New data is presented on the ratios of structure functions F 2 ( x , Q 2 ) measured in deep inelastic muon scattering with deuterium, nitrogen, and iron targets. The existence of nuclear effects at large Q 2 is confirmed with improved systematic accuracy. The ratio F 2 Fe ( x ) F 2 D 2 ( x ) covers the range 0.20 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.70 and is in agreement with earlier measurements. The ratio F 2 N 2 ( x )/ F 2 D 2 ( x ) is measured over the range 0.08 ⩽ x ⩽ 0.70 and is compatible with unity below x = 0.3.

IN 'YN' OF THIS TABLE 'A' MEANS CHEMICAL WEIGHT OF TANTALUM NUCLEUS.
Measurements at 19 beam kinetic energies between 1795 and 2235 MeV are reported for the pp elastic scattering spin correlation parameter A00nn=ANN=CNN. The c.m. angular range is typically 60–100°. The measurements were performed at Saturne II with a vertically polarized beam and target (transverse to the beam direction and scattering plane), a magnetic spectrometer and a recoil detector, both instrumented with multiwire proportional chambers, and beam polarimeters. These results are compared to previous data from Saturne II and elsewhere.

The measurement of invariant cross sections for the production of protons by 400 GeV protons from a variety of nuclear targets is described. Results are given for Li6, Be, C, A1, Cu, and Ta at 70°, 90°, 118°, 137° and 160° for detected protons from 0.4 to 1.4 GeV/c. Some angular distributions are given over a wider selection of angles. The reaction π−A→Aπ− γ at 40 GeV/c was studied on “Sigma” spectrometer on six different nuclear targets in the region of four-momentum transfer |t|<0.05 (GeV/c)2. A phenomenon of elastic scattering of pions on the nuclear Coulomb field photons was observed, its total and differential cross sections were measured. The cross section of Compton effect on π−-meson was measured.
