Z.Phys.C 10 (1981) 197, 1981.
Inspire Record 165344 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.50251

Differential cross sections of proton Compton scattering have been measured at the Bonn 2.5 GeV synchrotron. 78 data points are presented as angular distributions at photon lab energies of 700, 750, 800, 850, 900, and 950MeV. The c.m. scattering angle ranges from 40°–130°, corresponding to a variation of the four momentum transfer squared betweent=−0.10 tot=−0.96 GeV2 at 700 and 950 MeV, respectively. Two additional differential cross sections have been measured at 1000MeV, 35.6° and 47.4°. The angular distributions show forward peaks whose extrapolations to 0° are consistent with calculated forward cross sections taken from literature. The small angle data (|t| ≲0.2 GeV2) together with the calculated cross sections at 0° are also consistent with the assumption of a slope parameterB of 5 GeV−2. For the first time a rerise of the angular distributions towards backward angles has been observed. It becomes less steep with increasing energy. The most interesting feature of the angular distributions is a sharp structure which appears betweent=−0.55 GeV2 at 700MeV andt=−0.72 GeV2 at 950 MeV. Such a rapid varation of the differential cross section witht has never been ovserved in elastic hadron-hadron scattering or photoproduction processes. It indicates the existence of a dynamical mechanism which could be a peculiarity of Compton scattering.

Energy Dependence of the $P P \to \pi^+ D$ Differential Cross-section Between 500-{MeV} and 600-{MeV}

Phys.Lett.B 100 (1981) 462-465, 1981.
Inspire Record 170182 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.31203

The unpolarized differential cross section for the reaction pp→π + d has been measured at SIN at seven energies between 514 and 583 MeV. Data are presented in terms of a Legendre polynomial expansion. An observed strong energy dependence of the 4th order coefficient can be understood as a threshold phenomenon in a phenomenological NΔ resonant description. No evidence was found for a 1 D 2 dibaryon resonance near 600 MeV.
