Inclusive γ ∗ γ interactions to hadronic final states where one scattered electron or positron is detected in the electromagnetic calorimeters have been studied in the LEP 1 data taken by ALEPH from 1991 to 1995. The event sample has been used to measure the hadronic structure function of the photon F 2 γ in three bins with 〈 Q 2 〉 of 9.9, 20.7 and 284 GeV 2 .
The measured values of dsig/dx from the ECAL data in the Q**2 bin 35 to 3000 GeV**2 with a mean of 284 +- 49 GeV**2.
The measured values of dsig/dx from the LCAL data in the Q**2 bin 13 to 44 GeV**2 with a mean of 20.67 +- 016 GeV**2.
The measured values of dsig/dx from the LCAL data in the Q**2 bin 6 to 13 GeV**2 with a mean of 9.93 +- 0.04 GeV**2.
The photon structure function F 2 γ has been measured at an average Q 2 value of 6.8 GeV 2 using data collected by the AMY detector at the TRISTAN e + e − collider. The measured F 2 γ is compared with several QCD-based parton density models.

The photon structure function F 2 has been measured at average Q 2 values of 73,160 and 390 ( GeV c ) 2 . We compare the x dependence of the Q 2 = 73 ( GeV c ) 2 data with theoretical expectations based on QCD. In addition we present results on the Q 2 evolution of the structure function for the intermediate x range (0.3⩽ x ⩽0.8). The results are consistent with QCD.
X dependence at Q**2 = 73 GeV**2 for light quark data.
X dependence at Q**2 = 73 GeV**2 for total data.

The photon structure function F 2 γ has been measured at average Q 2 values of 73 and 390 GeV 2 using data collected by the AMY detector at the TRISTAN e + e − collider. F 2 γ is observed to be increasing as ln Q 2 . The x -dependence of F 2 γ , where x is the momentum fraction carried by the parton inside the photon, is also measured. The measurements are compared with several parton density models.

We present cross section measurements for inclusive jet production in almost-real photon-photon interactions at TRISTAN using the AMY detector. The results are compared with leading-order QCD calculations for different parameterizations of the parton density in the photon.

The reaction γγ→K + K − π + π − π 0 has been observed for the first time, using the ARGUS detector at the e + e − storage ring DORIS II at DESY. The cross section shows an enhancement for W γγ close to 3 GeV/ c 2 . Searches for γγ→ωφ and for γγ→φφ leading to this final state, as well as for γγ→φφ→2K + 2K − , have been performed. The derived upper limits for ωφ and φφ production are compatible with q q q q model predictions.

The reaction γγ → 2 π + 2 π − 2 π 0 has been studied using the ARGUS detector at the e + e − storage ring DORIS II at DESY. Production of ω mesons is observed and, in particular, the reaction γγ → ωω is seen for the first time. The cross section for γγ → ωω has an enhancement at ∼ 1.9 GeV/ c 2 of about 10 nb. The cross sections for γγ → 2 π + 2 π − 2 π 0 and γγ → ωπ + π − π 0 are also given.

Cross section for (omega omega) production. Additional 25 pct systematic error not included.
Cross section for (omega pi+ pi- pi0) where (omega omega) events have been removed. Additional 15 pct systematic error not included.
The final state K + K − π + π − has been studied in γγ interactions using the ARGUS detector at the e + e − storage ring DORIS II at DESY. Production of the vector meson pair K ∗0 (892) K ∗0 (892) is observed for the first time. The cross section for K + K − π + π − , K ∗0 K − π + +c.c. and K ∗0 K ∗0 are all found to be of the order of a few nb. In the W γγ range accessible, a mean upper limit of 0.5 nb at 95% CL is derived for φϱ 0 production.

The reaction γγ → 2 π + 2 π − π 0 has been studied using the the ARGUS detector at the e + e − storage ring DORIS II at DESY. The production of the vector-meson pair ωϱ 0 is observed for the first time. The cross section for γγ → ωϱ 0 and the topological cross section for γγ → 2 π + 2 π − π 0 are given. The angular distribution in ωϱ 0 events do not indicate any specific dominant spin-parity; they are consistent with isotropic production and decay of the ω and ϱ 0 mesons over the available W γγ range.

We report on a high statistics measurement of the total and differential cross sections of the process gamma gamma -> pi^+ pi^- in the pi^+ pi^- invariant mass range 0.8 GeV/c^2 < W < 1.5 GeV/c^2 with 85.9 fb^{-1} of data collected at sqrt{s}=10.58 GeV and 10.52 GeV with the Belle detector. A clear signal of the f_0(980) resonance is observed in addition to the f_2(1270) resonance. An improved 90% confidence level upper limit Br.(eta'(958) -> pi^+ pi^-) < 2.9 x 10^{-3} is obtained for P- and CP-violating decay of the eta'(958) meson using the most conservative assumption about the interference with the background.
