Inclusive production of Δ ++ (1232) with >| t p, Δ ++>|<0.6 (GeV/ c ) 2 is studied in 32 GeV/ c K + p interactions. A systematic comparison with the reaction K + p→pX for >| t p,p>| < 0.6 (GeV/ c ) 2 is made. The production properties of the Δ ++ (1232), of associated π + , π − and K 0 production and of the recoiling system X 0 are investigated in detail. The polarization of the Δ ++ and the energy dependence of the total K + π − cross sections, determined by a Chew-Low extrapolation, are presented and discussed.

In this letter the distribution of slow target associated particles emitted in Au + Emulsion interactions at 11.6 A GeV/ c is studied. The three models RQMD, FRITIOF and VENUS are used for comparisons and especially their treatment of rescattering is investigated.

Limiting Fragmentation in Oxygen Induced Emulsion Interactions at 14.6-a/{GeV}, 60-a/{GeV} and 200-a/{GeV}

Phys.Rev.Lett. 62 (1989) 2801, 1989.
Inspire Record 268021 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.20041

Pseudorapidity distributions of relativistic singly charged particles in oxygen-induced emulsion interactions at 14.6, 60, and 200 GeV/nucleon are studied. Limiting fragmentation behavior is observed in both the target and projectile fragmentation regions for a central as well as for a minimum-bias sample. Comparisons with the fritiof model reveal that the picture of fragmenting strings successfully describes the observed data.

J / psi and psi-prime production in hadronic Z0 decays

Inspire Record 402487 DOI 10.17182/hepdata.30060

The production of Jψ mesons in Z0 decays is studied using 3.6 million hadronic events recorded by the OPAL detector at LEP. The inclusive Z0 to Jψ and b-quark to Jψ branching ratios are measured from the total yield of Jψ mesons, identified from their decays into lepton pairs. The Jψ momentum distribution is used to study the fragmentation of b-quarks. The production rate of ψ′ mesons, identified from their decays into a Jψ and a π+π− pair, is measured as well. The following results are obtained: ${Br(Z^{0}⌝ghtarrow {⤪ J}/ i X)=(3.9pm 0.2pm 0.3)cdot 10^{-3} {⤪ and} ↦op Br(Z^0⌝ghtarrow  i ^⌕ime X)=(1.6pm 0.3pm 0.2)cdot 10^{-3}, }$ where the first error is statistical and the second systematic. Finally the Jψ sample is used to reconstruct exclusive b-hadron decays and calculate the corresponding b-hadron branching ratios and masses.

The total cross section for γγ→hadrons was measured as a function of the invariant massW of the system (1.25 to 4.25 GeV) at thee+e−-collider VEPP-4 with the detector MD-1. For the first time the data were obtained by detecting both scattered leptons with almost zero emission angles. The mean squared four momentum transfer 〈q2〉 is −0.005 GeV2, the rmsW resolution is 100–250 MeV. The data on the mean charged multiplicity 〈nC〉 are well described by the function 〈nC〉=(1.62 ±0.37)+(1.83±0.45)·ln(W(GeV)). TheW dependence of the total cross section is consistent with the theoretical prediction σ(nb)=240+270/W(GeV).

Charged Pion Production in 70-{GeV}/$c K^+ P$ Interactions

Inclusive charged pion production is studied in an exposure of BEBC, filled with hydrogen, to an incidentK+ beam of 70 GeV/c. Total cross sections for pion production and inclusive longitudinal and transverse momentum distributions of π−'s and of positive particles are presented and compared with data at lower energies. Earlier evidence for scaling in the fragmentation regions is confirmed. The central region π− cross section increases proportionally topLAB−1/4; positive particles show almost no energy dependence atx=0. Particle ratios π+/π− are studied as a function ofx andy* and a comparison with 70 GeV/cK−p data is made. Analysis of structure functions for (ππ) pairs and of particle production associated with π± triggers at large |x| in the context of quark/parton models, provides qualitative evidence for the diquark-quark structure of the proton.
