Inspire Record 156267 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27136

Samples of 9200 muon-neutrino and 3800 muon-antineutrino interactions on nuclei were obtained with the fine-grain calorimeter of the CHARM Collaboration at the CERN 200 GeV narrow-band neutrino beam. The interactions were classified as either neutral-current or charged-current processes on an event-by-event basis. Neutral-current and charged-current cross sections in neutrino and antineutrino interactions are presented. From these results we deduce a statistically significant contribution of right-handed coupling to the neutral hadronic current, and a value of the electroweak mixing angle corresponding to sin 2 θ = 0.220 ± 0.014.

Transverse momentum of charged hadrons observed in deep inelastic muon scattering

The European Muon collaboration Aubert, J.J. ; Bassompierre, G. ; Becks, K.H. ; et al.
Phys.Lett.B 95 (1980) 306, 1980.
Inspire Record 154081 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.27176

The transverse momenta of charged hadrons produced in high energy muon-proton scattering have been studied. The average squared transverse momentum 〈 p 2 ⊥ 〉 shows a strong dependence on z = E h / v characteristic of intrinsic momentum effects and a significant rise as a function of s = W 2 . The W 2 , q 2 , x and z dependences of the data are compared with the predictions of a perturbative QCD model.

Electroproduction of $\rho^0$ Mesons

Cohen, I. ; Erickson, R. ; Messing, F. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 25 (1982) 634, 1982.
Inspire Record 152921 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.47139

Cross sections for ρ0 electroproduction measured in a streamer-chamber experiment are separated into elastic (ep→epρ0) and inelastic production channels. For the elastic channel, the total cross section and t dependence are presented. For the inelastic channel (1σ)dσdz, (1σ)dσdpT2, and a density matrix element are shown and compared to quark-parton-model predictions. The ratio of ρ0 to direct π0 production is found to be 2.0±0.5±0.3, where the first error is statistical, and the second error is systematic.

MEASUREMENTS OF SHADOWING IN LOW Q**2 ELECTROPRODUCTION ON NUCLEI

Bailey, J. ; Botterill, D.R. ; Montgomery, Hugh E. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 151 (1979) 367-388, 1979.
Inspire Record 132234 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.34763

Measurements of inelastic electron scattering have been made in the range 2.2 < ν < 3.8 GeV and 0.1 < | Q 2 | < 0.3 (GeV/ c ) 2 , on a selection of nuclei ranging from hydrogen and deuterium to uranium, by measuring the scattered electron only. Detailed calculations have been made of the contribution of radiative tails to the measured yield. The results show a small ‘shadowing’ consistent with other electroproduction experiments, and also with photoproduction experiments in this ν range, but the shadowing decreases rapidly as | Q 2 | increases.

Electroproduction of Charged Pions in the Quark Fragmentation Region

Drews, G. ; Gebert, W. ; Janata, F. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.Lett. 41 (1978) 1433, 1978.
Inspire Record 131548 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20866

This paper presents results of an experiment on hadron production in deep-inelastic electron scattering. Good agreement with the predictions of the quark-parton model is found. The Fragmentation functions for u and d quarks into pions are determined, and comparison is made with other deep-inelastic processes and with recent quark jet parametrizations.

Inclusive Electroproduction From Protons and Deuterons

Phys.Rev.D 20 (1979) 5, 1979.
Inspire Record 131005 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24206

We present results on the inclusive distributions of final-state hadrons created in deep-inelastic electron scattering from protons and deuterons. Data were taken from all portions of the kinematic range simultaneously in an apparatus which had equal detection efficiency for both charge signs. A subset of the produced hadrons were identified with a threshold-type Čerenkov counter. We find that the charge ratio h+h− is a strong function of Q2, xF, and pT2, with little dependence on s. The ratio of production of h− from deuterium to that from hydrogen as a function of φ is flat. The invariant cross section for each charge sign and each target exhibits the seagull effect (a correlation in 〈pT〉 and 〈xF〉). The value of 〈pT〉 for data in the range 0.4

NEUTRAL CURRENT COUPLING IN HIGH-ENERGY NEUTRINO INTERACTIONS.

Merritt, F.S. ; Barish, B.C. ; Bartlett, J.F. ; et al.
Phys.Rev.D 17 (1978) 2199-2205, 1978.
Inspire Record 132560 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.24431

We present measured hadron energy distributions for the reactions ν(ν¯)+N→ν(ν¯)+hadrons at high energy, as well as for the similar charged-current interactions. Insofar as possible, the determination of these distributions avoids any a priori assumptions about either the neutral-current or the charged-current interactions. We further analyze the neutral-current distributions within the framework of specific models, particularly the scaling model, to obtain a positive-helicity component P=0.36±0.10, which lies between pure V−A and pure V or A, and a coupling strength of g0=0.31±0.03 relative to the charged-current interaction. These coupling parameters agree well with the predictions of the Weinberg-Salam model with sin2θW=0.33±0.07.

Hadron Production by Virtual Photons in the Quark Fragmentation Region

Scarr, J.M. ; Chen, C.K. ; Knowles, J. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 135 (1978) 224-236, 1978.
Inspire Record 122308 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35139

We have measured the inclusive electroproduction of positive and negative hadrons in the quark fragmentation region using the streamer chamber at DESY. Data are presented in terms of the variable z p = p / v in the kinematic region 1.8 < W < 2.8 GeV and 0.3 < Q 2 < 1.4 GeV 2 . The positive hadron distributions contain a strong proton component. After subtraction of the proton component and elastic rho events, the distribution (1/ σ tot ) d σ /d z p for positive and negative hadrons agrees well with the corresponding distribution from e + e − annihilation (DORIS data). This behaviour supports the validity of the quark-parton model at surprisingly low Q 2 and W .

Charged Hadron Multiplicities and Inclusive pi- Distributions in Inelastic e p Scattering

Chen, C.K. ; Knowles, J. ; Martin, D. ; et al.
Nucl.Phys.B 133 (1978) 13-37, 1978.
Inspire Record 121936 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.35153

Electroproduction of hadrons is studied in the kinematic region W < 2.8 GeV and 0.3 < Q 2 < 1.4 GeV 2 using the DESY streamer chamber. Prong cross sections, charged-particle multiplicities and inclusive π − distributions are presented. The average charged multiplicity is found to be independent of Q 2 in the Q 2 range studied here; however it is lower than in photoproduction. The fraction of forward π − is found to be significantly less in electroproduction than in photoproduction. The 〈 p ⊥ 2 〉 for inclusive π − is, for all x values, similar to that found in photoproduction.
